He has no right to speak for Yorubas and those getting emotional are giving him unnecessary relevance. The issue for me is focus on where we want to be.In life criticism comes in many forms but is rarely palatable. Our job is to analyse and take what is useful and discard the useless. For me Tanko Yakasai is not an issue.I won't recognize him on the street.

The relevance of their not being elected is simple. So they had their meeting what next? How do we convert the drawing into a building?

I have always told the IPOB people to get their State Houses of Assembly to pass resolutions and their Senators to bring it up on the floor of the Senate.
I would say the same to the Yoruba otherwise yesterday was just a party. If it results in all 17 states in the South doing that then that is progress. Not just a feel good factor event that fizzles out after a day. What is the plan and how well have they anticipated moves of people like Yakasai.
To me Yakasai has done them a favor by showing his hand. What else is going on in terms of such divisive moves and how well funded/coordinated are they.

We pride ourselves as being rational and not emotional so why all the emotions here? What to do? Action not reaction
There are many cards that can be played to create division in the North too so why play victim??
I must at this point, salute your objectivity.

While what Yakassai said might have not been palatable, there's no denying he made some valid points (which you hinted at as per the bolded)

Never thought our "rational and sophisticated omoluabi's" could suddenly become so emotional and insulting like iPod yoots.

I took my time to listen to the man's position.

Though filled with disguised self interest and bias, he made some valid points.

First, some set of people cannot in any way decide the course of the Yoruba Nation. Who chose these guys to decide what Yoruba wants? This is how aristocracy starts.

Secondly, Yakasai asserted for a National Referendum to be embedded in our Constitution before such advocacy can be valid in the first place. That makes sense. We cannot thrive in disorder when we still have a social contract. The Constitution is what makes us a country in the first place. Any modifications to that should be done from the source for it to be valid.

Honestly, it beats me how we got to this point as a nation where we only filter news with our sentimental ears.
I wonder, I used to think such knee-jerk reactions were the preserve of our eastern yoots.

Your submission is refreshingly objective.

we Hausa consider Fulani our closet brothers out of our tribe. The Fulani Kings never consider Hausa as slaves( they can't dare to think that way).

grin You talk about having Muslim Yoruba in your family and share sallah meets with them cheesy ( That's expected of a Muslim) who are you trying to deceive here? Yourself or peeps here accept to be fool by you to makes yourself feel better. grin

cheesy Just because you have some members of Yoruba Muslims doesn't means you can decide on their religion and Feature.. cheesy What do you stand to achieve by bringing another topic of Hausa being slaves to Fulani. ( Abinda ban dariya grin ) let clarify and educate you on something:

Hausa are not and will never be slaves to Fulani cheesy

(1) All the emirate Kings in Sokoto caliphate represent Their Religion (which is Islam) not their Tribe or Ethnicity

(2) Their is a misconception that all the Kings in Hausa land are Fulani of Fulani decent. The Emirates in hausaland have their Kings of Hausa decent ,Fulani decent and their are even King of Dak'karawa decent in my state and many decents.

(3) Any Emirate King in SOkoto caliphate that is of Fulani decent is not a Fulani King but an Islamic King who represent Islam and Muslims not Fulani tribes. (and cannot dare say he is a Fulani King and other are his subjects)

(4)Hausawa (Hausa people) made a huge sacrifice for the sake of Islam .We gave up our Kingdom,Dethrone some of our Kings for Islam sake. Allah makes its happen that a Fulani who learn Islam in Hausa land, who was taught Islamic teaching from a Hausa teacher (The great Usman Dan FodiO, A Fulani descent) leads the Islamic jahad.
Their are Hausa Kings in Hausaland and Their are no Fulani Kings in Hausa land grin . But Their are Islamic Kings in Hausa land whom are of Fulani origin.

(5)More than half the Muslims army lead by Dan FodiO for jahad are not Fulani but Hausa and other close Muslim chadic tribes. The language of governing in Sokoto caliphate is Hausa, The culture is 90% Hausa . A King in Hausa land weather hausa or Fulani or whatever can't never tell you we are his slaves. We were never enslaved and we will never be enslaved cheesy

For the sacrifices hausa made for religion of Allah (Islam) today Allah made them the most influential tribe in west africa. Their language the must accept and spoken in Africa by non Hausa, their culture is second to none in West Africa, They are the riches and will overcome all the hardship in life inshaAllah... Dan Bakin ciki zaka rayu ka gani grin Kuma banya-banya ba grin Tunda ka kirani bawan Fulani cheesy
Don't mind the cretins crawling around thinking they can create non-existent divisions between Hausa/Fulani grin, they're toeing the same dead path their beerfraud cousins have been treading in futility. cheesy

Good point. There is no need to insult Yakassai. It is not a secret that the North are against restructuring, for obvious reasons. The present set-up favors them more than any other region. So I would not expect them to embrace restructuring. If I were them, I would also oppose it.
Restructuring can only happen through the National Assembly. And the North holds a majority there. I have observed that the SE, SS, SW, and Middlebelt(North central) generally support restructuring. These groups will constitute a majority in the National Assembly. So what we need to do is to unite and present a common front and get the necessary bills passed which will give us restructuring and referendum. That is why I'm happy to see that SE and SS were represented at Ibadan. I wonder why Middlebelt was not their.
The South have to use their brains just like the North always do. It's a mistake to underestimate the Fulani. There is a reason why they run things in the North and Nigeria. I believe they are the most intelligent ethnic group in Nigeria(my opinion).
Without sounding conceited, I must admit that this has largely been the Achilles heel of the entire south (my opinion as well).

Good points you made there. So how do we get ourselves out of the stranglehold of the North? We should get the Middlebelt on our side. That should give us the number to push through the Referendum and Restructuring bills in the National Assembly. We should also support the Christians in Southern Kaduna, Borno, Taraba and Adamawa to get more of them into the House and Senate.
And we should stop fighting against each other in the South.
We need to make good use of the education we claim to have acquired.
as a middle beltan i support a defined restructuring and am a fundament muslim. sp what do you xpect me to do the instant narrow minds like your are bringing religion into the matter. you just mentioned christains in afamawa southern kaduna and so on.what does restructuring has to do with christanity and why do you think a northern christain will support a policy against his home and region. your reasonin is as myopic as the hausa man thats trying to deceive other muslims from the south to support their agenda. smH

This is sad cry
plz why judge my whole tribe as Hypocrite. You are saying all that I and and other hausa will say ,tho even if is truth we said it with tribal and political motives. Wallahi (by Allah) sad all that I said about standing for brothers in Islam ,i said it all wirh pure intentions. You are wrong I'm incapable and was not trying to deceive any Yoruba Muslim in the name of Islamic brotherhood. It's a good thing you agreed on Al'muslimu ahul Muslim.

No doubt their are tribalistic Muslim hausa but their are also tribalistic Muslim Yoruba, Mindle benterns but every pious Muslim will care less about his/her's tribe and put Everything Islam first.

Malam hamza Kaima Kaji tsoron Allah and stop being a tribalistic Muslim calling hausa lazy people and Illiterates. Lazy people can be found in any group/tribe and so your tribe like hausa people are not exception. And if Litiracy means the ability to read write and comprehend then we Hausa are not illiterates are their not illiterate and illiterate can also be found in your tribe. undecided

You talk about Muslims Hausa in Kaduna Killing other Muslims from middle belt in time of religious and ethnic crises. Have any Muslim you personally knows been kill by Hausawa in the name of religious conflict? Wattaqullah sad no sane Muslim will kill another Muslim just because they are from different tribes. I know human beings are capable of doing anything but no sane Muslim will do that and by doing so you have left the way of Islam.

Who ever killed a human intentionally ( Cristian or a muslim ) will not enter paradise until he accepted and received the mercy blessed on his (which is dead by Hanging) and in Islamic Shari'a law he/she should be Killed aswell.

This is a short sighted way of looking at the current situation in Nigeria. The call for restructuring predates Buhari's presidency and it will probably outlive it. We are talking about changes that will affect the lives of Nigerians yet unborn.
Presidencies will come and go but only a strong, fair and egalitarian system and institutions will ensure the future development of Nigeria as a successful country.

African Traditional religion has leaders such as Oba, Alase, Ooni.
Islamic religion has clear political leaders such as emirs, caliphs.
Christian religion has leaders such as pastors, bishops, Pope in Vatican City. Remember, in the Bible, Jesus was a threat to the traditional religion of Rome which was based on Africa taken from ancient Egypt.

Western "democracy" has leadership system as well as capitalistic system... leads to corrupt billionaires and inequality, no accountability, corrupt mis-education system.

All these religious systems were orignally about politics and had their political leaders.
Restructuring is about what leadership system will rule. Will African traditional political system finally have a renaissance?
That is what the world is watching now.

1st the North don't want restructuring (their choice)

Forcing Restructuring would inevitably metaphors to a northern military coup with the aim of unifying the country... which would lead to emergency war.. (exactly what happened in 1967 after Aburi Accord.. which was the best restructuring deal that can and could save Nigeria). the fact most Nigerians can't see.

No matter how we go round shouting restructuring.... that had never been maintained... the only way out is break up... it is not optional.

Anybody saying restructuring or break up is still dreaming... it Should be mutual-slavery (because North are also slaves to the dead system) or break up and autonomy
So how do we achieve this Break-Up and subsequent Autonomy as postulated above as it is only the Biafrans that are visibly agitating for an independent nation today while others are on the fence, undecided?
Those who has the country at the jugular won't come to the table if the status quo remains. Those aggrieved with the present constitution of the country must take a stand and, now is the time to do that. The northern oligarchy is busy re-strategizing, testing the ground for soft spots and offering trojan horses to the gullible in a bid to sustain the rape on every sphere of this country. They have nothing to lose. They are sitting pretty as it is and won't budge unless goaded. We must take a stand and I suggest the APC-style (birds of strange feathers gathered just to fight a common enemy with no sharing formula in place: Get-them-of-office was the only end.

Not Only Biafra But Also Boko Haram, Then A Mild Agitation From The SW. BH is number one.
