To the best of my knowledge, there's no such thing as absolute good/evil. In the end, every thing is nothing more than an event, the universe is indifferent to whatever happens to people... entire galaxies die probably more than once in a second, not to speak of humans. The notion of good and evil is a social construct. There isn't any true morals to follow, hence the existence of many moral philosophies.

However, the commonsense approach is to put the survival of the human species, animals, & the planet/any other planet fit for us at the forefront. This approach will prioritize human cooperation to achieve goals beneficial to the survival of the aforementioned. Thus, the need for us to be nice to one another, etc.

You can follow guys like Alain de Botton, James Lindsay etc on Twitter for some views on moral philosophy.

atheists are too quick to claim that we are born atheist when in fact atheism requires that you reject the belief of a higher power, insinuating that the knowledge of a higher power must exist, how then are babies atheist, if they do not possess this knowledge and then reject it. It is simply placing the cart before the horse, and the simple fact that philosophers as well as psychologist have unsuccessfully defined the first thought in human beings ( the moment of higher cognitive ability ) to determine if any knowledge of some kind is inborn. Babies are at best deist or agnostic , they neither care for the existence or non existence of a god, their primal instincts are survival. Atheist, particularly Nigerian Atheist, do not realise that disproof of God requires proof, just because the religious adherent cannot prove it's existence doesn't mean it is not true, neither is it false . it is at best a conjecture, Nobody can say with certainty, that


1. There is a God



2. There is no God

Nairaland atheists are those who learnt the 'craft'..
They have no thought process really...They are Google addicts who went on a God hating spree cos they couldn't live by the christian standards they once believed (cos of extreme pollutions and corruption) or they felt God should have still done more for them.
The problem is 'Without Faith, you can never please God'...
In conclusion, anyone who joins the congregation of Christians without Faith, shall eventually fall away. You can't go far in your walk with God without Faith.

You can't proof a negative statement.
BTW, atheists aren't the people making claims for the existence of God, therefore the onus probandi (burden of proof) lies on the person making the claim.

IF a negative statement can be proven, then proof to me there is "NO" cat on/under/beside the table below

so the reason you're an atheist is because the religious devotee cannot prove that there is god. you imply that the basis of your believes is the absence of proof in other people's belief system, then you my friend has a very big problem.

IF they can't proof what they claim, why should I be the one proving? BTW, did any atheist claim God exist? Why should an atheist provide evidence?

IF an atheist can provide evidence for God existence, he's no longer a atheist

No mathematician has proved the Riemann Hypothesis, we may as well just believe it's false. This is the problem of all pseudo-intellectual atheist on Nairaland who take all matters as either black or white. As i stated in my previous post, no one can prove or disprove the existence of god , along with a myriad of metaphysical constructs. and the pursuit of such endeavors are a waste of time. I'm not here to win an argument about the existence of god. again I say, if your belief systems is founded on the inability of your fellow man of sound mind and body to lay proof to his claim, then you have a problem. as for the cat on the table, i can write a whole treatise on whether or not it is on the table, but like the proof or disprove of god, it is an exercise in futility
