A Nigerian Instagram user who saw a little girl die in her father's arms after they were rejected and transferred all around Lagos hospitals has vented his frustration online.

The little baby had an ear infection since last week Tuesday but couldn't get treatment. Among the excuses reportedly given by 3 Lagos hospitals on why they couldn't treat her included no bed, health workers' strike and demand of N250,000 by a private hospital before even touching the baby girl.Her heartbroken parents have been inconsolable.

Just getting home now, tired,sad, depressed, angry,....yes!!! Angry would be the most appropriate word...This little kid just passed on (I pray she wakes up in Jesus name, cos the mother never stopped praying)..she died in her father's arms in a taxi opposite Sheraton hotels, ikeja, after being transferred all around Lagos hospitals till she gave up d ghost.

Why NO BED IN LASUTH, LUTH ON STRIKE, PRIVATE HOSPITAL ASKING FOR 250,000 BEFORE EVEN TOUCHING HER, Ambulance (112), didn't come in 40mins that we were with them opposite Sheraton hotels...( I mean, how far could that be, on a Sunday night with no traffic)...

This little child died because of a failed health system. There was no defibrillator in the whole of the childrens Ward...not one ( I was there myself, I asked for it with other good Samaritan that followed us to LASUTH with the nice police officer that went with us) the only question I could ask is WHY?? WHY?? WHY??

What kind of country can't save a baby that had ear infection since last week Tuesday The scream of that young lady is all I hear, asking God to return her baby's spirit...

The government is to blame for this for not providing enough beds and facilities in public hospitals, but how can they provide it when Nigerians pay abysmally low prices for public health services, untill the health sector is privatized and Nigerians or health insurance companies are made to pay the real cost of health services I don't see it getting better.

There is nothing wrong with the demand of N250k by the private hospital, they are businesses and have the right not to give services on credit

now you know why churches are full. you need to pray hard so that no tough sickness befalls you, because Nigeria's health care is dead. I have been a victim before. I will relocate my family out of Nigeria very soon. I would rather be treated like shit in another man's country than have same treatment in my own country.

If na to deploy army to kill people, buhari would do that one asap but to equip hospitals he won't..useless country ruled by useless president. Remember, he once left the country for ear treatment.

President went for treatment for ear infection abroad. If he had used hald the money he has spent on his foreign trips to settle striking health workers, would this have happened?

At presentation the girl was in all likelihood an emergency case. The hospital should have helped stabilize her. It does not cost N250k to drain an ear infection and provide antibiotics and fluids.

Sad. Nigeria has been in this State for a looking time. People only truly notice 8t when it strikes home or closer to home. Nigerian doctors can't even perform ordinary CPR if Care is not taken.

Reminds me of the time someone said on another thread that they should pay doctors salaries at par with those in the USA, and I said...that if you want that , that means you will be paying $15000 for common Cesarean Section.

Fact is, we need far more than what we earn as our budget to adequately fund health. And let's be frank, we don't have the money.

And the only way we can earn that money is by ending this our oil-dependency...and becoming industrial....and even them we may still have to pay high fees.

Sorry Nigeria....but if you want strikes to end, be prepped for higher hospital fees.
