Hi Moms, I started my baby on Gerber rice (supported sitter) on Saturday (her 4 months birthday). I mix 4 or 5 spoons of aptamil with 1 spoon of gerber rice and she's taking it relatively well. Now the challenges are
1. she's yet to have a poo and she poops everyday or on alternate days. I've started alternating formula and mixed food (formula+solid) since midnight and even gave her 30mls of water to induce poop. what else can i do?
2. I use tommee tippee bottles and the mixture of aptamil and gerber is not flowing well at all. I even repierced the holes on 3 bottles again, yet no improvement, she's getting frustrating sucking the bottles. The munchkin latch bottles that I have are better off but I only have 2 that came with the sterilizing unit. Does tommee tippee teat size 3 have bigger holes or where can I get latch bottles to buy in lagos?
3. How do I feed her when I increase the ratio of solid to formula? she's starting creche soon and using spoons and bowl is more susceptible to germs.

thank you ma for the reply. it is true I can't count how many times he wees on the diaper but there are days he wees 10-20 mins interval if he is not on diaper.

It's this landing on the floor that made me say our bed is small. Anytime I put her on our bed, hubby would end up not sleeping well or sleeping on the floor plus I don't even want her to get used to sleeping on our bed, I plan to kick her out of our room once she can sleep through the night

4 or 5 spoons of milk and 1 spoon of cereal to what mls of water? For the bottle, would have said you should cut with a scissors instead of piercing, but at 4 months the flow may be too much.

1. How much water are you putting into the mix? With solids she needs to have a lot more water to move things along. As much as possible have some water with each solid feed
2. Another mama may have more info about this, I never bothered with bottles for cereal so I don't know if there's actually a teat that would work. I think you either basically tear a hole in the teat or graduate to spoon feeding. The disadvantage of sticking with bottles for too long is she may not take to spoon feeding when she gets older.
3. Actually bottles are more susceptible to germs than a bowl and spoon, in fact I read on babycentre that you don't have to sterilize them as there are no hidden corners for germs and mould to grow like you have with bottles and their associated parts (Me I still sterilize sha cos I'm extra like that). Get a bowl that comes with a cover (I use Tommy Tippee for creche), dispense the cereal in small bowls and they will mix for her for each meal. Note that she still has to take 500ml of milk a day till she's 1

4 spoons formula + 1 spoon gerber rice = 150mls of water..... That's the way I mix it.
