FG should own offshore. Ie where the oil comes from..
We will resist any attempt for u people to come up with any un genuine restructuring.

The oil within the Niger Delta region belongs to the Niger Delta people!
Our forefathers fished in those waters long before the inception of Nigeria.
you want true federalism or your own definition of federalism? Cos in u.s, fg own the offshore

Zoning formula should be based on the six geopolitical regions, viz: North west, North East, North central, South west, South east, and South south, so as to accommodate all interest/ethnic group. Nigeria should forget about more state creation rather, she should focus on structural development and transperency. Creating more states will not result to an increased revenue as it is created from the already existing structures that is not viable, rather it will only create more channels for embezzlement and redundancy.

Some power should be devolved to the states except security, defence, currency, foreign policies, and any other thay may be decided upon. States should be contributing to the central govt on an agreed equal formula based on percentage and not otherwise.

If the government is sincere in the pursuit of this "restructuring" project there are capable men and women with integrity to head such committee. You don't ask a goat to watch over a barn full of yam and expect the yam the same.

El Rufai is a known anti restructuring and Northern bigot. He can never discharge his duties as chairman of that committee without bias. Also there is no way the political class will favour regional set up because it will erase the power and privilege they currently enjoy. For example, a sitting governor will do everything within his power to scuttle the issue of going back to the regional government.

It's all rhetorics and nothing more, after circling round we will still go back to where we are. That is the politics the elites and ruling class are using against us because the present arrangements favours them.

You have spoken well

The states of Texas and florida which have the largest oils and gas deposits own 9 nautical miles (17 km) of seabed from the shore.
Do ur research.

FG in Nigeria CANNOT own the offshore where the oil comes from.

Lol.. don't mind them. They still want to keep hold of Niger Delta oil from the back door by saying FG will own all offshore in the event of restructuring.

It won't work!

Anything aside RESOURCE CONTROL (with contributions to run the center) is dead on arrival! The north can keep blabbing whatever... we are not here to serve anybody's interest. Let every region cater for itself (and not hoping on others to do so)! This is the only way Nigeria can get out of the woods.

I think the devolution of power to the current 36 states would be a wrong move. The 36 states are majorly unviable (except Lagos). I suggest that the 6 geopolitical zones be recognised as states while the current 36 states becomes Local Govts (scrap the 774 LGAs). I believe the zones will be better positioned to handle the new responsibilities that would come. Also the new states should own resources found within their lands and pay 30% to FG while FG should own all offshore resourses (including fishes).
bros, u have said it all.

uncle Texas was part of Southern Americans that fought the North in the Civil war.... they lost the war......that's why they are part of the United State Of America today.....they still have their own conservative flag jus like Biafra but unlike Biafra they accepted defeat, work together with the govt although they have their own law sometimes

There is no state in Nigeria dat has no resources, but due to lazyness they could not discover dem, hence restructuring take place now, every state will wake up & make use of wat they have. U will see dat some states even have wat can give dem money more dan d oil producing states.
Let us all join hand & support restructing so dat over dependent on d failed federal level will stop.

Which other tribe complains as much as the Igbos? You think Ojukwu or Kanu are fools for wanting more than the 5 South East states? No, because they know that the South East region would be nothing without the oil of the ND and of other vibrant oil producing states.

texas was annexed by u.s b4 the civil war. Yes they wère part of the confederate states... but they have already become a state in the u.s. Unlike most states, they were allowed to negotiate dia statehood even tho they were annexed.
