so you suggest it should be left out, or is there any other alternative?

Maggi's meant to be a substitute for stock. A rich stock can compensate for the lack of maggi.

nigga which one is white soup mayne ? soup and white dont go together. its like an oxymoron

A very thick soup given to a woman who gave birth. Usually very hot and spicy. It's called white soup because it has no palm oil or any type of oil. It's an Igbo food.

It should be left out, especially when the ingredient prescribed for the food is already rich and tasty.

It shouldn't be a shock to you. How do you think grandmas cook authentic food to this day?

Maggi's mostly for convenience and foreign/continental food (stews, rice, mai mai). You should know that soups have traditional spices.

. It's Edikang ikong, it's different word pronunciation.

I.e Edikang synonymous with something that is dry not too watery while ikong means leaf/leaves in Efik/Ibibio languages.

This name is used in describing the nature of the soup which means the soup is not to be watery as u can from the pix of the soup.

'Edikan' u wrote means Victory &people from this region bear this as names grin

Meant to type edikang and not edikan I omitted g. Thanks though

Yet to find any person of the Akwa-Cross region who hates it so, yes, I'm crazy about afang... especially if it's garnished with snails and mushrooms.

u know people say it causes internal heat and that `editan' should be eaten instead, but it can never be like afang...

Well, I have heard several folks reiterate it but screw it, I don't eat afang everyday so even if it were to be true, it certainly wouldn't be harmful to me.

Aditan... Probably a worthy rival to afang when prepared with enough waterleaves.

We certainly share the same sentiments about it. Too good, way too good.

About your love for pepper: Now I am curious. You grew up amongst South-Westerners ( they are famous for the spice) or just a personal thing?
