Canadian model Catt Gallinger, 24, has lost her sight in one of her eyes after getting a sclera tattoo last month in her home town of Ottawa, a process that involves adding colour to the white of an eye via needle injection. Catt said the first sign that something went wrong was when purple liquid began oozing from her eye. She said that the decision to get a sclera tattoo was a ‘massive mistake’. “As it stands now I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn’t get corrected.” Catt Gallinger told TIME that body modification was something she had interest in, and that some of her friends got the same sclera tattoo without any ill effects.
