It depends on your kind of wife, most Nigerian women (not all ) have a wide range of wants they considered needs, if for instance you are married to a woman that when ever she is aware you have money what comes to her mind is spending such women will never allow you to do proper planning and investment. It is important u dont do a joint account with herelse u will be blamed for not planning for the future of your family. Few Nigerian women in our generation can help you to plan for the future, if you are lucky to get such as a wife you can even decide to save all your salarues in her account. I personally fall in the first category of men with such women, as a friend would say "we dont have women like our mothers again". |

AlmiqhteeAllah:I agree. How can one be married and use the word " independent " under any circumstance. Some people are a product of their flawed upbringing and terrible grooming. When they start visiting saloons and start sharing the gist that demons from hell supply them there, they start developing crazy concepts that ends up putting them to misery |

uk10:Nope. Don't generalise. There are good women out there. If you know she doesnt trust you with finances and u still went ahead and married her, then thats ur fault and u have no right to complain |

supersystemsnig:Haha feminism is quite good for society. I just think most women and men misunderstand what it even advocates for. |

andrejoe:It depends on the guy, my kind of person, even if wifey is aware that i have a lot in my(enough to spend lavishly, by her own calculation) account. I still wouldn't bulge to her pressure, unless is worth it. Some women use sex to get there husband to do there bidding. It won't work with me. |

Why would I keep money for myself when there are needs in the house and my husband can not provide them alone? If we are both working, it should be for the good of all in the family. You don't look away when the children are out from school or when you need to pay some bills in the house simply because you are wife knowing fully well that your husband can't do all that alone. You don't need to have a joint account to do this. You just need to understand what family means. It's not a one man business. The man should also be able to share in other chores when the wife can't and not wait for the wife while things go wrong in the house. |

Divay22:my dear ask older couples especially the women I guess you will never want to operate a joint account when married especially if you marry a wicked and cunning man. my grandfather warned against it. |

gabinogem:It depends on the understanding and maturity of the couple. I guess the husband of the richest woman in Africa is also the bread winner. Make no mistake, the man or woman can earn higher than the other. In my social circle more women are now earning higher than their husbands. |

majekoam:Too long to explain haha. If you have time watch Chimamanda's videos on feminism, or read her book on "we should all be feminists" or her excerpt on "How to raise your daughter a feminist". She explains it so well and only someone suffering fron weird issues would disagree with her points. |

ijeoma28:I know it can go wrong, or things might go bad... But with an understanding spouse , i think it can be possible and there won't be any stress... Money can cause a big misunderstanding in the house, but not withstanding I'll love to take the risk, that's of course if i know my partner is not a careless type when it comes to money. |

When there is true love, money won't mean shiiiiiii, but the problem is when y'all fall in love for the wrong reasons, Many ladies see marriage as a means of getting away from their pathetic father's house into affluence, And many guys just want a pound of pretty flesh to procreate with, It's all messed up, I'm gonna be like Don Jazzy mehn. |

It depends on the couple and their earnings. It's ideal that whoever earns more, should contribute more. Some families are very traditional, some are modern. Whichever works for you, stick to it. |

GrandFinale2017:The Islamic view on women? The most grotesque form of sexism and misogyny under the sun, you mean? Are you a Muslim? You still haven't answered my question: Is that what you think of your mom, sister(s), and, in fact, all the females in your family? |
