Speaking on the Midday show on The Beat 99.9FM with OAP Toolz, superstar singer Tiwa Savage has said that she and Tee Billz “are doing what they are doing privately and it should remain private” as a response to Toolz’s question on whether they are back together.

Speaking on gender discrimination in the society, she said:

It’s real. I’m not going to say I’m completely comfortable with it but it is what it is. You have to deal with it. If it means you have to work 10 times harder than your male counterparts, don’t complain about it, do what you have to do. We all celebrate people like Oprah and Mo Abudu and we don’t actually realise what they have to do to get to that point. They probably had to do 20 times than their male counterparts. Once you get there, you don’t complain about how you get there. So, whatever it is you have to do as a female, you just have to get it done.

I know I’ll (ruffle) a few feathers but I also don’t think men and women are equal, I don’t think that’s how God created us that way… especially in the household anyway. So I think as females when we realise that yeah we can be strong in our career, but when we are home we have to realise that the man is the head of the house.

She said the day she’ll never forget was the day she had her soon after a 22-hour labour, adding that she has a lot of scars on her body to remind her.

She said she’s embracing her stretch marks, adding that if she were not in the entertainment industry, she wouldn’t have tried to lose weight. She said she has a pouch and she isn’t going to do surgery to get rid of it.

She added that she has plans for her stretch marks, which is to paint them in different colours.

She lamented that women are being seen as wrong when issues arise in relationships whether they are right or wrong.

See the other things she said as penned by Toolz:

She came to the interview with no entourage, she even did her own make-up herself, before arriving; cutting costs.

She does not have any extra cast doing her make-up and all. When the camera goes off, it’s just her and her son. No extras around…

She is working on a song with Coldplay and he was very interested in African dances

The structure of the industry abroad is different, she can record a song and it’s out the next day, on the internet, in Africa. But in the international market, it could take up to a year or two for the song to get out

She doesn’t want her son to feel pressured to do music because that’s what she’s doing and he’s a little shy. If he’s dancing and he catches you watching him, he’d stop.

She’d love for her son to be a ball player (basketball or soccer), so he can buy her a retirement home…

Her most embarrassing day is the first day she had to perform at an event in Eko Hotel and her back zip broke and exposed her back/behind.
If she were a guy, she would get away with a lot more. If she were a male artist, she wouldn’t have as much flack

Good to know she acknowledges man's headship over a woman in the home.

But come to think of it, if a woman humbly acknowledges that the man is the head, and the woman the neck, with submission, the head will only go where the neck directs, without stress.

If she thinks it's okay for her to work 10 times as hard as her male counterparts to been seen as being on the same level with them, then she has totally missed the point of the fight for equality.

Her 'edible caterer' petty household squabble with her husband is not the point for equality and frankly people have moved on from the gist. That's to tell you no one really cares about your business. No one will come to your house to tell you "let the man be the head bla bla bla turn yourself into a neck". You have to live your relationship how it suits you and your partner.

I don't understand why even educated people can't separate their private lives from bigger social issues like feminism.

I still like her and her music BTW.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a man being the head. I will gladly let my man do his thing knowing I am the neck manoeuvring it how I want. wink

I don't think she's saying it's okay. She acknowledges that inequality exists in the workforce (which it does) but that's not the same as A-okay-ing it (which I don't think she's doing). She's saying it's a real problem out there, albeit smart women don't let that deter them from reaching their goals but keep going even if it means working harder. I'm sure women like Mo Abudu and Oprah who're successful in their fields met power struggles along the way but instead of fighting it and complaining they exerted their energy into getting to where there wanted to be.

I get that. My point is she side stepped that. Something that is a very crucial discussion to have about inequality. Only to talk about petty family issues instead. With her platform and the level of her success, as she has recognized that inequality exists, she can lend her voice against it instead of saying women should deal with it. No we aren't supposed to deal with it.

Often times important topics get lost in public discussions of inequality because these successful women are afraid of crushing their partners' or prospective partners' egos that they end up making it about a discussion of how the man is the head of the house when nobody really cares. At least I know I don't care who's head in anyone's house.

If you're interested in talking about inequality, leave your marriage out of it. That microphone wasn't given to you to come massage your husband's ego. If you love and respect him, I'm sure he knows that already.

That's why I love chimamanda. I can bet that she's loving and respectful as all spouses should be to each other but will never use her platform to divert the topic of inequality to one about personal marriage and how other people should run their marriages.

He disappeared his own. And could have escaped with the lame excuse of account being hacked. However Tiwa did the longest video of her career deconstructing the father of her child. Nah to me it deserves a face bath.

What is the problem with acknowledging man as the head of the house, did we say that we will not listen to ur opinions or did we say that we will use u females as slaves,I wonder what is ticking women off nowadays,by the time this misandrist or this feminist idealogy ruins ur marriage then you will come to nairaland and complain that we are cheats or dogs.
