Hello Einteino,

I was told about the bolded by a friend who is currently studying in one of the schools in Canada. He used WES for his transcripts. I also emailed a school i plan to attend and they said they sent the reply below to me

Yes, we would accept a transcript from WES. XXXX School must verify your results.

So yes schools accept WES result. WES will send it on your behalf for a little. This would be faster, cheaper for you and then saves the institution of verifying again.

Hope this helps

Thanks alot. it really helped.

Ok. Lol @ loose knots. It is well. Wish you all the best. Guess the next thing is to share our landing story....which would be stress-free by His grace.
yimiton:
Yes, I got the email address of the lady that attended to me when I went to send the passports and forwarded the mail to her. She had earlier told to me do an authorization letter, so, I typed a letter, signed, scanned and attached it to the pick up email and sent both to the dhl lady.

Planning to leave in January. Got some loose knots to tighten before we pack up and leave.

I qualified in 2000
I evaluated my ACA with Wes in 2015 and they said it was not equivalent of Canadian qualification but said it was 2 years professional study in accounting.

Has anyone on here recently (as in 2017) successfully evaluated their ACA as equivalent of BSc?

Kai! Now, I'm feeling left behind. I'm leaving in January, it seems so far now that I've got my approval! lol.

What province are you going?

Ethiopian Air has some very good rates and there's been some positive reviews about them. I'll most likely try them, you should do the same.

Hi. Am leaving in January too. Was worried that I would be the only one braving the cold. What province are you heading to. I am heading to alberta.

Ontario is my destination. The fear of that cold! at some point we'll have to face it right. December is pretty cold too.

Hope you've started making arrangements for your winter jackets? I remember seeing a suggestion here that we should check Yaba for something warm and buy when we land Canada

Just wondering if the MRA between CIMA and CPA isnt only for CPA Australia? Does it also cover CPA Canada?

hayor2014:
cry embarassed

I have not found any concrete information for ICAN to CPA yet,am honestly looking for a way not to write any exam if possible, and still get the CPA. Right now, ICAN had direct affiliation with CIPFA UK though(no examination),and CIPFA gets you to CIMA,I think you will write 2 papers only to qualify, then you get CPA from CIMA ( there is MRA between CIMA and CPA).
see what laziness has turned me into, looking for shortcut,up and down..

Left behind ke? We are only doing short landing in December.. Still unsure when we'll be leaving for good.

Ethiopian rates look good but read some Trip adviser reviews about their very disorganized Addis airport Where there's a moderate layover. (No energy for wahala with two kids in tow)

Hoping to snag a good deal on Turkish or even BA....( fingers crossed)

Destination: Ontario province for now.

I doubt that professional qualifications are equivalent of BSc degrees any where in the world (they are mostly classified as Associate degrees). University degrees (academic) are usually different from professional qualifications, so I would understand WES' decision. I guess this is why ACCA has a MOU with Oxford Brookes University, where you can write a final project to get a top-up BSc degree. I'm not exactly sure how this works because I'm not in the management sciences, but I remember a colleague did this a few years ago.

Really!? All the reviews I read here were pretty positive, although, I didn't check TripAdvisor. Could it be that they've improved their services or people just have much higher expectations than Nigerians? Were they specific about the result of the disorganisation? Maybe lost luggage etc?

I'll be with my 2 little tots too (first will be 3 years and 11 months while the other will be 1 year and 6 months). Good thing is my husband will be there to ensure things are in order and we'll be landing for good.

I'll find out more about them before we finalise. I don't want my precious luggage lost in any confusion.

After a further search, i discovered it does not apply to CPA Canada, the only route for us is ACCA.

Yes.. Someone was recently evaluated as a 3yr degree.
But it was discovered that it must be from 2014.

Got this info and sharing as received.

Budgeting and saving is an integral part of student life. Before arriving in Canada, you need to know these things.

Canada has one of the most expensive cellphone tariffs in the world. Wireless telecom is controlled by 3 big giants - Bell, Telus and Rogers. Because of their 'oligopoly', they do not allow any new competitor to enter this industry. Their plans are quite expensive for new comers and can cause dent in your budget.

New residents usually go for cheaper plans from Freedom Mobile, Koodo, Public Mobile, chatr mobile, Fido, Virgin Mobile Canada and many more. This is due to the fact that they have far cheaper rates than 'Big 3', however they work on these Big 3's infrastructure, hence one way or the other, your money is still going to 'Big 3'

Prepaid plans are almost non-existent with major carriers. Most of the plans are either on per month basis or on long-term contracts. If you are Bringing Your Own Device (BYOD), make sure it works on 1700Mhz (for 4G).

One of the cheapest way is to get a Data Sim (also known as Tablet Sim or Internet Sim) and with few GBs (around 3GB or more) and receive all your calls and sms via Internet (through apps). Here's how I did it!

Data Sim : Fido with 3 GB for $15/month
Voice/SMS App : Sugar Mobile Inc with $19/90days (which is equal to $6.33/month)

Other options:
Skype Canada Unlimited Calling: $4/month
textPlus / Nextplus Unlimited SMS : Free
TextNow Unlimited Calling/SMS : Free SMS (for free calling, ask me)
Google Hangout Unlimited SMS & Calling : Free

This setup would cost me less than $25/month and I can still receive calls/sms via WiFi internet. On top of that, you can even take this number back in your country and get a local sim there and you would still receive calls on your app with a Canadian number. Only go for this option if you want to make/receive calls via internet (either WiFi or 3G/4G).

Have a great time in Canada!

I am leaving Easter. Seems so far away given the speed with which I got PPR but there are some things I can't hasten.

Heard that Ethiopian is building a new terminal that will be of international standard. Don't know when it will be ready.

Nobody seems to talk about other provinces like Newfoundland, PEI, Yukon, New Brunswick. Is it that there are no Nigerians living there or migrating there?
