While i support the Alaafin's choice in this regard, I feel you are going too far in your characterizations of the criteria for the candidate selection of the title. I heard from the grapevine that the title was Tinubu's for the taking if he really wanted it. Besides, Gani Adams himself has confessed that he almost rejected it due to initial fear until he was persuaded to accept it.

It's like you are suggesting that Abiola and SL Akintola whom were politicians were poor choices on account of their being politicians? Did Abiola achieve more politically than Tinubu or Awolowo for him to have been more deserving of it than both men? Awolowo is arguably the greatest Yoruba politician till date who was persecuted and sent to jail for fighting for his people's interests. Are you saying that SLA was more deserving of the title when it was conferred on him than Awo then? You can express your opinion without diminishing the sacrificial attributes and pedigree of other potentially deserving candidates of the title just to prop up Gani Adam's selection.

Most yoruba men who know 'whats-up' usually avoid that title seeing the fate that befalls it's recipients. Since MKO died, only Obasanjo has actively sought that laurel and it was denied him for political reasons.

I am excited and full of hope for the Yoruba race. History has shown all the past kakanfo's are either rogues or miscreants with questionable characters

Akintola : in conjunction with Awolowo sold the future of Yoruba to the Hausa/Fulani.

MKO : ITT scandal and wealth accumulation by numerous shady ways ( simbi/sami peters/ Dele Giwa exposing drug deals)

Gani Adams: I'm a spiritual member of OPC and I can categorically tell you I was defrauded in 2008(identity card payment that we never got ) and so many more..
Conclusion :
Gani fits well to the post.

There are scores of other men. Both Obasanjo and Tinubu were once candidates. Fayose is capable. If you compare the caliber of men who have held the position before to Ganiu you will notice a disconnect. Look deeper: maybe someone wants a pliant and expendable general ?
