Why yoruba are not cowards, like igbo leader by JUSTICE4Nigeria(op): 6:10pm On Oct 19, 2017
Nnamdi Kanu vs Gani Adams; The Idiocy of a People

By Larry Iloh

Over the weekend, the news was all over the place that the Alafin of Oyo, arguably the highest traditional institution in Yorubaland, has bestowed on Gani Adams the title of Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland (the war Lord or field marshal of Yorubaland). The last person that held that position was late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the Nigerian president that never was.

So, who is Gani Adams and what does he stand for?
Well, I did not know so I googled him. And according to Google, "Gani Adams is a political and social activist. He is a faction leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, a SECESSIONIST organisation based in Nigeria, which supports a sovereign state of the Yoruba people". So, the new field marshal of the Yoruba people is a forty-something year old man who champions the secession of the Yoruba people from Nigeria. He was in and out of prison for organising Yoruba youths against the annulment of June 12 1993 election, which the man he now sits on his title won. His organisation, OPC, wants Oodua republic. Since his new title, there has been a litany of congratulations to him from friends and foes alike from the Yoruba people. He is now their traditional warlord.

Now, turn to Nnamdi Kanu and his Igbo folks. He is doing the same thing Gani Adams did. He is championing the struggle for a sovereign state of Biafra. He is up against the militocratic regime in Nigeria, which treats Igbo people as a conquered people after the war. Kanu wants freedom for Ndigbo. This was seen as treason and terrorism by Buhari govt.
They threw him into detention on trumped up charges. This Buhari govt breached due process and refused several court orders to release him. Even when they eventually allowed court bail under impossible conditions, the govt still sent the military to invade his home and kill some of his supporters... Kanu has been missing since that invasion.

And what did the Igbo leaders and high chiefs do? Like cowards, they cowered; they proscribed Kanu's organisation. Went on global campaign to kotoo Kanu and his organisation, called Kanu a boy (it is only in Nigeria they call a 50 year old man a boy). Then went to Buhari to lick his ass and showcase to the world how idiotic they can be.

Yeah, 'Buhari spoke frankly', they said. He told us we are not marginalised because he gave us 4 substantive ministers. We shouldn't mention the absence of Igbo man as head of any security agency because it is a no go area. If he stopped the money they are stealing from oil, he would look into the East West Road, the 2nd Niger Bridge, the dilapidating Enugu International Airport, bla bla bla. Meanwhile, the govt continues to borrow money to invest in the North. The world bank continues, under govt instruction, to focus on developing the North. No mention of Kanu or any of his political detainees in kuje prison. No mention of those unarmed youths murdered by the Nigerian army in Abia state. No mention of the Fulani herdsmen who are killing local farmers and villagers at random in Igboland. No mention of any reparations for Biafrans for the destructions and deprivations they suffered during the war, and the institutional neglect of the South East by Nigerian govt after the war. Instead, they must unite to demonize any agitation for Biafra...

Tomorrow, we cry marginalisation. Who will even waste time to listen to us, when they know that Igbo leaders are wimps?
Shame on you, Igbo leaders and governors... 'Idiots of no comparison'

Well done, Alafin of Oyo and Yoruba leaders. Congratulations, Gani Adams. The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland!

The elected leaders in the South Eastern Nigeria are not just cowards but foolish at the same time.....
They are only after their benefit and that of their immediate family.

Yes agree without bias.. the south east leaders are cowards becoz of their selfish interest...infact "coward" is an understatement.. south west leaders are more brave.(like fayoshe and ambode)

But but on the contrary, igbo youths are more brave than yoruba youths tho.. im talking from experience.

A yoruba guy can recieve just one slap from his agemate and he will run away shouting.. "aah aah mogbe!! mogbe!!" holding his cheeks rather than facing him squarely.

But an average igbo guy would rather face u and die even if u are beating him to a pulp he would make sure he atleast got one punch in return.

If your assertion is true then these 'brave ' igbo youths would have turned on the cowardice leaders by now. After kanu went missing we have not heard from any of those 'brave' youths. Why??

Tell that to Gani Adam's OPC who confronted the military junta. Where was Nnamdi kanu and all he 'brave' igbos? Buhari cannot try the shit he tried on your region here in the west and he knows it.

Y'all are empty chest beaters. A wise man chooses his battles and fights courageously. The fight for sessesion was a lost cause from the start.

We advised you to team up with the west and south south to demand referendum but you said we were cowards.
I hope your 'bravery' has produced a country else shame on you all.

Yorubas are naturally ahead of others..

Believe it or not, we have our future clearly mapped out
Lagos has been economically viable as opposition state when Igbos under PDP got all their allocations as at when due. Even when Obasanjo held Lagos allocations for years, no impact was felt.

It will shock those chest beaters from across the Niger what will be done to them in Yorubaland should the country split. It's only a matter of time

if you have to shout to the whole world to prove that you're not a coward, then you definitely are a coward.

I've seen several post were yorubas beg people not to see them as cowards, those post just prove maybe you guys might definitely be cowards.

that's why you also support the cow herders up north.

@Larry,

Yea, I identify with your line of argument, just a little.

The OPC appears to have become more rooted with the Yoruba society, liking up the energy and aspirations of the youths with the Yoruba elite, the traditional institutions and the political elite. -a success story. I agree

Nnamdi Kani and his IPOB; a different story.

But before you heap all the blames on the leadership of South East, I have just 2 words for you to ponder. Just 2:

1. The man, Nnamdi Kanu: did Nnamdi allow himself to be guided by the leadership you have so loftily accused now? Did he listen to their council? If anything, he declared war on them and at home (threat to stop Anambra election, even when we know he can't).

Does it not surprise you that a project such as restoring Biafra has only one man as the supreme leader, no council, no board, no committee? Nna, IPOB bu private business. One man's hustle, take it or leave it.

2. Igbo leaders and what Igbos want: if you are a leader, you will be expending energy promoting and championing what those you lead want. Do Igbos want to breakaway from Nigeria at this point in time? Have we not been through that part before and what happened? Igbos lost all they laboured for and fell from a dominating tribal position to almost obscurity. Just now that we are begining to regain momentum in commerce, transport, education, academia, etc. A rabble rouser who at almost 50 has not built a house in Igboland comes and says let's fight them again.

I'm very disappointed in you that you are comparing Yoruba situation to Igbos. Yourubas have not cut their teeth with war and secession. This is their own morning. You, as an Igbo. Should be extending words of guidance to them as they begin to see what Igbos say 50 years ago.

So instead of advocating for Igbos, to copy Yorubas, Igbos are on a different stage of the journey. Odi tried also and received their comeuppance under a Youruba president. Na today? The middle belt is waking up to know their is no North but fulani.

Igbos should simple lie low, do our trade and wait for all other parts of the country to awaken. We have had the first-mover blues. We shouldn't repeat same mistakes.

Until Yourubas, Ijaws, Effiks, Anangs, Biroms, Miyangos, etc. Etc. The ethnic nationalities that make up Nigeria are ready to talk seriously about Nigeria, Igbos should just lie low. After all, statistics have shown na oburo anyi ka oka njo.

So stop griping. Nobody is a coward.

IPOB is out of control and needed to be curtailed. Meanwhile Nnamdi Kanu has done nothing to show he cares about the youth that are dying needlessly, just for him to maintain a particular posture. At the height of Abia crises, Emma Powerful was calling on IPOB units to move into Umuahia to defend Biafraland. Was that not a call for them to go and confront soldiers and die?

Bros, leaf mata
