I had my interview on the 27th of September and they told me to expect an outcome in four weeks from then. So I'm expecting some form of outcome between Monday the 30th and Friday the 3rd of November...
Might be later though because I noticed they do things mostly in 6 weeks intervals .

You right about the 6 weeks interval. But they have told all who did the interview about the 4 weeks. So some the 4 weeks might finished or almost at the end of them.I don’t know how they will announce the results, individually or all of us at the same time?
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by daudakarimou4: 12:40pm On Oct 11, 2017
Yeah I have no idea too bro , but I think it's probably going to be in and around the same time. It has to be soon too because application to Universities and Visa application and processing all takes some time. You know, the academic year begins on Feb 26, so let's be hopeful, it will be be released soon

Also, something am not sure about is whether we will get the final short lists after this stage because according to the timeline, there is something like submission of IELTS results before final short listing. They only spoke about referees during the interview without any mention of the English language thing and that is also a requirement...

As for UOA supervisor is not necessary when you are applying. Just apply after your application pass their admission criteria, the will contact you to choose your supervisor.that is how I myself got the admission

Thanks alot. That was very helpful.

I also wondered why no mention of the IELTS was made during the interview. Me I'm not ready for the English test wahala, they had better forget it.

I think they will let the IELTS for universities as we will need to provide offer of place at our chosen universities, and I believe each university has its own IELTS requirement.

I don't think they need it anymore. Most people who got the scholarship last year wrote IELTS but they never used it so it was like a waste of money for them.
They see Nigeria as an English speaking country just the way UK sees us too. For me Massey university waived Test of English when I told them I did my undergrad in English but unfortunately my CGPA wasn't up to the course I was applying for so it was declined

I see, that's good. As one of our friends said, it's likely gonna be decided at the level of University placement. For some one like me who comes from a french speaking country, I'm sure UoA will ask for some form of English proficiency if I make it there...

For the bank account: You can open one through migrant banking with any of the major banks but they'll require your visa before processing. No visa no processing

For accommodation, You can get your Uni accommodation (shared or single room or whichever you like) or ask them about their temporary accommodation arrangement. You can also check online via trademe or facebook: flatting in auckland but its best you see the place before making any payments. So if you don't want uni accommodation, I'll advise you stay in any of these neat backpackers or hostel (eg YMCA or YWCA) for the first 1-2weeks while searching for a place. You can use agents as well but be aware that there'll be some fees beside your rent and bond.

I'm not so good with NZ accommodation anyway but I hope this helps. You're on PTDF so you won't have wahala. wink

Hello House.

I need advice on securing accommodation as well as opening a bank account in Auckland.

I got an offer to do my PhD in AUT. I have also been awarded PTDF scholarship.

My challenge is the fact that I will be receiving my first payment from PTDF after I had arrived NZ and opened an account.

Your help and advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello, my fellow brother,

I am in need of an advice from my brothers in NZ and I think you will be in the best position to give the real information down there. Let me start like this. I hold a B.Sc Degree (Hons) in Statistics in Nigeria and currently doing my Masters degree in Financial Economics in South Africa right now and I will be through with my degree in July 2018.
So, I am planning to relocate to NZ immediately after my Masters and I have read a lot about NZ but I am still not getting the information needed. Please, kindly find my bothering questions below.

1. I want to know how difficult or easy it is to get a job with a foreign certificate in NZ especially with South Africa degree. NB: I read on NZ Qualification Website that, South Africa Degree is more recognizable and its equivalent to NZ Qualification.

2. Generally, Is there jobs in NZ? And what is the probability of me getting a job in my field?

2. Cost of living

3. Racism and kiwi lifestyle.

Some people are saying, its easy to get a job, while some saying its difficult, so I want to consult lengthy before I make this decision, so I won't be in mess and NZ is quite far from Home. Your details reply will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

1. SA qualifctions are widely accepted here. In fact there's a massive SA community here and they are actively courted for work so that puts you in good stead

2. Yes there are jobs here. There's a massive regeneration going on and skilled labour is still scarce. No idea about your field

2. Very expensive. Whatever it says online, double it! Rent is due weekly. Eating in season is a good way of keeping costs down and stay away from Nigerian foods as they cost an arm and a leg

3. I haven't experienced any. There are few blacks. I know there's racism towards the Asians. However, compared to the UK where I lived for 10 years, there's little racism here. maybe they're very good at hiding it which is a good thing!

In terms of seeking for work, my advice will be if you can afford it come on a visiting visa. Then actively spend that time looking for work and building contacts. Most employers will offer you a job and give you time to apply for the visa. An offer of employment as makes the visa process so much easier and faster

Thanks[/quote]

So generally, in average how much one person will spend/week including rent, food and other expenses?
Thanks

Hello all,
Please I need your opinions on this. I applied for a student visa. I have been contacted by my case officer. Was asked to send my phone number, so that we can discuss my visa application. She was supposed to call me yesterday, but I didn't see her call. Please, who has ever experienced this? What kind of discussion will it be? What kind of question(s) Will I be asked? I'm really anxious and nervous.
Funny enough, I've "glued" my phone to myself, ever since I got the mail.
Thanks for your opinions.

Be prepared to spend at least $2000 monthly on all your bills and that is a conservative estimate. Rents vary depending on where you live and if you are in shared accommodation. Public transport is not so expensive and car costs are relatively low as insurance is not compulsory. Petrol is also relatively cheap. However parking is very expensive. Most houses are not well built or insulated so the costs of heating and keeping the house mold free ramps up expenses. Newer houses are better insulated and conversely more expensive to rent. But the lifestyle here makes it very much worth it. People are friendly, there is work as the Kiwis re generally lazy, children are very welcome, it's clean and it takes only 2 years to get permanent residency.

Anyone studying at Massey University?
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by hellokitty1: 9:27pm On Oct 20, 2017
Hi there

I'm a Preferred Candidate from NZDS, I received the notification at the end of September and I already get the Letter of Offer from my chosen university (Massey) one week ago.

For those who already get the scholarship, when should I expect the notification from MFAT to send me the Scholarship Letter of Offer?

And, should I apply to my second option if I'm already received the Offer from my first option?
