You are welcome wink

It might take some time to grow. And also leave your edges alone, stay away from wigs or if you do any other protective style tell your hair dresser to leave it alone. Those hair are very fragile.

Don't let any hair style be too tight or small, or else it's going to continue breaking and you wouldn't see any progress

@lovelygurl pls I just did a big chop 2 days ago, my hair is low porosity type, what is the next step, I saw you adviced someone with low cut not to do any thing with her hair for now, though her own is medium

If it's really short than don't stress yourself. You can choose to moisturise with a leave in or an oil. You don't really need a deep conditioner for now though, perhaps when your hair grows longer.

If you notice your leave in doesn't sink in, then add some water to it. And only apply either oil or leave in on damp hair.

helloo house pls i use the product"hair mayonnaise " as my deep conditioner but i dont see d after result when i wash it off my hair still feel strong and not soft, i felt loke crying bcuz i just wasted my 1800 in buying it.what product ll u recommend 4 deep conditioning dat ll leave my hair soft?

I'd say first do a porosity test so you won't waste more money on products, which don't work for you.

The mayonnaise might not have worked because of the protein. That's if you have low porosity hair. Especially if your had felt kind of straw like.

If you have high porosity hair, you can still make it work by adding oils or avocado butters, or even Shea butter. Anything for added moisture. And a deep conditioner should be left on your hair for at least 30mins. You might want to try hair wonder products though. People here say they're good

Loooool grin

It's just that it's complicated teaching guys who don't know the different between those two textures why it has to be cut. I have to explain what natural hair is and what relaxed hair is, why I have to cut it etc

And after explaining and explaining they still don't understand
girlll! grin grin I know this feeling!
Even when I explained to my mum,she didn't get it so I just told her not to worry I will show her the outcome.. My brother had this look of "letmepretendlikeIunderstandyou" grin

Phew!! So I just finished going through this thread and I have decided to go and wear my patience cloak for this natural hair journey cheesy hopefully school doesn't frustrate my efforts

I just realised I don't know nothing shocked and I still have a long way to go, didn't even know there was something called hair scissors undecided I just used the regular scissors for my mini chop, I have to learn how to stick to a routine(I suck at this) etc. Anyhow, I must do this so that I can boast of how I achieved the one thing I set out to do grin

And please Yay to the whatsapp group cool

You're doing a great job lovelygurl

It gets easier with time, believe me wink

To be honest, I used a regular scissors to big chop mum's hair. Just made sure it was extremely sharp, so her ends would not be split. A hair scissors is of course the best and safest way but if you are extremely careful, you won't need it grin

And thaaank you kiss

Hair wonder cream and oil and shampoo
Youcharia:

Hmmm...i decided to get creative with my hair and found my way to google and google brought me here..
Special thanks to lovelygurl, and all naturalists in d house

I did the BIG CHOP October 1st..
I knew nothing about transitioning cos before chopping off everything, i stopped putting relaxer on the hair for close to 8months (reason= i hate d smell of relaxer) and asking my aunt to make my hair for me became a problem as she always complain the hair is too strong and i should go relax it before she touches d hair. So i got tired of my strong hair and pains from combing and found my way to the barber's shop and BAM!!

All I've been doing since is pour water on my hair, wash it with my bathing soap and sponge, rinse, dry the hair as I'm drying my body and off i go to work, no cream, no oil, nothing nothing on d hair...

But it's about to change...
I need cheap products please grin and also their names in order to properly begin my hair journey

I took this picture last two weeks and i like to think my hair has grown longer than that wink

And ohh, I'm in support of d whatsapp group, I've always wanted to join team natural hair whatsapp groupgrin even though i wasn't one of 'em

Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Crystalbell17: 4:12pm On Oct 23, 2017
Someone advised me to use Hair Wonder Leave in Conditioner as a replacement for Cantu.
So, I went to Jumia to get price estimate. All I saw was Hair Wonder Oil, Shampoo and Cream. Pls is the Cream the same thing as the Leave In Conditioner or are they different. If yes? How can I get it. If no? Another Cantu substitute is needed.
God bless

Whatsapp Group "Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair

Anyone interested in joining a whatsapp group should feel free to send me a pm and then her/his( cos we do not want to be a sexist cheesy) number. I would not post it here directly for safety's sake.

The Group

♡ will act as a motivation to anyone interested, since we'll be sharing our hair journey with each other and also be pushing ourselves
♡reviews of products will be shared, in order for you to have an idea if a product is/not going to work for you
♡hair videos/hair style ideas will be posted on my whatsapp status
♡names of naturalistas on social media, who you can follow will be listed

Note:
I'm not up for drama. What happens here on Nairaland stays on Nairaland, in other words I don't care if aunty Bose has beef with aunty Ife here on Nairaland, as long has you don't bring your wahala into the group we are fine.

It's crazy how we all have different experiences

There's NO SINGLE natural hair product in drugstores except for 1 here. You have to order everything online. Let's not start with foundations. Just 2 brands with few colors for us. And this actually just changed recently. Last year we had NOTHING. I'm sooooo jealous cry. I knew you'd find a lot of options loool!

Was in the drugstore the other day to take a closer look at those Foundations that are meant for us. Actually non is my skin tone. Plus they only have two darkest shade undecided

Who told them black girls are only two shades!
Actually, it doesn't make sense, they should pull the foundation shades out of their store

Even Douglas's Foundation has only one dark shade grin

Luckily, Sephora is now in Germany. Their store should have every shade range, maybe that will prompt other drug store to stock them

Loool! Didn't even bother to check. I bet one is with a red undertone, so red you'll look like a black Trump and the other so yellow, you could as well pass as white grin

Didn't know Sephora is in Germany though shocked

But damn from what I've heard, their stuff is sooooo expensive

grin grin grin I was so surprised
I wasn't expecting to see any here coupled with the fact that my city is small, and the white people here are more.

Wow! Even that one store would be very expensive right?
Blacks in America literally had to fight for foundation colors that suits our tonecheesy..
Lol! Don't be jealous I will use them on your behalf tongue.
Don't worry, I'm pretty sure with time there will be more options for you guys there.
Sending a pm soon kiss

On a side note
I just realised that the hair cream I got from Nigeria is hair wonder. Its a really nice product and it worked perfectly for my relaxed hair. So I'm guessing their products will work fine for natural hair too.
Funny enough I abandoned it somewhere lipsrsealed
