You are getting it wrong.. I think many ladies are even getting the idealism of feminism all wrong. Feminism has nothing to do with sentimental buttering to d female gender.... Women who wanna make an impact in our society, who won't allow the social norm and gender roles stop her from aiming high... That's a feminist. I trust Nigerians to bastardize a concept to fit their purpose. P.S we have different levels of feminism and we have male feminists. These male feminists actually helped the early female activists fight to be involved in politics, the right to vote.

I know for a fact that employers will most likely pick a man over a woman with equal qualification... I love my dad but he does this too... They give reasons like she will concentrate more on her home than her job... But I think that's because she was brought up to think that's what she's suppose to do....

I will use the most popular reason some Nigerian women are fighting for feminism...
A sexually promiscuous boy Vs. A sexually promiscuous girl...
A boy that drinks, smokes, does drugs and others will grow out of it with time... But a girl is an 'omo wobe' that is never marriageable

I think you will find very rare instance of an African woman saying she's going to work and her husband should sit at home... But intelligently stupid (forgive my language) men say that all the time without fear...

Can you guys truly deal with sharing the bills? Can you guys truly handle a woman who is independent and can handle half the bills in a home without messing with your ego and the need to be seen as head of the house and provider of the home? Can it truly work without causing problems?

Secondly, feminism means equality, equality of the sexes, so if you guys want equality in handling bills that means that there must be equality in cleaning cooking and taking care of the kids, note I didn't say the man will help the woman do the above, I said equality, meaning the wife will be at home while the husband will go to the kitchen to cook and bring the food and serve himself and his wife, she won't do anything. And they rotate the cooking cleaning and taking care of the kids like that, Or another way they both cook, clean and take care of the kids together?

If you can handle these 2 points then there is no big deal in sharing the bills

Spare me that poo that feminism is of the sexes. Equity has no sexes. For both party to the happy, everything has to be done 50/50 with due respect for both parties.
If you think because you contributed 50% of the bills, you can behave anyhow, not receiving double impact slap is not guaranteed.

The idea of feminism is quite misunderstood. The feminists are not asking for a chance to rule men or even rule the world. They are just seeking equality, they want their voice of reason to be heard. When the girl child becomes an important entity in a family and is regarded as equal to a male, things will be fine. No one is trying to paint men as villains, sometimes misconceptions could arise. The girl child iis given less respect, less care, less education, less love, maltreatments and funny enough more is expected of them. You'll never hear a boy forced into early marriage. Some parents may send their sons to school but not their daughters; all because they think her place is in the kitchen. Most times we forget that women play important roles in every activities of life. Why then do we think that the feminine folks are not intelligent, dignified and allowed to do some certain things? Why are they restricted? It's not up to a month that the women in Saudi Arabia were allowed to drive vehicles. Some countries still prohibit women from getting involved in politics. When a female boss scolds a staff, she is rude and arrogant but when it's a male boss, he has discipline. A spinster is not supposed to have a car cos the guys will run from her. But a man with a car is tagged an achievement. Since men willingly entrusts women with the task of raising their children and helping the family grow, they should also give them the chance to be progressive outside of marriage. Being a career woman, politician, feminist, etc will not stop a responsible woman from managing her home lovingly. Leave the feminists to have peace of mind. I'm not a feminist and i do not support the idealism of chauvinism. I only promote EQUALITY.

This is the best definition of feminism I've ever seen and strangely, it's the first time I'm seeing it.
It is a definition I will give my full support.

But from what I can see, it is not how the champions of the the feminist movement define it.
Even Mrs/Ms/Miss Adichie's definition as given by ReinaFarine is not totally in alignment with yours.
What are we to do?
