Even though I live in America, there is something I so much love about London that I cant even explain. I think its just the historical feel about it. Europe in general if you ask me.

That's interesting, I also like the fact EU countries have their character- You can distinguish them largely based on their layout and architecture. Ask afam4ever he hates Eu for these their 'old' buildings but prefers the shiny box architecture of NY and co lol

so I decided to visit a Nigerian family I met while on a train I took Liverpool Street Station on Monday who invited me to their home. They made me a feast, chai!. I finally ate my first naija food (apart from indomie) since my arrival.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the food, sorry! Its all in my tummy now!

Just goes to show not everyone is a jackass like those that refuse to pick their relatives at the airport after agreeing to.

Still dont understand why people do this, at worse arrange a cab/uber to the house if the drive is tedious

What a question!

It's a good question.Do you know the cost and stress of relocating? Maybe you're just a "newbie"...Most relocation is done by an individual who after settling sends for family! Even at that it takes alot of time and resources too.

I could'nt help but laugh at some of the comments I've read here. It made me remember a dp I saw where they indicated ladies be hiding their boo, only to spring up an IV one day, expecting to get money off you for asoebi, after which the hiding begins again, only to announce yet again that there's a baby, expecting that you will be generous enough to drop an envelope. Then, the cycle resumes again grin

But on a serious note, sometimes its not even the village factor that makes people keep their relocation plans to themselves. I remember getting the most demoralizing lecture from my friend when I informed her I was relocating. I heard of how I was running away instead of staying to fix the problem(I am not sure Messiah appears anywhere in my name) and how I was only interested in the freebies the foreign country had to offer and all sorts. This was from someone who had never even been to Cotonou! I felt so low after the conversation and this was me who was already anxious and nervous. Needless to say, I learnt to keep my mouth shut after that, as it was even out of courtesy I informed people not necessarily because I owed anyone a copy of my itinerary!

Maybe not necessary more diverse but race doesn't play a huge role, if you know what I mean. You're more likely to have to tick black, white, Asian etc in the U.S. than in the Uk

What do you mean race doesn't play a role? Unless you stay in diverse areas like Brixton or Lewisham. Come and live in onyibo areas like Richmond upon Thames and then you'll know what's up.

They call it a credit card, but each £ you spend, puts you into debt....

The more debt you think is comfortable to pay, the further the debt grows, putting the card holder in a debt crisis situation.......

Let's assume your credit card limit is £3000. You completely exhaust your credit limit, and only pay back the minimum payment amount, it could take you up to 15 years to pay back that £3000. In that 15 years, you would have paid back almost £20,000 in total.
Earning the bank a £17000 profit margin in that period. So you see why it's called a 'debt' card?

You are very very wrong.Yes is called a credit card and the fund in it is meant for spending. You cant reside in the western world without a credit card, you just have to be a prudent spender and not an impulse buyer just because you have a credit card.

Let me use your illustration.Your credit card limit is $3000 for example,to have a good credit score, you are not suppose to spend more than 65% of that money which is $1,950 every month.

If your minimum payment happens to be $50 every month,to avoid charges,it will be for your own good to pay back in full the exact amount you spent from your credit card and not the minimum payment($50).

Do this for good 6 - 9 months and see how your credit limit will rise to $10,000 or more with juicy offers knocking on your door with mostly 0 APR,and your credit score in the range of 750 -850.

Now back to your advise using debit card,is it not same money you intend to spend from credit card you will also spend using your debit card?So why not just spend it from you credit card in which will make you have better offers if you want to get a car, house etc than spending from your debit card with not benefit to gain.

The major problem people have with credit card is impulse spending or lack of finance management. That is when debt start piling up and it makes them run bankrupt.

Contrary to your notion, you can reside in the western world without a credit card.
If the credit holder thinks they can manage their balance and be prudent, that's fair.
But circumstances beyond the cardholders control might overcome the holder, and they get their fingers burnt......
Learn to live without a credit card and live within your means.........

The only debt I feel is to be encouraged is a mortgage.......

And when the juicy credit card limit is increased because you are managing your credit well, that would be the start of temptation and running the credit card as a debit card. Then holder starts joggling one credit card against the order card offering 0% interest rate for 6 months.

Then the joggling starts getting out of hand, in the process of joggling, the cardholder becomes unemployed for a period....... Do I need to explain any further to you?

If this is the only thing @ bolded, then is worth having. The only people i see complain about credit cards are the ones who cant manage their spending.
