when i just got here, i used to spend like 4 - 5 cedis only on food.. Cuz i only eat once, i brought garri (cassava grain) from Nigeria and then i bought a long bread... So i usually buy jollof rice/plain (white) rice of about two cedis, meat one or two cedis and then pure water 1 cedis (which is 5 in quantity). So i did that till when i was able to settle, i now have cooking stuffs. So i might eat in the canteen like only the morning and take garri or the bread at night or bread/garri in the morning and then buy food in the evening. That's how i survived it till i got an apartment and bought cooking stuffs. This is all in Kumasi.. I don't know anything about Accra. Thanks
Ive been ffl this thread for a while and Im Glad you've found comfort...

Bt this meal plan is got me thinking... breaking it down
jollof rice/white 2 cedis(#160), two meat 2 cedis(#160) and pure water 1 cedis(#80) for five...

Those two meats cost abt #100 here, #80 will buy you half bag of pure water here( 10qty same 50cl).

also lets forget agege bread...that shoprite bread is about #350... I might be naive bt things still look ok here foodwise compare to there. open to criticism.

hey bro.. Like i said earlier.. Whenever you are outside Nigeria, don't bother to do the exchange of what you are spending.. The exchange rate is not in favour of Nigeria, it's expensive to you because you did the exchange to our currency.. Here, to their currency, it's so cheap, imagine you have 400 cedis, and you are to pay just 1 cedis for a transport, 5 cedis for a bread and so, it's cheap to their currency.. Even people that are in uae, u.s.a knows and understand that, you can ask them, some of them take cab of about 100 dollars a day, but because it's to their currency and economy over there, it doesn't affect their pocket. So that's how it is here too.. So please whenver you are outside Nigeria, don't bother to try to calculate or do the Exchange of what you are spending. And one cedi is not N100, sometimes it's N87 and sometimes N81 and sometimes higher than N87. Thanks

So because one police man apologized it means all are the same okwia? Bread 5 cedis aka N500 is cheap abi, how much is their pure water, the light na free? You haven't gotten a job yet you dey brag, okay when you get a job update us. Why haven't you started living large immediately. Eating garri everyday is unhealthy
Hi, you are in Nigeria your home country.. Are you living large there? And mind you, before i start planning to relocate to this place, i have about 400k in my account and living in a free single room self contained. I was okay with myself in Nigeria, i do not have it all but i was comfortable. Why do you think i made the choice to relocate? I came here knowing fully well the consequencies, hun.. I could have continue living in my little luxury in Nigeria, but please.. If it's like i wanted more, i could have choosed dubai instead, i can get people to assist me with few more tokens with what i had and go for dubai, but all i wanted was 2 leave Nigeria. As time goes by, i will be okay here and i'd get on tracks, hun?

I was okay with myself in Nigeria, i do not have it all but i was comfortable now i came here, i'm now living in a single room, sleeping on the floor, taking garri.. Why do you think i made the choice? Nigeria is fast becoming something else, it is not secure.. Things are not going well with my country.. I came here knowing fully well the consequencies, hun.. I could have continue living in my little luxury in Nigeria, but please.. If it's like i wanted more, i could have choosed dubai instead, i can get people to assist me with few more tokens with what i had and go for dubai, but all i wanted was to leave that shithole country.. Nigeria was fast becoming hell on earth. As time goes by, i will be okay here and i'd get on tracks, hun? Even those that travelled to dubai didn't just get there to start a luxurious life, you can ask justi4jesu what it feels like... And me not getting a job till now is all my fault, i am not always good at searching for jobs since i have not once search for one.. I deal with the computers.. Getting the right connection will set my feet on the rock here soon.. Very soon i say, i'd be back at my feet my sister. And i know few Nigerians here that always give thanks to God for the choice they made to leave that country.. And even though all the policemen are not the same, but with this little time have spent here, my sister, here is quit peaceful than many states and places in Nigeria.. And the electricity you are paying for in Nigeria, i know you can count the hours you do use them in a day.. Wether it's expensive here or not, it's worth it.. It's 24/7.. And 5 cedis ain't N500 and like i said earlier, whenever you are out of Nigeria, stop trying to do the exchange to Nigeria currency, you'd cry.. The exchange is not in favour of Nigeria naira at all.. Common cedi is now N87.. Is Nigeria and it's leaders not ashamed of themselves? Hun. Common cedi ooo. I pity that country.. I'm just glad i'm free from it first and i pray God will protect people i left there.. I have no plan to return t that country ever again. But if i return still someday, i pray God will continue to keep me as He has always been doing in that country.

I don't have a problem with you leaving, what is my business na? But where I have a problem is your throwing unnecessary insults "mumu country" is it not Ghanaians that made their country the way it is now? Same people who we drove out of our country like thieves. If you've not contributed to making Nigeria better then just quit insulting and move on.

If you don't know what Ghana did to their currency then I'm afraid you are ignorant. You can't buy the value of a cedi to its Naira equivalent, this should tell you that the Naira is still more valuable

Drinking garri everyday and feeling all is well is not the best, you are saying it's your fault you haven't gotten a job but if you were here you will blame govt for not giving you job. If you had N400K here, that's not still luxury now bro.

Nothing concern me about your decision to relocate but try not to ridicule our country especially online.

that depends on you.. It depends on how busy you are.. Like in my place presently, we always switch off our light (since it's prepaid) in the morning around 8am cuz our line is always empty during the day and we put it on again in the evening when everyone is back at home like around 6 or 7 pm.. And last i witnessed recharged was 40 cedis for three weeks now. If it's gonna be just you, you can decide on your light.. Most houses have prepaid installed. So you can even be at home sometimes and decide to switch your electricity off to save money and others.. So the price, everything is in your hand to control my brother.

I hope everyone can see the level of hypocrisy going on here, if this OP was in Nigeria will he ever switch off his prepaid meter to conserve light when it's not in use? Why is it that people behave unreasonably in Nigeria but comport themselves well abroad her they will not waste time in condemning our country, OP it is you, Mr and everyone else living in Nigeria that will make it better, the number one cause of our problem remains unpatriotism, we don't value our own.

You mentioned Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen as your security problems then I assume you stay in the North, possibly Maiduguri or maybe in the rural parts of Taraba or Benue (for herdsmen), if not then you have unresolved issues with fear.

You criticize the government for making laws at the same time you are demanding more laws from them, smh if you as a man is so keen on protection what of the millions of women and children that are going about their lives in peacr , still in the same country where you are fleeing for your life? It seems you want the government to give you an armed escort as you go about your daily life abi.

Nobody is bothered about your present location especially not me, you should be posting this nonsense of yours on ghanaland not coming here to bite the finger that's giving you the platform to communicate.
