While I've had my fair share of rolling in mud pits with a certain snake peppersoup blogger and some other random guy to last me 2 decades and a half, i won't take the bickering route with you cos its self worth draining.

Back to some substance:

What's the population of the United States?

Can you give a clear estimate of the number of people who die in Nigeria yearly due to non existent healthcare system? ; not including people who die while travelling by road and sea, people who disappear daily in the hands of kidnappers and ritualists(story for another day).

Don't get carried away with these statistics. The United States has a system that works and this is clearly evident in the lives of wealthy and affluent Nigerians

Food for thought for you; why do hardworking, well meaning, wealthy nigerians raise their families , seek medical help, invest outside your very own safe haven?

Nigeria is a failed nation(zero); take it or throw it away.

When an average nigerian is able to seek and find decent job, seek medical help easily without having to die 1st, travel less than 400 miles route without constantly dodging pot holes, get necessary assistance from your govt for college, have easy access to loans to start up business then you can bring up these your findings and I'll very well listen,

All the bank managers the blogger talked about in this article, do you know the shady things they do to acquire their wealth? Is this normal?

Are you not aware your senators in your country which is below 3rd world earn more than presidents in developed countries? Is this normal?

Your nation doesn't even have a database with all the identities of its citizens; since 1960 till tomorrow and this is normal!

Nigeria is too blessed a nation to be in the condition that it is. Realists should acknowledge that fact than put up article like this.

Don't get me wrong, soooo many nigerians suffer outside Nigeria largely cos of their route of entry.

No where in this world where illegals have it easy so when you see some nigerians graduates doing menial jobs abroad; they are the cause of their problems.

While I am not an expert, I still know that migrating to a new country isn't at all easy at first but a couple years down the line with hard work, life becomes " another day in paradise ".

1 is for visitors and is a standalone just when you enter the house before getting into the living room.

The other 2 are ensuite complete with bath and wash hand sink in the bedrooms.

Buhahaha!!

Really surprise he's/she's still awake at this time still breaking out his/her frustrations on the Americans who don't give a damn what anyone thinks about them. They have fifty blessed states with blessed territories to enjoy the best of everything what man and nature can ever offer in life...as well as a passport that gives them visa free access to 174 countries and more.

And yes, what can one boast about dear Nigeria?

I haven't been to America but I don't know in God's name why someone will be so mad and envious of that opportunity-laden country or other Developed European countries. For instance, I am a freelancer in Naija here and 80% of my income is from America. There is opportunity and hope in such countries. I do love Naija so much but I can't join the bandwagon of people claiming this country is a sane place to live. Do you even know the percentage of people that are suffering in this country? Do you know how many people that stop me on the road and ask for money everyday?

This issue is not even debatable at all. I am making a good money from my freelancing job, high enough to give me a good life in Naija. But do you know what, I am planning to leave this f*cked up county soon. I need to be in a stable environment and start planning for my unborn children... Moving to a place where I can make better use of my skills, make more money and live a good life.

As a freelancer, I am even scared of the police because they will mistaken you for a yahoo boy and victimise you. Its time to stop arguing blindly. I love Naija but I love my life more...

FYI: I am going on a vacation in the next couple of weeks from Money I earned while virtually living in America. I paid my travel expenses in just 2 days without even feeling it... tell me the percentage of legit working class Nigerians that can afford that??

damn true.

just opened a Fiverr account.

Were blacks not once slaves in America and how many have ruled the country so far? The color of your skin makes you second class otherwise you can keep deceiving yourself grin

That's not even the issue on this thread, let's not derail.

Jeez, this is so lame. Funny how you lob in a snide remark like this then skid off under the pretext of not derailing the thread.

Are you Hausa or a Northerner, if not then you are equally a second class citizen in Nigeria. Your ethnic background makes you second class otherwise you can keep deceiving yourself.

The last time i checked there were more people suffering in the northern part of Nigeria than the west, east or south. All they got is a very small elite group that controls power. It doesnt reflect in the lives of the people down there. In the south and west hausas and fulani are used for cheap slave labor

Going by the logic of the poster I quoted the fact that Northern Nigeria controls the political power (small elite or not) then people outside that ethnic group are second class citizens... otherwise, [s]everything you have written here doesn't count[/s] we can keep deceiving ourselves.

But hold on a minute.

If, by your own admission, there are more people suffering in Northern Nigeria, a region that constitutes the bulk of the Nigerian population, doesn't that run counter to the premise of the argument on this thread that Nigerians have it better in terms of life's material needs than the Americans?

While it may seem extraneous to this thread the reason I called out that pattern of thought is that it appears to be how you approach the real subject of this argument.

We can let it rest now because you are indirectly admitting that any Nigerian, yourself included, who is not of Northern extraction is essentially a second class citizen.

Let that sink in for a minute.

According to the Human Development Index (HDI), a report used by the United Nations which is an aggregate of statistics covering things like education, life expectancy and per income indicators from virtually all the countries in the world, there are several countries ranking higher than the US. Countries like Norway, Australia, Switzerland and a few others have higher rankings than the US which ties with Canada on the No.10 spot on that list.

Its funny how people on this thread are bashing the US based on anecdotal reports. Little or no attempt has been made to introduce an objective standard to compare the US and Nigeria here as is typical of Nairaland debates.

By the way, on the HDI report Nigeria comes in at 152 (for 2016) out of the 188 countries on the list.

I took my time to read the whole thread, let me clarify few things here;

1. You can never compare Nigeria to America in anyway

2. It's not easy to make good money in America like people think

3. Beggars are in America like we have in Nigeria

4. You can make more than a million naira in America every month without American degree

5. Many Nigerian in America are lazy! Therefore they complain a lot and give people back home fake story.

6. No need to hate people in America because you don't have chance to be there

7. No need to look down on people in Nigeria or lie to them just because you have chance to be in America

8. America is land of opportunity for hustler and people who know what they are doing. Your destiny is in your hand, you can make it big time or smoke away your life.
9. Kudos to all legit immigrant in America, you can make as far as you can imagine !!!

Your post is for the brainwashed. There are more people suffering in America than Nigeria. America is a country filled with homeless and hopeless people. The net worth of Americans is tied to the value of their home they wont be able to afford till death. College educated Americans at the age of 35yrs are still living with their parents while the females sell their bodies to sugar daddies in europe in order to come up with the monthly $200 student loan debt. America infratructure is in a decaying state and illiteracy is rampant with very high suicide rate. The US. death rate is higher than that of Nigeria in figures, i can go on and on and on. America indeed is one overhyped shithole

I don't have intention of quoting you or get into argument. But i need to let you know that majority of Naija in America are doing well. I mean they are living well compare to Naija state of living.

You can only go broke in America if you are lazy! Some Naija(and other immigrant from around the world) are even doing better that American citizen.
It can only be difficult in the first few months or years in America depending on your situation. But the risk of relocating from Niaja to America worth it X million
