He wasn't tracking Azpilicueta initially, it was when Azpilicueta kept advancing towards our area that he decided to track him.

The whole defensive set up was bad. Smalling being the centre of three man defence should never have gone out of position. If he stayed, there was no way an incoming area ball would beat him. He would even have directed the rest players to take positions. But he joined four others on the right, yet Chelsea still managed to pass us out of the that position into the middle.

It was a similar thing when Jones picked a yellow. Hazard escaped three markers before Jones hacked him down. Why crowding one player or the ball?

Zonal marking should have solved it. Three men at the back should have stayed tight leaving the rest to roam.

Apart from this Mourinho has to rejig his plan and strategy about counter attacking. It's a thing in progress but the Portuguese needs to perfect that tactic. I've seen us countless times, (yesterday and in the past), give the ball directly to the opponent in the name of initiating a quick counter attack.

I don't know how he's going to do it but he has to get it right.

Yes, the the defensive setup wasn't up to standard. No doubt about that. We were carved open time after time in the first half. You can't ask slow players to track fast players, it's calamitous. But our players also need to step up their games. They need to be more aware and more coordinated. They can only become better when they play together continuously.

Sometimes coaches get their tactics wrong. It happened to us yesterday. Mourinho always want to 'nullify' Hazard.

I didn’t watch first half yesterday, but I saw the highlight. In the second half there was so much policing of Chelsea players around the field such that we lost shape at the back. Jones got his yellow card marking Hazard high up the field. Bailly also went high up many times to tackle. Smalling too went high but did some neat jobs going out of position, although in two occasions from the highlights, Jones and Bailly covered for him.

We have to stop thinking Chelsea have superior players than us. With this match we have given them psychological advantage over us after we beat them last season.

The last minutes of the match revealed we could have played better. But I have a feeling Mourinho told himself that if we must lose to Chelsea, the scoreline must not be high. Last season when we lost heavily to Chelsea, we played some good football.

The truth is Mata is not as strong as those boys and doesn't have half their speed. Mata has also been in poor form.

If Mata is in form, we could play him and Blind to help Mkhitaryan with passing. Our technical play was good in the start of the season when Mata, Blind, Pogba and Mkhitaryan were on the field together. Although Blind left a hole behind him most times.
