With effect from January, 2018 Nurses outside the EU region now have other option aside IELTS to meet the Ireland Board of Nursing English Proficiency requirement as the regulatory board begins accepting Occupational English Test in place of IELTS.

In it's monthly bulletin, NMBI wrote

OET now accepted by NMBI

From 1 January 2018 we will accept Occupational English Test (OET), alongside the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Further information will be available on our website in due course.

At present , the Irish Nursing Board only accepts IELTS Academic and IELTS Academic for UKVI as evidence of English language competency for overseas nurses trained outside EU or EEA countries with the following minimum scores:
Listening – 6.5
Reading – 6.5
Writing – 7.0
Speaking – 7.0
Overall – 7.0

Recall that the UK NMC yesterday begins accepting OET as Alternative to IELTS. OET is professionally focused than IELTS and many people belief this makes it easier to pass.

Cbt costs about £140. I am not sure about Naira equivalent as the rate changes everyday.

No, they don't send you resource material for Cbt just read random things online but focus on UK guidelines.

As per hospita, any NHS trust is good for a start as they are the ones that have the right training package for OSCE

I have a question my friend in Nigeria will want anyone will useful info to clarify regarding registering for NCLEX.

She studied basic midwifery for 3 years in Nigeria and got registered and licensed midwife.

Thereafter she studied post basic nursing for 18 months and got registered and licensed nurse, all from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

The area am asking is if state nursing councils in US will allow her register for nclex having done general nursing for just 18months and not the regular 3 years.

Are they insisting that only RN who did 3 yrs nursing can apply for registration?

Unpredictable. You have 3 months standard waiting/submission time. Your report can be ready a month after that 3 month, making four months. Some have had it delayed for longer. But my experience with New York, it's 6 months after your documents are complete (to get report across to board) after your 3 months with cgfns. A colleague used New mexico BON, instead of Cgfns, he used ERES and got report submitted within 6weeks. Everything took only 2 months.

Thank you for the encouragement. If we share what we know, we can never tell how far it helps others to make decision.
A lot of colleagues here have passed Nclex... I wish people can share their experiences to encourage others. Some have relocated successfully too.
Nigeria Nurses are passing enmasse at one or two sittings maximum. This is good for us.

Goch4sweet midwifery is not registrable in the US (for foreign trained Nurses). In fact , no specialized area is recognized, to the extent some Bsn holders have had transcript issues, despite been a standard degree program. 18 months in Nursing education is unlikely to meet up with the standard required, if evaluated. But instead of self-defeat, if your friend doesn't mind the cost of the evaluation process, let her give it a try (for the sake of it). She might learn what she needs to do to meet up. My opinion.

For CGFNS evaluation, all the information required are found on their website. The fee is $350 for CES report. I would advice you should concentrate on studying for the IELTS exam first as some recruitment agency like Avant can offer to bear the cost of your CGFNS evaluation on your behalf.
Some of my friends with Avant that didn't have the CES report before contacting Avant were processed at the expense of Avant.

O'grady peyton as I learnt can also bear the cost of your CGFNS evaluation as soon as you have your IELTS. To be frank with you, passing the IELTS exam is the major stumbling block here. Just pass the exam and see how recruitment agencies will in touch with you. But should you decide to do it yourself as my wife did, after creating an account on CGFNS portal and making a payment, a CGFNS ID number will be assigned to you and forms that you will send to your nursing school/s you attended together with the one to be sent to nursing & midwifery council in Abuja will be generated.

I can't really recall how much my wife paid at the nursing council then but ensure you go there with at least 15 to 20k to include postage. While it depends on the nursing school attended, my wife's school charged less than 10k for transcript and she paid 12k then for postage (i.e DHL or FEDEX).It didn't stop there, as CGFNS will still contact the school to verify the authenticity of the transcript sent to them and you still have to pay for the postage to send it back. I think in my wife's case, she paid for postage 3 times for each nursing school attended. In a nutshell, I would advice you set aside dbetween 100 to 150k to accomplish this.

It is an accelerated program as they have it in the U.S. too. If nursing council licensed you as an RN then you've got nothing to fear. Write to CGFNS or ERES evaluate your certification. They may even need to evaluate the courses you took in midwifery to make the hours spent.

sorry I can't really say which one is better as I believe they are unique differently. For ex. OGP pays for your Visa Screen while Avant doesn't except when they are on promo. I also believe there might be other incentives from Avant that OGP lacks.

One thing is sure for OGP, their speed. My wife applied to OGP March 01, 2017, sat and passed her nclex in the US in October and her I-140 was also filed in October. It must not be Avant or OGP, nurses should try to explore other agencies as well.
