I want to share my recipe for Abacha without potash.

First soak the abacha in hot water for some minutes until its soft but not soggy, then drain with a seive.

I put palm oil in a frying pan, good palm oil oh not those horrible concoctions they sell on the streets.

Anyway so put palm oil in frying pan, put knorr and a lil salt in the oil, and fry them together, when its a bit hot, then add the abacha and turn for less than a minute.

I don't put too much oil cuz I like dry Abacha, so by the time I'm done frying, its dry and yellow.

Then I turn off the fire and start mixing all the other ingredients, crayfish, dry fish, tiny garden eggs, chopped garden eggs, onions, garden egg leafs, cabbage, pomo

Abacha is ready to eat.
If you like the Abacha wet, then add more oil than i do at the beginning and add a bit of the pomo stock too at the end

The potash is usually in the thicken palm oil, it is the reagent for that yellowish thicken soup been added to the final dish.

If you prepare it by your self, no cause for alarm, as am sure your method is not the generic Igbo method. Relax

We all February teamies are doing great im certain..2nd trimester is much easier than the first..

As per second trimester you can say that again, I feel so healthy and if not for the bump I don't feel pregnant at times in all God has been good.

Generic Igbo method is it not the one that you pound pepper, crayfish and ogiri/okpei in a big mortar that'll contain the Abacha. Then pour red oil inside it, use the pestle and turn it, then add already dissolved potash called akanwu in Igbo inside it and continue turning till it's kinda foamy. Sieve the water from the already soaked Abacha, pour inside the mortar, add onions/knorr/ugba/salt/garden egg leaf, wash your hands thoroughly and mix it together. Then serve with either fried fish/smoked fish/ponmo e.t.c

So sad, what kind of quack doctor would allow her go through VD with a breech baby, that's how native doctors used to birth babies in the olden days, maybe he's a native doctor, they should check his certificate. Its not about general hospital sha, its about finding a good hospital with good doctors, not just one doctor.
