He was practically begged not to go to the front. But being Nzeogwu he couldn't miss where the action was

Nzeogwu didn't see eye to eye with Ojukwu

He was adamantly opposed to secession

Ojukwu didn't know what to do with him.
He was too popular among Biafrans

Nzeogwu even wrote his friend, Obasanjo, that he was to be put back in prison but Ojukwu was scared because he was too popular with Biafrans

You have to admit Ojukwu was one wise person, he knew what was in Nzeogwu's mind: coup

Well Nzeogwu could not make coup without troops. So he was stuck

But Nzeogwu couldn't stay idle either. So he was reduced to conducting impulsive raids, sometimes going behind enemy lines

So Nzeogwu would conscript some soldiers and go on raids, straight to the war front.

Nzeogwu became quite close to Ojukwu's half brother, Tom Biggar

So Tom Biggar, Ojukwu's younger half-brother, and Nzeogwu used to go on raids together

It was while on one these raids, a reconnaissance mission into the Nsuka sector, that Nzeogwu and Tom Biggars armoured truck got stuck and was surrounded by federal troops.

For the life of me I don't understand why Nnzogwu.had to be with Tom Biggar of all people. What a moral blow their deaths must have been.

From what I read it really was. Most Biafrans believed Nzeogwu could single-handedly win the war. People can be so gullible.

Beyond gullible. Like believing that an old woman did medicine for Zik and afterwards asked Zik to kill her or that Nzeogwu turned into a fly to get Ahmadu Bello. Things we believe!!!
