I would prefer the latter group we will progress in a tougher group. The psychology of playing in a tough group and tough teams willl bring out the best in the SE.
its better for us .we do well against tough opposition. we didnt in 2002 sha but in 2010 when we didnt have a tough group we also failed to progress

and elderson will offer more offensively?

you talking as if we have never watch elderson play...you and I know his potentials and what he can offer...
aina for now should deputise idowu...for that LB role until deji matures...but still let deji be invited to come train with the super eagles....if possible cap tie him against sychelles then pass him over to the under 20 coach....

and idowu should be cap tied in the world cup proper....hopefully a better outing will fetch him a better club with reasonable national laws...unlike the Russia nasty rules...

It seems you don't understand my point. The formation we played against Argentina is meant a LWB and not the usual LB in a 4-3-3 formation. That was why Aina struggled to cope holistically in that new role. I am not say he is a bad player going forward but in that particular game, he did nothing offensively.

Now, let us go away from the LWB and back 3 defence to the usual 4 back defence known to us. I still feel I need to see him again in that role before drawing conclusion but before then Elderson or Brian have my nod.

However, I am convinced he is a better player at RB and I would like him to be played there first to compare his performance on both sides.

After finally watching the game,I gotta say, this 3-5-2 formation shouldn't he our main formation at the WC.. We can try it when we play attacking minded teams like Germany, Spain and France,so we can park the bus and hit with our newfound "sexy counter attack' grin grin

I don't support those saying VicMo should be used as a wingback!! he is one of our best player and we can't let him waste in that role...

for a three man defence u would suggest thus lineup (3-4-3)

GK(anybody wey make am grin)

LCB- Awazeim
CB- Balogun
RCB- Ekong

LWB- Idowu
MF- Ndidi
MF- Mikel
RWF- Ebuehi

AMF- Moses
CF- Iheanacho
AMf- Iwobi

I'm adding Idowu and Ebuehi, cus at the moment,Shehu and Aina aren't used to the Wingback role..

Good one.

I think Awaziem had a bad first half and he gives away the ball easily just like Ekong.

Here's our squad for the last world cup...

How times fly grin .. About half of these players have been forgotten completely.. grin.

Where's Uchebo self? grin

Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide, Chigozie Agbim

Defenders : Joseph Yobo, Elderson Echiejile, Juwon Oshaniwa, Godfrey Oboabona, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Kenneth Omeruo, Efe Ambrose, Kunle Odunlami

Midfielders : John Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Ramon Azeez, Michael Uchebo, Reuben Gabriel

Strikers : Osaze Odemwingie, Ahmed Musa, Shola Ameobi, Emmanuel Emenike, Babatunde Michael, Victor Moses, Uche Nwofor

Forgiveness, your beloved Ramon Azeez might make the list again if he believe grin grin

He deserved to make the WC then because he played regularly in la liga for 2 years in a role prior to the WC.

It is still a mystery he was ignored for two years before he was called. Unfortunately, Keshi deployed him in an unfamiliar role.

Abeg let him stay at Anderlecht for now...
There's no guarantee that Everton will call him back and hand him an automatic starting shirt..
What if he starts struggling to adapt to the league.. a lot of players struggle in their first season in EPL....

What Henry needs with the super eagles is game time... We saw a glimpse of what he can offer against Algeria.. Let Rohr give him more playing time .

But to be honest, I think Rohr will stick to a large chunk of the players he has been calling up since he took over...
That guy is good. He's a terrorist attacker because of his quick feet, agility, pace and confidence. Hes an upgrade on Musa andI'd like him to replace him. I think we're going to need him in the WC.

DEFENDERS 8
Balogun- Ekong- Awaziem- Ebuehi- Shehu- Aina- Idowu- Omeruo

MIDFIELDERS 5
Mikel-Ndidi- Onazi- Ogu- Etebo

FORWARDS
VMoses- SMoses- Iwobi- Iheanacho- Ighalo- Onyekuru- (?Kayode, Dressers, Success?)

It's becoming a feature of our game. Even during the qualifiers, we were taking defences apart with our quick passing. To do it against Argentina is a big plus. I especially liked the way Musa turned and sent that pass to Iwobi with his left leg. Iwobi's goal was beautiful but Musa's delivery was sublime. We need to perfect this passing game. And then add shooting from outside the box.
Ogu is the main suspect lol

Truth is this 3-5-2 formation seems ideal but knocks out some of wing players ala simon moses, onyekuru and co for Victor moses to feature.
I tried doing some tweaks to accommodate moses not featuring in a wingback role.
I choose Ebuehi and Idowu based on current display while Echijele comes in due to his defending and advantage as a left footed player.

Netherlands Yet To Give Up On Luring Eagles Latest ‘Oyibo’ Sensation Ebuehi

Dutch journalist Jermain Leitbig says the Netherlands are still hopeful of convincing Super Eagles right full back Tyronne Ebuehi to play for their senior national team.
Born in the Netherlands to Nigerian parents, the ADO Den Haag full back impressed a lot of Nigerians when he came on as a substitute for the Super Eagles in their 4-2 win over Argentina on Tuesday.
Despite playing for Nigeria in that game, he is still eligible to represent Holland and Jermain Leitbig says he will definitely be considered as the Dutch begin a process of rebuilding following failure to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.
” I hope you know he only played in a friendly game for Nigeria, and not a competitive game hence he can still play for the Netherlands. He plays in a position where the Dutch are short of options, so he could be an option”, Leitbig told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Unless he plays for Nigeria next year, the Netherlands are still in with a chance to convince him, afterall it wasn’t like they didn’t try to stop him when he made the move to switch to Nigeria.

” Let’s wait but for now Nigeria hold the advantage of having him but no doubt Holland will be monitoring his performance for ADO Den Haag. The battle for his future is far from over”.

You see why I am angry with Rohr, huh? With just a dead rubber game the man refused to cap Ebuehi once and for all.

If Rohr wanna get the best out of the players at the WC he should play them at their natural roles... Shehu should play RB not RWB...
He should just play them in their natural roles jeje. I think Aina and Shehu would have taught him not to play players in roles they are not suited for while Brian and Ebuehi would have taught him to play the players in their natural roles

Tactics must match personnel. If we perfect this strategy I believe we would adopt it depending on the opposition we meet.
Sir Icon4s, Are we seeing the end of 'never change the winning team' maxim?

Abajo! Nobody thought of it from that angle ooo. See wahala. Thank God Holland are not going for the World Cup. They would have snapped him up. I think he would stick with us cos with his showing against Argentina and the possibility of us putting 3-5-2 formation in out toolbag he can be a good addition to the team.

I hope we get more grade A friendlies. I'm no too rattled about teams in pot B and C beasuse so many of those teams a overrated. Teams like Iran, Iceland, Slovakia, Romania, Switzerland, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria, Peru, Australia and several others. Those teams rely on tactical play and teamwork because they don't posses much talented players. Most of their players are avarege and we have talented players more than they do.
So if Rohr can secure at aboutc 3 effective tactics and and formations and diccipline his players, we'll brush them aside.
I once suggested 3 European teams and 2 South American teams prior to the start. I believe we're on track
