Goodevening wonderful Mamas in the house! I have been in the peeping mood since May. But the day i decides to come out of my hiding place on August 29, i had a miscarriage at 13weeks. But to God be the Glory, i'm back again. Please! I would like you all to help me out on this, i am 6weeks & 5days gone but been having cramping for a while now. Is it normal?

Thank u so much ma'am, For a well detailed answer.

1) I thought normal procedure is 48 hours with normal delivery in order to monitor both mother and especially baby and to conduct necessary test on baby before been discharged (that was what d private hospital i put to bed did).

2) Please how much is scan and other tests, and does NHIS cover scan and other test.

I also love Garki because they are well detailed and well staffed, I usually use their pediatricians for daughter and also immunization.

I will register next week hopefully and share my ANC experience.

Hi moms; I need advice. I want to buy a baby carrier. However the size limit is 11kg. My bobo is 6.1 kg @10weeks+. Not sure of the financial sense in purchasing one cos he might outgrow it soon? But we have some travel ahead of us and I would need to carry him around. @ airports and different waka when we reach our destination. He'd getting quite heavy for me to just be logging around. My arms tire fast.What dyu suggest biko? Should I just close eye and buy? Or would he have passed 11kg even by 6months @ this rate?

You are welcome.
I have no idea about holding hours after delivery, it's an experienced I witnessed and asked the Doctors why, and was told the 6hours monitor thing... can't say it's their standard, but my SIL was discharged in their sister hospital in 12hours.

I don't remember if paid for initial tests on registration, but all scans are paid for on self paid. It is 4200 per scan.
I guess NHIS covers all payments.

It[i][/i] depends on your body. Do your sit bath and keep drinking hot water and other hot fluids to help flush the blood out.

Mine is red in colour cuz am drinking hot fluids. Though too much stress can make it bright red like menses. Limit your stress.

3) Is there any quick remedy to flatten the stomach.

No quick remedy but keep persistent. Press your stomach with hot water, by tieing your stomach with a wrapper, use of post partum belt.

4) I didn't have swollen legs while I was pregnant but now the leg is swollen. What should I do

I would say go and see your doctor.

My Birth Story. Part 1.

Immensely grateful to God Almighty for granting even me, this privilege, I am most unworthy.

Got married last year and ttced for about 3 months (if you call it so), because I previously thought once you're married, pregnancy is sure. I know better now.

Early into the pregnancy, I was having cramps. Someone on this thread once had a miscarriage after cramping, so I didn't want to take it for granted.
Went to the hospital and doc did vaginal swab and urine test and treated me for candida and UTI.

Around 12 weeks, cramping started again and dh and I went to another hospital. Did scanning and they said there were 2 fibroids militating against the pregnancy. Said he could only prescribe tramadol asides PCM, but that it was risky sha.
I decided I couldn't take the risk and would rather bear the pains.

It wasn't funny, but gradually the pains stopped.
At 20 weeks, I went for another scan in a different place, and the sonographer said there was no fibroids. You needed to see my joy.

Gradually we kept on. All the scans we did and LO refused to show us gender. Around 30 weeks, we decided we would travel home since my mum is a nurse. Around 38 weeks, we took off for my hometown. Hubby's leave was meant to start at 39 weeks, then he would join me fully. So he just took me to mumsy and returned to work the next day.

Mumsy's hospital was on strike, so we went to a private hospital belonging to a doctor from her general hospital.
He was the one who delivered me years ago, and his medical practice had gone way back.
He scanned and tested me and said
1. Baby was overdue
2. Amniotic fluid was decreasing
3. Baby was big
4. Fetal heartbeat was at the peak of normal
5. There were fibroids, and not just one or two
6. My PCV was quite low at 30%


My mum is a staunch believer in the Hebrew women birth, so she got offended when I asked her twice how much does cs cost. She was like, why am I asking?
So I kept quiet. My dad returned home in the evening and asked how our hospital runs went. I told him doctor said baby was big and already overdue.

Dad simply said, then go and bring your baby out na. Mumsy was shocked, like, is that what your saying? That was how I had a partner and my voice became stronger. I asked her if having a cs was a sin. She said, no but... I said then no buts.
She sha agreed to go discuss it with the doctor.

Very early the next day, she had already booked a date in her mind for the cs. She went to see doctor and he said, the reason why he didn't say anything the previous day was cause he wouldn't know my reaction. He said having a cs was best for me.

Immediately, they called dh and related things to him and he began to prepare to come immediately.
We decided to use a few days to boost my PCV from 30% before the cs. We were booked against Tuesday, my 39th week.

Hubby was back by Sunday, and Monday evening, we went to the Hospital.
My blood pressure that was normal all through my pregnancy had suddenly shot up. They checked my PCV and said it had only increased by 3%
Asked us to go get donors. Luckily for me, mum, dad and dh all had matching blood groups, so they were screened one after the other. Dad's was not enough to donate, mum's and dh's were better.
That night, we all slept at the hospital, excluding dad. My younger brother joined us to sleep over.

Very early the next morning, they came to collect the blood. Two pints were collected from mum and dh. I took my bath, a nurse came to shave me and I was taken to the theatre. Mum was really nervous, and kept praying, and the doctor told her not to come to the theatre with us.

Na lie o, she said she wanted to pray with me and that was how she entered and stayed.
Before the main surgeon got in, I was being prepared by two others, but I was not comfortable with them.
I kept asking if the main surgeon wasn't coming. Thank God they didn't code that I was trying to say I'm not comfortable with them.
