Fabio Lanipekun is a former sports journalist and commentator with the NTA. He presented sports programmes and ran commentary on football matches in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. He rose to become the head of NTA Sports.

Here he is (along with Charles Ojugbana) commentating on the famous Miracle of Damman. This was a quarter final match at the 1989 Under 20 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. The match took place on February 25th, 1989. The Soviet Union led Nigeria by four goals to nil with just thirty minutes left, but Nigeria equalised and won the match on penalties.

Daniel Igali was the captain of the Nigerian wrestling team to the 1994 Commonwealth Games (Nigeria's most succesful Commonwealth Games). He defected to Canada after the games and won gold for Canada at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. He came back to Nigeria to coach wrestlers from Bayelsa. He later became the technical director and then president of the wrestling association.


Akwa Ibom State hosted Super Eagles matches in 2017, while Lagos State has hosted the FA Cup final in the past 7 years. MFM of Lagos also came second in the league.

truth be told, tho I feel d winners were deserving of the awards but the awards were channeled to some particular form of sports which will make other sportsmen in other field feel inferior or discouraged.
