Namecheap is the best and cheapest I can recommend. I have 3 sites with them and about 6 with Hostgator.

In terms of uptime and customer support, Namecheap wins.

The truth is it depends on your requirements. If you host on shared hosting what should have been on VPS or even dedicated server, it will look as if the hosting is bad.

I host with whogohost. Recently I exhausted my bandwith and couldn't log in. So I told them about it. A technical staff told me to erase some files that looked like myphp something something... I had backed up some time ago. But after the deletion, I couldn't log in again. And couldn't find my backup files. I need help.

Don't you know most reviews you see online were written by shills? It's expectable because Hostgator pays between $50 and $125 per sale in affiliate commissions. That's more than enough to tempt anyone to go about painting a good picture of them.

On the flip side, Namecheap pays crumbs in affiliate commissions, and that's why you won't find so many paid agents promoting them online.

I use both, so I can tell which is better from personal experience. I'm not saying Hostgator is bad. Just that as of now, Namecheap is better.

To me, Namecheap is the best out there. Their customer support and uptime is awesome. A customer representative of theirs had once stayed online with me for over 2 hours when I had issue setting up a scripting page on one of my websites. When she realised I wasn't doing the set up the proper way, she asked if she should take over and help sort it out, which I gladly obliged.

Aside from this, they won't cook up stories for you when the problem is from their end. So for me, choose Namecheap. And when going for their plans, choose either their Ultimate Hosting Plan or VPS. Those two give you more value, others are not bad too. It all depend on how financially buoyant you are.

The worst experience I had was with Nigerian hosts. I swore never to have anything to do with them.
My best option is 1and1.
