5 STORIES FOR NOV. 21, 2017

1. Golden Eaglets (2015 Class) forward, Orji Okonkwo pulled Bologna level with a header in the 74th minute to help them seal an away win at Verona. Final Scores: 2-3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0UPLznP858&sns=tw

2. OGN reports that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr is set to hand Joel Obi a recall to the Super Eagles for March friendlies.
3. Speculations that Kevin Akpoguma has already turned down Nigeria is premature. The former German U21 captain revealed his connection with Nigeria in an interview conducted by FIFA back in 2015. The player attributes his athleticism and his social nature to his Nigerian heritage, and has even travelled twice to Nigeria as his grandparents reside in Benin City. His decision will be made known soon as Rohr is expected to put a call to the 22 year old defender soon. Akpoguma can play all positions in the defense-line.
4. Emem Eduok was adjudged the MOTM with a rating of 8.24, courtesy of statistical football website, WhoScored. Emem got rave reviews after scoring Kasimpasa's winning goal away to Karabukspor. The one-cap Super Eagles forward had 3 shots on target out of an attempted four. He made 2 successful tackles and won an aerial duel. He completed 23 passes out of 29 attempted, and had a total of 57 touches for the over 90 minutes he spent on the pitch. Compatriot, Kenneth Omeruo had a WhoScored rating of 7.79 for keeping the opponent quiet all encounter.
5. If you don't already know, former Hansa Rostock forward, Victor Agali, has been appointed by Gernot Rohr as an official scout.

It is only in Nigeria you overlook better players in better positions for mediocre players in lowly rated leagues.

It still baffles me that Dele Aiyenugba who is the only regular goalkeeper in Europe has been overlooked for Ezenwa and co. Smh

Nepotism of the highest order is at play in this department.

Even a second or 3rd choice goalkeeper in the Portuguese league has been overlooked for long.

Dele Alampasu has never been given the chance to prove himself. Despite been invited for more than 5 friendlies, the coach only gave him 25 minutes in just 1 game and that's all but Uzoho was invited today and given the chance today.

Alloy Agu wedo.

Rohr must be from Uzoho's village. Nepotism

We can't call everybody, maybe an Aluko though, but Ademola's position is a competitive one in the SE at the moment. He can only be called if he is clearly better than what we have already. I agree we need Aluko though cos we need more creative midfielders.

I hate to go down this road but I have to: Amaju Pinnick is from Delta State, the first vice president of the NFF S. Akinwummi as well the NFF media officer Toyin Ibitoye are yoruba. The second vice president is Shehu Dikko from the North. Rohr has three Nigerian Coaches Salisu Yusuf from the North, Amapakabo is an okrika man, Alloy Agu is Igbo.

So if a Yoruba man is crying that yoruba players are not given a chance(and it's so clear now to me that that is what it is) does he know better than S. Akinwummi and Toyin Ibitoye who are in a position to influence things?

We have the strange case of Uche Agbo who has been invited for almost a year now without even a single game time. Nobody talks about him. Even the press is silent about him. Yet it's like the guy is a patient man waiting for his opportunity.

Rohr doesn't invite Kayode, wahala. He invites him even more wahala.

It makes me sad when accusations of tribalism begins to be made against this team.

If the teams likes let it be populated by gworo chewing abokis. Just play good football and win games. To hell with whatever tribe.

Rohr must be from Uzoho's village. Nepotism
It's a shame. Real shame. Uzoho was called because of how his debut for Deportivo brought him into the limelight. Alampasu has not had such debut. It's only reasonable that Rohr should call Uzoho since we are seriously in need of a good gk.
And the Alampasu himself has said he would be patient for his time to come.

I detest it when people are never satisfied and look for reasons to complain needlessly.

Forgiveness I have defended you in times past against those who label you a tribalist. I don't make judgments hastily but it's obvious you like reading things through ethnic prism. You disguise it so well but I see that this is what it is. How come your facts always slant in the direction of ethnicity?
Not even Keshi could be accused of tribalism how much less Rohr? I don't know much but from what I have seen I think Rohr is concerned about performance more than any other thing.

Invitations of Kayode, Onyekuru and Agbo are justifiable because they distinguished themselves among their peers. Though that is not the case with Agbo but he was once a la liga regular and a consistent player in Belgium league.

The thing is people are often afraid to call a spade what it is.

His SOLE mission has been clear right from his first post on here.

It's so terrible, this thing. Our society is one that is riven with ethnic bigotry and division. Football and sports generally is the only save haven.
I like watching football in viewing centers. Last week when we played Argentina, Hausa, Igbo, yoruba, Igede, Ijaw, Igbira, Nupe, Bassa etc all United to support the team. It's our team. It lifts us beyond tribal sentiments and we love them because the team embodies our highest ideal as a nation. Interestingly, after we defeated Argentina Zambians, Cameroonians, Ethiopians were congratulating Nigeria for doing Africa proud. And here we have forgiveness fighting for tribal representation.

People are thinking at higher levels, from deep historical perspectives on our team. I have not read anybody making this kind of tribal calls so consistently as forgiveness in my estimation seems to do. This thing is bigger than Nigeria not to talk of your tribe.

Kai 70s oh boy i no fit o but feel say something about 80s.

1.Segun Odegbami a great winger with skills and goals,a very pacy player who can be compared with CRonaldo in style of play.A great player in then 80s,very popular and showboy of Nigeria football, instrumental to Nigeria victory in 1980 afcon. He score 23 goals for Nigeria and remain the third highest goal scorer in Nigeria history but on goal ratio he is second to Yekini.Big Seg retired unceremoniously when the then Oyo state governor Col.Oladayo Popoola disbanded shooting star for losing to Zamalek in champions cup in 1882.

2.Austin Okocha remain a great player that came from nowhere and lightened Nigeria football after we believe that we w not see another talented player like Etim again. He was good and solid to watch. He was member of 94 victorious afcon and US 94 squad, still surprising that Okocha failed to win Africa footballer of the year despite his talent. He moved to PSG with a record deal of $16m.He scored a memorable goal for Frankfurt against Karlsruhe with Oliver Khan in goal.

3.Henry Nwosh a classical midfielder who made 1980 afcon as a teenager and played for the team till 1990He was member of Eagles in the 80s,participated at afcon 80,84,88.A very good midfielder with great left foot. He had most of his career with ACB of Lagos but moved to Gabon later to play professional football.

4 Etim Esin remain a mysterious player cos indiscipline ruined his career. Etim maradona was a solid and complete player but did not attained what could have be a glorious career.Prior to Chile 87 Etim was shot by armed robber after sneeked out of camp in the night in his brand new Peugeot 505.Despite this Nigeria government made sure he was treated and made the squad to Chile. He later moved to Lierse fc in Belgium but his career was short live after accused of rape.Etim ran away from Belgium to escape jail.

Wow wow wow, what a sweet read. Na only Okocha we follow from him debut till him retire, we indomie generation. gringringrin

We've never been lacking when it comes toa skilful players who are all for the entertainment and goals as well.

How I wish I could get tapes showing those earlier matches.

I hope you now know Ademola Lookman's achievement didn't go unnoticed for two seasons in a stretch.

Abi, you sabi pass those that singled him out? grin

I am here to reveal hidden facts to the ignoramus. grin
What kind of misplaced talk is all of this? The same Ademola who turned down overtures from the NFF? What has eaten into you so?

Na d pressure make am succumb to public opinion. Shame and fear no gree am play Nwakali because d boy 4 disgrace and tarnish his image with perhaps poor performance

You de make me laugh with your comments o. Which public pressure?? How many Ex-internationals, journalists, TV presenters, pundits, bloggers were crying as much as you were?

Or you think Rorh comes here to read your comments? Or which other platform has a fellowship of the eagles as large as this?

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders....

He is good but who is he gonna displace?

Each time I read this line I feel a bit of disappointment. Prior to the match against Argentina, that line kinda worked perfectly. Then came the 3-5-2 formation and then suddenly the regulars can actually be benched. Wow! I never thought I would see the day. This is why we should not get ahead of ourselves here. There can only be one captain of a ship.and so there can only be one technical adviser/coach for the super eagles. All our speculations on what our starting 11 should always look like is getting flawed day by day. We should leave that to Gernot Rohr. He is the leader of the team and he is the one with direction we are heading as a team. He alone has the road map to our destination. Wresting leadership from his hands is tantamount to chaos and the moment a leader cedes destination over to his followers, there is bound to be catastrophe.

Rohr knows the people he wants in his team and what he wants to achieve. The best we can do is support him. If Rohr decides to invite one backwater league player to the National team, it is because he sees something in the player which isnt obvious to us. This talk of who is he gonna bench should stop. Bottomline is any player can be started and any player can be benched. This is what gives rise to quality performance. So long as the coach does the right thing at all times and he gets the right results, then we should relax.

I am not saying that Rohr gets it right all the time but my argument is any player can be started and any player can be benched. Period!

Forgiveness though, your matter tire me.
Lopside judgment undecided

Rohr called Nwakali but he failed to feature on matchday= he lacks quality

Rohr called kayode but he failed also just like Nwakali = Rohr is corrupt! He don't want to give him chance.

What a wonderful conclusion.
