Hello fam.,

my school refused to send an email copy of my i20, but I persuaded them to send me the SEVIS number which they did. My questions are:

1- can I fill ds 160 and book an interview date without my i20 hard copy?
2- I do I fill request for an expedited appointment at the Abuja consulate office.?

Note- my i20 should be in Nigeria in the next 4-5 business days. Thanks for your contribution.

1) Start filling out a ds160 but do not submit it. You need the ds160 number to book your visa interview date.

2) Book a date that you see. Then you can request an emergency date to get an earlier date (in December).

All these talks about being finicky is not the point. The point is quite simple, If blue shirt was completely sold out, the onus falls on the buyer to contact the person who sent him. This wont take more than 1min to call. Because I am getting GRE at a discount doesn't mean you should treat me like I am begging or a slave. His timing for registering is his personal problem not Mafit, if I say register me for a date and the date is not available, the right thing to do for a professional organization is to contact me and tell me. its obvious its not their first time, someone up there said they did the same thing to him, says alot about the way they conduct business. We all send people to get stuffs for us on a daily basis and most times they call back to say I didn't get so so so and so, should I buy this instead etc. That is how it works, that is the right thing to do. Not to derail this thread, I wont comment on this again.

You're making your own argument and changing the terms of your own argument. I was unequivocal in not excusing their unprofessionalism - which makes your point moot if not unnecessary.

There are dire situations where a decision must be made. If I wait to call my boss before making that decision he would score me low for showing zero initiative. When someone wants to make an argument you should present an alternate view to balance it. This is why many get below 4 in the analytical writing of their GRE.

If 50,000 people have been registered by the company, and 5 people disagree with their service, guess what? The 5 people's opinion will trump the remaining 49,995. That is the argument you are making without noticing. In the real world of logical-thinking men the tail does not wag the dog.

In all of this, saying his timing is his personal problem will only impress unprepared people like the OP who would not know what proactiveness is even if it combed their hairs. I would criticise the company for their unprofessionalism and still pan the OP for his own role in the whole debacle.

You can pick his side and rest your case. I like where I am standing; on a balanced platform.

If you agree that grace is hardwork and grace is from God, what then is the argument. All am saying is that it take more than just thinking its by your effort alone. cos your hard work alone will only lead to frustration.

We both agree on one thing though. You can't rule in Nigeria. We know there is a problem somewhere and we need a change of mind set not on issues on innovation and creativity because we have that in abbundant but on leadership and those who are being led.

At no point have I said life is by hard work alone. If you note my post which you quoted, I made mention of the fact that Americans also depend on grace too. In fact these foreign countries exported Christianity to us. The problem isn’t grace at all, it is that Nigerians have decided to substitute hard work and doing the right thing with a warped form of “grace”. We bribe, cheat, manipulate, then cry about grace when we want visas to the countries of those who chose the tough road of integrity and hard work. How many of us here can boldly raise their hands to say they don’t grease the palms of others just to get ahead of others by hook or crook?

Yes I unashamedly rely on grace to get through each day. But i also know that my access to healthcare facilities, good roads, safe airlines etc isn’t just based on Long prayers alone, but by the hard work and dedication of ordinary people like you and me.

Haba, when Walspring's offer was on I was directing everyone I knew to him. Now that ponpon has his thing going, never a day passes by without me recommending him or the company in question.

I feel bad for Nigerians who pay N75k+ for an exam that they could have paid N50k or less for that is why I do it. I have no horse in this race.

Thank you sir. But my school resumes by 16 January and the earliest date in Abuja consular office is 4th of January.. That's the problem am having right now.

Did u check if lagos has an earlier date?

Visa almost approved today but was delayed because of a silly mistake I made.
The visa officer asked me the date that I took GRE and I gave him a wrong month saying July/11/2017 as against June/11/2017.
I can't but laugh at myself for my stupidity and school is resuming January 10.

Kai, bring yout head make i knock you... You for kukuma say you wrote it middle of this year.

At this point I will have to submit and agree with you. Hard work alone won't get you there neither would prayer alone.
Thanks for the little lesson and hope to learn more.

How would you get admitted to University of Houston and go for Franklin University instead. Probably that’s what the VO sees too. My thought tho!
