FAAC postponed their meeting since last week, and up till today, no news about their reconvene . FAAC meeting for the month of November 2017 may take place next week Monday, we should be expecting our money from next week Wednesday/Thursday. Except if our governor should fall back to internal generated revenue, our payment then will come by Tuesday. https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/11/24/states-boycott-faac-meeting-query-revenue-figures/&grqid=Y7m40sbe&hl=en-NG Home Nigeria States Boycott FAAC Meeting, Query Revenue Figures November 24, 2017 The 36 states in Nigeria thursday boycotted the monthly Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting due to discrepancies in figures presented by the federal government. The Chairman, Forum of Finance Commissioners in Nigeria, Mr. Mahmoud Yunusa, said the forum came to the decision after consultation with their state governors. According to him, the governors have given the commissioners directive to postpone the meeting pending the reconciliation of all accounts. “The meeting has been postponed until we reconcile the figures in the accounts. “I sincerely apologise for keeping everyone, but this is the position of our principals through the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, even though the matter was discussed at length during NEC when all the governors were present. “So we should all take our leave and wait for the next date which will be announced later,” he said. Yunusa said the finance commissioners as well as the state Accountants-General would meet next week to decide when to reconvene the meeting. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) later approached the Chairman, who is also the Adamawa State Commissioner for Finance. He refused to expatiate on the nature of the discrepancies. However, another commissioner, on condition of anonymity said the discrepancies came from the figures presented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The latest development is coming four months after the NNPC completed the refund of N450 billion to the federation account, to be shared to federal, states and local councils. The NNPC had for 67 consecutive months, paid an additional N6.33 billion into the federation account to be shared to federal, states and local governments. The payment, which started in September 2011, was due to an audit, which showed that the NNPC had been under remitting revenue into the Federation Account |

the FAAC emergency meeting was slated for yesterday na, Nigeria’s financial crisis deepens as revenue allocation meeting fails to hold The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, management is scheduled to meet with the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC, on Monday to attempt to reconcile financial records. Discrepancies in revenue figures presented to the committee by the NNPC on remittances to the Federation Account had triggered a dispute, leading to the unexpected cancellation of the regular FAAC meeting for November, last Thursday. The monthly meeting usually held to consider and approve revenue allocation to the three tiers of government was abruptly adjourned indefinitely when members found that the details of revenues actually remitted to the Federation Account for sharing did not add up to what was earlier presented to the FAAC Secretariat. The FAAC, which has the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, as Chairman, also has the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, as member. Other members of the committee include the Accountants-General and Commissioners for Finance in the 36 states of the federation, along with representatives of government revenue-generating agencies, namely the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS; Nigeria Customs Service, NCS and the NNPC. Following the discovery of the discrepancies in the records, the Chairman, Forum of Finance Commissioners of FFC, Mahmoud Yunusa, said the meeting had to postponed till further notice following directives from their respective state governors. The FFC Chairman, who is also the Adamawa State Finance commissioner, said the FAAC would only reconvene after all the discrepancies have been reconciled and the revenue figures in the accounts sorted. Although Mr. Yunusa had hinted of an emergency technical meeting next week between the finance commissioners and the state accountants-general, to review the situation, PREMIUM TIMES learnt on Saturday that the enlarged FAAC meeting is scheduled to reconvene on Monday to attempt to thrash out the alleged discrepancies. |
