Anyway, good to see Osun State making moves. And like RockHard mentioned, this is basically an extension of an already established relationship. I can't wait to see this come to fruition.

I noticed the company is a cocoa company.

Osun seems to be SW state that's most serious about cocoa. I guess there is a comparative advantage. And with the way things are going, the state might even dethrone Ondo as the top cocoa producing state

Ondo is still the highest producer of the cash crop, but unfortunately the state isn't thinking of adding value to the crop before exporting it the way Osun is currently doing. Value addition increases the price of the chocolate end product, and even earns more fx than the raw Cocoa that are currently exported.

Even if Nigerians aren't big consumers of chocolate (though local demand is increasing), the Europeans, Americans and Asians (especially the Chinese) are, and are willing to pay far more for the processed Cocoa than the raw ones.

I feel like Osun is even making more effort in the production part sef than Ondo. Eerm...Are there any chocolate companies in Osun?

I heard there is one in Ondo state called SpagnVola. I haven't seen pictures of their factory online tho. You sabi am?

With all the so called foreign investments and exportation of Cocoa, Osun cannot survive without Federal allocation from Niger delta oil as confessed by Aregbesola himself. He cannot pay salaries, he borrows money to build common secondary schools.

Why do Yorubas enjoy deceiving themselves?

Yeah, I think SpagnVola are still operating at a lower level for now, hence their low key profile. However, I expect to see more chocolate factories springing up in both Ondo and Osun in the nearest future coz there's a lot of potential in the processing and marketing of chocolate.

According to http://www.worldstopexports.com/chocolate-exporters/ the following are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of chocolate during 2016. Please note that none of these counties grows Cocoa or have a single tree of the crop, yet they make more from exporting it after adding value to it than us. This is the direction our cocoa producing states ought to be following:

Germany: US$4.5 billion (17.1% of total chocolate exports)
Belgium: $2.9 billion (11%)
Netherlands: $1.8 billion (6.8%)
Italy: $1.7 billion (6.3%)
United States: $1.6 billion (6.1%)
Poland: $1.6 billion (5.9%)
Canada: $1.5 billion (5.6%)
France: $1.4 billion (5.4%)
United Kingdom: $878.8 million (3.3%)
Switzerland: $802.2 million (3%)
Mexico: $628.6 million (2.4%)
Russia: $476.7 million (1.8%)
Spain: $435.6 million (1.7%)
Austria: $413.6 million (1.6%)
Turkey: $403 million (1.5%)

The listed 15 countries shipped about four-fifths (79.4%) of all chocolate exports in 2016.

Among the above countries, the fastest-growing chocolate exporters since 2012 were: Canada (up 44%), Poland (up 41.2%), Netherlands (up 37.3%) and Spain (up 20.5%).

just that igbos expose what to bad in their environment to raise awareness and get it fixed doesn't mean they're foolish.

The only south west state that can be compared to abia is lagos...

Again, something needs to be done for the entire south west environment
Abia? The dirtiest city in the whole world!

The question is: how many states in Nigeria as at today can survive without federal allocation? Niger Delta states with huge monthly 13% derivation still find it difficult to pay salaries.
Osun is three times bigger than Bayelsa in terms of population, Bayelsa allocation is more than four times bigger than Osun allocation, yet their crisis in payments of salaries is worse than that of Osun. Akwa Ibom allocation is ten times bigger than that of Osun, yet Osun is faring well, making headlines above all these useless Niger Delta states that has more money than people with brain.

They must envy na. If they don't, how do we want to grow. The more they envy, they more we will grow more so that we can give them the reason to envy us more.

Typical flat head from Anambra, always crying and lamenting on social media. Shameless people bringing curse, and calamity to Chukwu Abiama. Must you animals compare your god forsaken erosion ravaged land to others, inferiority complex is making you all run mad. Its truly a big shame to be a flat head. Spits

While I applaud the move as a good one I don't think this is a stride yet.
The whole thing sounds too elaborate to me, How can a single Chinese firm process cocoa, salt, cassava starch and still handle power provision ?

The fact that you are ignorant per the project and the company's already established relationships and collaborations with the Osun state government is a reflection of your own ignorance and inability to even hide your ignorance just because of hate, tribalism and bigotry.

In fact the firm is creating the industrial park most of it. The state govt is merely giving out land. If I go further now it may sound like I am hating on Osun.

The needless urge to hate Osun state and Gov. Aregbesola as usual and spew unintelligent rubbish prevented you from realizing and asserting the basic and obvious effects of such collaborations in terms of jobs, economic diversification and IGR regardless what the state is contributing or not contributing.

Or your puerile understanding says the only way to diversify your economy, create jobs and generate IGR is to give money to investors to set up business with?

In your 'neutral' mind you think one firm will just establish a whole industrial park like that. I hope everything is true and as presented here.
As for your emotional rant I choose to let that slide for now.

I thought IGR wasn't important in that other thread a month ago. If I say what's on my mind now pride may not let you accept the truth.
