Sylvester igboun with a brace and an assist in Ufa's 3-0 win over amkar perm. He played the full 90minutes.
Brian idowu and fegor ogude were also on for full 90 minutes for the losing side.

I agree.

Is he older than Martins? If Martins is good enough even though he is scoring in China, Ogbeche should also be considered.

Club performance should get him an invite to the national team.
He is just 33. And still performing in the Dutch league.

Hope you know Henry is his own man. Like Vicmo, Henry is a winger who hardly play with the striker. He hardly cross, any space in the box with Defenders, he does it alone. Then defensively if we lose possession, he doesn't have the strength & so does Iwobi. Our second goal against Argentina was possible because kc didn't have the skillset but gifted with an eye for a telepathic pass to pick out Alex. With Henry, he will take them on & they will crowd him out in due course. Most tactical teams will do that to him.

Humility017:

I won't mind Moses play the wing back role....

should we use the 3-5-2 formation.

how about we try...

iwobi and Henry in the two man attack...
and also give a try to...
Ighalo and nacho combo...in the two man attack.....

I think iwobi and Henry combination gonna be deadly.....
Henry ball control and dribbling skills gonna be disastrous to most teams...

Henry will.be no relevant...
save for iwobi,nacho,and Ighalo.

that's nice...should him keep it up..
he may be considered...
being that he plays in Russia and he has acclimatized wit the environment..already.
though idowu presence in the team may limit his chances.

I still remember he scored one of the goals during our match against Swaziland.

Super Eagles to face real Argentina squad – Disu

PIUS UTOMI EKPEI

Former Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Tunde Disu, says the Super Eagles should be ready to face the real Albiceleste of Argentina at the World Cup.

Disu gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos on the draws made on Friday that pit Nigeria in Group D alongside, Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.

The World Cup draws held in Russia, Nigeria is in the group alongside Argentina who they had faced four times before in the World Cup in 1994, 2002, 2010 and 2014.

The only time Nigeria avoided Argentina in the World Cup was in 1998 in France.

It will, however, be the fifth time Nigeria will be facing the Albiceleste opposition at the grand football fiesta.

According to the draws, Nigeria will play first against Croatia in the first ever senior international match, while the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup, Iceland will play against Nigeria also in Group D.

The Icelanders, the only newcomers, will play two-time winners Argentina in their first World Cup finals match.

The Eagles last group match will be against Argentina who have turned their World Cup nemesis.

On Argentina’s opposition, Disu said that though Argentina was becoming a familiar foe, yet Nigeria should not start counting their teeth with their tongues.

could have had an easier group. I would have preferred to play a lesser known Asian country. Playing Iceland is good for us I think because we still have something to prove because we lost to them and even though they are getting results we should beat them realistically 9 times out of 10. Iceland plays on heart and hard work. They outwork you. Even the game we lost was not reflective of who controlled the game. The game we won 2-0 Iceland barely passed half. When we think a team is too easy we drop our level so I think playing Iceland is a good reminder that anything can happen which will force Cro to not take them lightly and come out playing. So we literally have 3 games where we won’t be taking it easy I think and that’s when we play best.
With Nigeria being the youngest team in the tournament I think it’s good we open with them considering they may be more nervous. My only worry is them being fast playing with nothing to lose and us being late to a ball resulting in a card or PK a la Lovren. Other than that we should progress if we play to our standard. We need a good result the first game.

We’ll move the ball on Nigeria . African countries hate playing us- we move the ball and get a lead and frustrate them – they ‘ll take stupid fowls and get red-carded- I see that game already
Iceland -they won’t be a surprise to us- we’ll be ready for them-they do it all thru hustle but they haven’t seen a stage like this-they’ll be peeing ice pellets
Argentia -totally overrated- Messi and the nobodies- we got lucky – I like this group- thank god it’s not Mexico or Australia -we can’t beat those guys for some reason.

Argentina plays poorly then comes alive in big tournaments. Messi is a game changer…no other player on earth has the ability to win a game like Messi. Nigeria scares the shit out of me. They are fast and very talented. Iceland, Bleep them…we can get out of this group…but the Nigeria game is key!

I saw an interesting start about Nigeria. They had by far the fewest percent of goals scored after making ten passes out of any team in the tournament
Not sure if this means they are simply a counter attacking team, strong on set pieces, or just not good at soccer but faster than everyone else

Man if we look good on paper, where do u put Argentina? Not saying we cant win the group, but this is the wc. After senegal in 2002 with kamara, diouf, diop im a big fan of African teams. Onazi in the midfield for Nigeria, very nice player.
December 2, 2017 at 2:02 AM

Nigeria is good but it favors us to play them in the first match.
Dalić needs to scout every match that our pool of young players are in domestic and in Europe.
Tired legs will get punished in June.
Nigeria are young and will have hungry players who want to get big money transfers to elite clubs.
Iceland “is who we thought they we’re, are and will be.” Vilkings on a mission.
Argentina is not be disrespected with Messi but they set up nicely for us to employ our counter attack game plan.
We play our speed ballers on the flanks then we are good to go to compete with group D.
I’d love to see Modrić lead us on a deep run but after decades of pool play ineptitude, I’ll take one play off match against a major team and be happy.
We need to progress out of pool to give the next generation inspiration.
U boj ..

reread your write up..... saying that maldini and co retired due to old age....meaning they still have their class intact...can still deliver when called to play football...if possible win the world cup for their country....then why did them retire in the first place?

my brother nothing...absolutely nothing last forever....
What are you saying bro?? its obvious you don't know the meaning of "class".

How can you judge a player that has already retired. You only judge them as at their playing days.

Why do we have football legends like Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo etc...

You need stop arguing unnecessarily

That was Eliteserien or whatever the spelling is.
Nwakali was in bench.
Take not that Sogndal finished 3rd to last. I think the last and 2nd to last have been relegated automatically.
That team plays in their second tier. probably the the team that finished 3rd in the second tier.

My guess is the that the 3rd best team in the second tier takes on the 3rd to last in the first tier, home and away to determine if Sogndal will get relegated or not.

I can check to confirm this.

Dedebanky85:
I don't think they played today. I saw a game involving Songdal online, but that was an adecoligan league game whatever that stands for. His team plays in the tippelegan league. I never get to watch some Norwegian league games cos the only streams you see are never available in my country. But if for some reason it's true that his team is relegated we can take some solace that he's not their true player. But that would mean he and Awoniyi are struggling for the title of playing for teams that always get relegated. Lol

@bolded, forwards (wingers) who can play as wing-backs will come handy.

Humility017:

Do you know that almost all Nigeria strikers have similar blazing highlights when coined from YouTube...? even Bartholomew Ogbeche self...

so highlights can be deceptive....

to be honest wit you...if we are going to adopt that 2-5-3 & 2-3-5 formation...

then we will have less need for too many forwards...

Visited that forum and just found out that the Croats are quite arrogant and cocky. They genuinely believe they are favorite to win the group and are already making plans for the round of 16.

One of the posters opined that Croatian players would be 7 steps ahead of Nigerian players. Dude thinks the Nigerian team is a typical African team that is lacking in technical know how of the game.

In all, after visiting that site, it will feel great if we smash the Croats.

Moses can play upfront in a 3-4-3

jihday:
me think Moses is too important for us to use him as a wingback, he could pair with whoever up top and have the licence to roam, just my thought tho. but I don't think we'll use that formation unless situation calls for it

Early 30s is not too old in football.
From 35 onwards, then we can start talking about the age factor. It's not like Ogbeche is an age-cheat suspect.

Certitude:

I'd say we call him. His stats are getting hard to ignore. Forget age, as far as he is performing, then sincerely he is good to go. How many of our strikers is scoring hatrick and brace?

Abeg which kind lie be that?, that henry is his own man?, where in the hell is it done in football?, henry is a good team player, he has a good passing accuracy if you watch his games you will notice that he has an eye for a pass but most time teodocyke always wastes it or unlucky. Henry is a guy that is not goal shy once he sight a post he shoots and most times score. After all in football a little bit selfishness is needed for one to stand out. He will easily fit into a wing back cos i seem him collects balls from the midfielder and push the attack, he majorly has a hand in terms of buildup play leading to a goal.
