You say you don't need Jesus, you have Almighty God. Remember the devil also claims and people still refer to him as their Almighty God. You've passed for not even being a Christian at all let alone deeper member.

When a man of God leads a church he must guide strongly the setting so the devil doesn't infiltrate it with fables. The part where i don't like is where other Christians can't live without their pastors, prayer na to call pastor, this and dat. Even when pastors bring demonic doctrine not in the bible they follow, these are parts i hate and deeper life don't give doctrine that doesn't align with the word of God.

OP as one who was raised in Deeper Life, I disagree with you.

1. The focal point of Deeper Life is Christ NOT Kumuyi, although they have this centralised sytem of Church management where Kumuyi as at the centers of Church decisions BUT if has nothing to do with doctrine.

Unlike other Churches, you will never hear GOD OF KUMUYI in DLBC.

2. Deeper Life DON'T emphasise on Tithes but they encourage tithing. They however, lay emphasis of 'freely giving' BUT they don#'t threaten nor preach any special blessings to those that give. In fact, they believe that reward comes from God and not by your works.

3. There are a couple of things I'd have changed in Deeper Life if I have my way- like their rules in dressing and certain lifestyles which I believe they assume the Opinion of Kumuyi to be that of Christ...

It is insane to even ask if DLBC is a cult. Cultists live closed and segregated lifestyles but DLBC members don't. They live openly and associtae with others THOUGH they may not compromise their faith.

I'm not a deeper life member, I feel they are quite rigid. But for you to equate that ministry to a cult shows you've lost it. You need to re-evaluate your christian stand...that's if you're actually a Christian. God has been using Kumuyi before you were born. Like the mortal he is, I'm sure Kumuyi has his faults. The standard there is Holiness, if you can't deal then you fall out.

The Church will keep marching on, and the gates of hell will never prevail.

no pastor is my standard, only the bible is the standard.

no church is perfect but that doesn't make u equate a church of God to cult group. that is so derogatory.

Finally, I have been waiting for a member to actually acknowledge that some points raised by the OP are true. I have attended the church for five years and yes three or four points are true. Problem is labelling the church a cult. That's so derogatory

The OP is absolutely delusional and simply trying to taint the image of this wonderful church. The OP is prolly a mercenary from one of the other big churches trying to drag this wonderful church's name into the controversial mud like other big churches have currently.

I'm a full time Deeper Life member for more than 27yrs and all W.F Kumuyi has done is preach Holiness and Salvation. He nvr preached wealth or forced pple to pay tithe. He doesn't own anything fancy. Everytime he comes here to Minneapolis, MN to preach, he's very modest and down to earth.

You can call him a juggernaut, fanatic or too-disciplined just like John the Baptist and Paul were regarded during their days.
As much as I myself get bored with him at times, he will NEVER, I repeat NEVER deviate from the truth.

So OP, you're indeed a BIG disgrace to the truth and all Christians.

In all. Truth is very difficult to believe. A man with several works of darkness fears light. People are comfortable with emotional preachers today. What was the message of Jesus to sinners. What were the messages of the apostles and prophets of old to the sinning nations and individual? You don't even understand scriptures as a pastor as you called yourself.

Leave Kumuyi out, all I know he's a passionate teacher who desire success for all his students (disciples, pupils, followers). He's a perfect leader but not the author and finisher of our faith. If you don't obey your leader in the Lord, father or political leader who else will you obey.

Be careful not to incur God's wrath upon yourself because we shall all be judged by the words of our mouths. Where is your Bible? Have ever gone through your bible to see if really his teaching are true. You that criticizes what exhortation or correction have you given in your post? Don't block way for sinners to repent or put contusion on people's way please.

You need God's mercy in your life. No matter your Assembly one thing is certain John 3:3 EXCEPT I and you are born again no heaven we seem to be claiming. Without HOLINESS no ONE shall see the Lord.

Let's grow out of criticisms and face the realities. Let's accept the truth of the scripture and move out of envy and jealousy, gossiping, errors etc. Of what value it is I succeeded in destroying my brother? Have ever told him or written to him before coming up on air to say all these? Even if you have done that...

Are we happy with religious matter especially Christianity being rubbished on air? It is a total disgrace.

Finally, THE FOUNDATION OF GOD STANDS SURE, HAVING THIS SEAL, GOD KNOWS THOSE WHO BELONG TO HIM...LETS STOP ARGUMENTS. GOD BLESS YOU.

Well,I will add few things though certainly the OP is not a christian but he has few points due to doctrines.
I have them so well on my street
1.they choose marriage partners for individuals I.e like a woman with masters compelled to marry a mechanic with little or no education
2. I witness one where a member of almost 20yrs whose wedding was not allowed to be carried out in the church just because the daughter married someone outside the deeper life church. God saved her she was a principal of an Anglican school at the time and used her influence to hold the wedding in the school chapel .
3. They don't interact with people both on street and outside and view people as not holy as them
But,I love pastor kumuyi lifestyle and his simplicity and I believed he is not aware of most of these unholy doctrines

• They are so spiritually arrogant, and portray their church as the next best thing to holiness while other churches are either further away from holiness or fake altogether

• They separate families, husbands and wives, children and parents, siblings, co-workers etc .

• If you are in a second marriage and become born again (so called), you must go back to your first wife and reconcile to her, assuming she is unmarried because your second wife is not recognized by God. Imagine the confusion this will cause especially with children involved.

• They lack true compassion and love for everyone else other than their own members

• They use hell fire to threaten their members into paying tithes and to abide by church rules and regulations.

• If you are not careful, the church will take over your individuality and you will become another zombie minion without a mind of your own

• The church also has to tendency to preach against wine or alcohol intake, something that was never commanded in the bible, rather the bible says we should do everything in moderation

• It is difficult to be truly happy in Deeper Life because you are always fighting one sin or the other or chasing one demon or the other

• Their focus is strongly selfish, it is all about your own salvation and escaping hell to make heaven.

• They will often tell off young women for certain styles of dressing, the problem is many of these same women have the heart of Jezebel, very similar to a modest radical Muslim woman who despite dressing modestly with the Hijab will easily blow up innocent civilians in the name of her god.

• They preach the fables and myths of a fictitious rapture (started by a charlatan called Scholfield ) , Trinity and Hell fire


Young ones, do not be enticed to join. God has called you to express your individuality and make choices in favour of righteousness and peace. God does not want any man to rule over you or force his own belief on you. You are answerable only to God and not Man.

Enjoy this life and all that goes with you, don’t live a life of misery in the name or religion.
What amazes me is that, you never used a Bible verse to counter all this. Pathetic. I guess you never stepped the church talk less of becoming a worker. Liar.
Best thing about this church is that they use Bible verses to back up their claims.
I'm a guy of 20 years old, born in deeper life, will not marry in the place. But I hope my wife changes and we go back to the church, I won't disturb her dressing tho. But I bet, if she follows me to that church for good two months, she'll change without me telling her. Shalom

I doubt that you spent 20 years in Deeper Life . Otherwise you are one of the most miserable individuals in the world. You had two choices, either to stay in the church or to leave. You decided to stay for your own reason, and when you now left , or were kicked out, it all becomes the fault of the church. And you must publicly blackmail them to feel good. If you don't like a church, it is just not for you . There are fortunately hundreds of thousands of churches all over Nigeria. Find another one that fits your character and your need. Go there.
People like you are destined for hell, if there is such a place.

PS: I was a member of Deeper Life for 8 years and decided that RCCG would give me better self-expression. Due to the discipline and knowledge of scriptures thay the good man Pastor Kumuyi had given me, I was nearly instantly made a pastor at RCCG , which I also had to leave years later because I felt uncomfortable with the sort of "self-expression" that we were permitted and which my foundation at Deeper Life dis not agree with. I thereafter choose not to be a member of any church, and only attending the church that the spirit at any time directs. In Deeper Life I received the greatest and the best quality bible teaching , and in MFM which I presently attend more regularly I received the best lessons in prevailing prayers.
If you don't like a church, it is just not for you. Find another one that fits your character and your need.Period.

You can see how far away from Christ these whitewashed hypocrites are, first of all, they always attack the messenger and never the message, then they start cursing with the foulest language possible and thereby exposing the darkness of their hearts.


I stand by this post, any MAN who believes he has the absolute truth and cannot be questioned is dangerous and the group he leads is a CULT.

Deeperlife rain curses on poor members every Sunday with Malachi because they are unable to afford tithes, they denigrate women for the way they dress instead of carefully and lovingly admonishing them, they call any critic a backslider and they deny you were ever a worker the moment you start to write posts like this particular one ( which by the way makes them liars ).

God is God, he alone possesses truth and he alone is our master and savior through Christ.

The devil has successfully given most Christians another work to do aside evangelism. I believe that 90% of those that criticizes a particular church have been a member of that church but left because they were disciplined or couldn't submit to structure. If you know a church is wrong leave there gently and stop spreading wrong news about them. Were you there when God gave the General overseer instructions about the church? Leave them to do what they are doing face your own life. I'm not a deeper life member stop criticizing them if you can't stay there go to another church.

Kumuyi is called; Chris is called; so is Adeboye and Oyedepo: their callings have respective followers. If you don't like how Kumuyi leads you to God through Christ and his calling, go to Temitope Joshua. Muhammed, Buddha, Abrulsheen all claimed to lead people to God; so was Jesus the Christ. I've seen him done and doing it: He's led me to God. If you don't know the meaning of "deeper", check the dictionary, and stop complaining about the 'deeper' standard of a true Christian life you can't live. I'm not a Deeper Lifer. Thank you!

I left because I disagreed with some of the church doctrines and started to use my own brain rather than be a sponge absorbing all sorts of ludicrous and mythical teachings.

Have you ever told a Deeper Life member that you are a Catholic and flexible Christian? How did they look at you thereafter? Find out.

That said, I must say I got grounded in the Word of God in Deeper Life. Pastor Kumuyi holds that much respect with me to this day even when I don't agree with the application of some teachings on holiness i.e. how to be holy.

If you don't preach what they preach they believe you are a defeated preacher. Sometimes I wonder if spiritual arrogance will not be the stain in the garments of righteousness of most of them. God forgive me for saying this but I think it is better to look inwards than do everything possible to justify oneself.

A lot of people that left Deeper life did not leave because of their doctrine or holiness. I believe they left because of the overzealous application of doctrine in lieu of love.

The OP is obviously someone who loved Christ but has lost the fear of God. Permit me to ask Frosbel, when last did you take stock of your life with God. You have been deceived alright, but you are not yet lost. Come back to Jesus. Remember, the world is not offended when you talk about God, they are offended when you talk about Jesus.

For those of us that still love Christ and fear God, let us be praying for Frosbel, for Deeper life and for ourselves. The end is nearer now than when we first believed.

Deeper life is the best place for any young believer in Jesus Christ. But to me (my opinion, that is) it is a primary/secondary school that establishes you. Once you start getting frustrated and you can't place your finger on the reason, it means it is time to go be a blessing to another ministry. Staying back will only disorient you further.

I left Deeper life long ago. I happily live a life of holiness but not in the way I was taught which was almost by willpower. I live the life of holiness by freewill. In Deeper life I was always afraid of falling, now I don't fear falling and I don't fall. I discovered something called WALKING IN THE SPIRIT which has nothing to do with dogmatic teachings and external control (which by the way is good for babes in the Lord).

Finally, I have been waiting for a member to actually acknowledge that some points raised by the OP is true. I have attended the church for five years and yes three or four points are true. Problem is labelling the church a cult. That's so derogatory
