Advice On How To Manage A Gumboro Endemic Farm by obstead200(m): 8:01am On Dec 17, 2017
My pple, I am in trouble.
It seems my farm has become gumboro endemic.
My last batch of pullets had gumboro at 8weeks and I lost over a hundred. The rest have started laying ams are doing fine.

Now I brought in a new batch of 500. They are 4weeks old and still in the brooding house. presently one brooding house is down with gumboro. It is a sorry sight. Have lost about 10 today and over 80 more are looking really down.

The brooding rooms are sealed off but it shares same hall and access with the battery cage section where the laying birds are.
I suspect the virus came from the laying birds.
Vaccination is always done as at when due. Don't really know what is wrong ooo.
Pls advice is needed on what to do in future cos I suspect I will have similar problems with future batches.

Well, I believe you know that most viral diseases has no cure yet..

For those birds that are laying already, they are already a carrier of the disease and they won't come down with the disease anymore.

For the new birds, get antibiotics like keproceryl or Neoceryl to treat secondary complications.

To prevent future occurrence , you need to dispose all the birds on the farm, wash and clean the pens with strong disinfectant and leave the pen for sometime before using and try to maintain strict biosecurity..

I hope this help

STOP BUYING POL PULLETS,START FROM DAY OLD SO THAT U'LL SURE OF YOUR VACCINATION/MEDICATION...ISOLATE THE SICK ONES FIRST AND GET STRONG ANTIBIOTICS,NO VACCINE CAN WORK NOW

My brother,it means you didn't vaccinate your birds as at when due,and if you vaccinate them it means it fails to work that is why it is good to vaccinate them with gumboro twice I. E day 12 and day 24.people believe once you buy your vaccines and administered it to birds that it would certainly works but that is not the case atimes.the potency of the vaccines reduces coz of how the vaccines are stored, heat, handling of the vaccines and others.the only thing to salvage the remaining birds is to get bursa gumboro vaccine and administered to them followed by vitamin and as for the ones that are down there is no remedy for them.good luck

Get gumbo ND liquid and administer to them.
Change your vaccination program.
Sell off and fumigate with formalin
Allow pen to rest
Go for pol rather
Improve your biosecurity

This my post is over 2 years old. Well, just for education purposes, I guess I will narrate what we did differently to stop the recurring IBD.
We relocated the brooding rooms so that it does not share same access corridor with the matured laying birds.
We switched to B2K and similar vaccines. We followed a strict and aggressive medication programme.
Disinfectant water is compulsory in all rooms until at least 12 weeks old.

We have successfully raised 3 batches from DOC without gumboro issues. We did not even have to clear out the farm completely, even though I wud have loved to do so but commercial reasons and the need to remain trading made me decide against it. I still wish I can bring myself to clear out my farm and rest in for about 6months, but I fear I might not be able to rise back to my present capacity within reasonable time.......all those witches wey dey siphon cash from person pocket are just lying around. As soon as u sell of Ur stock and start resting the farm, dey will enter and start draining Ur cash even before u restart
