However, such is usually popular with women from the Southern parts of the country especially, a good number of Northern women do not get fat after birth.

You will get fat during the process of pregnancy and after childbirth lets say 65 percent of women dont just snap back magically, but if you're dedicated, you will lose it. It has taken me 16 months to lose all my baby weight and a few extra pounds (to humor myself). It takes dedication, strictness and time and a lot of women do not have the time, patience or resources to do so. This is why a lot of women who have given birth get fat. Most of them never took time to lose the weight and the weight keeps creeping up on them, they in turn just accept it as part of womanhood and a price to pay for having kids.

But safe to say, even after losing weight, you body will never remain the same as when you have not had a kid. Things are just not the same even if you lose the weight. She has the money and she decided to have work done, I am not mad at her at all.

I agree with you, I think it has to do with body structure of West African women, but to be honest, its not such a big issue as long as it is not excessive. We are use to it already, the only reason people talk about weight so much these days is because of westernisation, social media and loss of African values.
