PRESS RELEASE

NO UN STAFF KILLED IN MAULA ENCOUNTER WITH INSURGENTS

Contrary to the information currently making the rounds in a section of the media that four United Nations staff had been killed and four trucks conveying food for internally displaced persons were carted away, the Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole wishes to state that the report grossly misrepresents the true situation of the incident as none of the casualties in the encounter has been identified as a staff of the UN.

In setting the record straight, it is necessary to state here that a patrol escorting a convoy of civilian vehicles to Logomani encountered an ambush staged by elements of Boko Haram insurgents at Maula village along Dikwa-Ngala trans sahara highway which resulted in a firefight between troops and the insurgents. The troops however fought through the ambush, overpowered the insurgents and killed six of them. The troops also captured 3 AK 47 rifles, 3 locally fabricated fire arms, 4 magazines and a belt of 7.62 mm ammunition. Sadly four persons died in the encounter. Although none of the persons killed in the ambush has so far been identified as a staff of the UN, this Headquarters considers the lives of all citizens and indeed all humans sacrosanct, which must be protected by troops even at a supreme price.

The situation has been brought under control and and further exploitation of the general area is currently being carried out by Mobile strike Team of Operation Lafiya Dole.

Please disseminate this information through your various news media to the general public.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Col O Nwachukwu
Deputy Director Public Relations

That M16 rifle pics just go to prove that BHT is indeed receiving significant support from terrorist organization in the Middle east.

Not underestimating the nuisance armed Hostiles may pose especially if active over a wide geographic area, however, nearly every time, we are shown Desperado Bandit-like weapons recovered. What would the the Terrorists be like if broadly better armed? By many indicators, Nigeria Military need major re-equipping, no excuses required. Proof of purchase is plenty justification especially in a situation where, engaged in hot war, military requests it. .

Perhaps, it came all the way from Iraq. ISIS looted their armoury seizing a significant amount of American made weapons, enough to sustain an army for years.

Where else could it be coming from? Cos the few African countries using the M16 are relatively peaceful.

Well, warfare has shown that a well planned ambush of people armed with lugers can bring about the use of a body bag

Indeed and perhaps, after reading the quoted on BBC (visit link for context) better weapons may be at hand for some Boko elements , Headsmen and the rest :

According to government figures, there are about 400 private groups which employ around 450,000 people, but only 33,000 police officers.
Added to this, members of the the UN working group on mercenaries noted an estimated 1.3m illegal weapons have been smuggled into Ghana, as well as the spread of vigilante groups and armed individuals.

i guess since these weapons pour into Ghana over a period of time it would be more accurate to suggest that it likely represents terrorists with another source /opportunity. In addition, it makes sense to assume from this report that something like this is replicated all over West Africa. I've only sat up in this instance because, unlike the majority of Nigerians,it seems,I've never trusted the Ghana/Ghanaian mentality pertinent to Nigeria/ Nigerians interest. That's just me, I'm sorry.

NAVY APPOINTS FIRST FEMALE GENERAL FROM THE NORTH

The Nigerian Navy on Monday decorated Navy Captain Jamila Malafa with her promoted rank of Commodore, equivalent with army rank of Brigadier General, making her the first female of Northern extraction to become a one-star general.

The Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Navy Headquarters Abuja, Rear Admiral Henry Babalola said it is a thing of pride to attained the rank of Commodore in the Navy, adding that there are a few women that have achieved such height.

He noted that going by her resume the Nigerian Navy exposed her to a lot of courses and training during her career, capping it up with the prestigious MNI.

He said her elevation should serve as an inspiration to women folk in the Armed Forces, adding that there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Commodore Malafa noted that she is the first female of northern extraction to be promoted to the rank of general in the Navy.

She said the promotion inspires her to be more loyal and dedicated in her duties to the Navy and Nigeria.

Commodore Jamila Malafa was born in 1965 in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

She joined the Nigerian Navy in 1988 and was Commissioned as midshipman in 1990.

SupremeCourt:

It pains you to bone marrow, I told you what you need to remember, you have no job, no career, no achievement, and Nairaland is your daily cocaine sniff for happiness. You asked me to keep quiet for your friends to ride me like donkey on the photo thread, I shoved that back into your face and you saw you acted senseless.

You want me to sacrifice my own human rights of freedom of speech to maintain the ever elusive peace on Nairaland military threads because you are not smart enough to know that 20 men in one room have 20 different characters and will always fight in that room, but you want to force me to mellow down for other to trample on so you can enjoy a quiet Nairaland since your daily mood swings like pendulum with the mood on internet, your happiness goes on and off like NEPA-PHCN depending on how Nairaland arguments sway sweet or bitter.

I have put you where you belong, and I crushed the skull of your self-imposed mafia rulers who want to control other people's freedom on the web. Patriotism is missing with many Nigerians like Dasuki, Badeh, Amosu and most of you here on Nairaland military forums, born into this unlucky country. You will gladly sacrifice Nigeria for personal gain of ego or cash. I know a patriot when I see one. You are not that kind of breed, thinking you are does not make you one.

Yes I posted many falling to pieces photos of Nigerian T-72 tanks with many dozens of broken and lost ERA armour many times here, the army 'captain inside T-72' who first asked for my evidence has melted away when he saw these photos, only ego will not let him admit I proved him wrong, but human conscience told him I am too right to be wrong and he stopped challenging my T-72 claims.

99% of you here on Nairaland have an epidemic disease of dishonesty and insincerity, you never admit you are proved wrong in the face of facts and clear evidence, you still keep denying truths till the person telling the truth calls you the name you deserve to be called.

Any Nigerian seeing these photos and still denying Nigerian T-72 tanks are falling to pieces is a traitor not a patriot. I posted the ERA pics when we purchased and the ERA now gone leaving large visible empty spaces that Boko Haram RPG will enter and cook up T-72 ammunition storage to roast innocent soldiers to ashes, and for this you all lie to yourselves that I have destroyed this thread. Only God knows how many millions of demonic people we have among 180 million Nigerians.

Please go find a full time job with good monthly salary and stop wasting your productive youthful years on internet, Nairaland wont pay you any salary, and your mood will never be stable as you seek happiness among all kinds of men who prowl here with cult demons controlling them. Truth is bitter, go find a career job sir.

Well, the T-72 is designed to take a beating. But I'm inclined to side with you, my reasons being that there are only a few T-72s in theatre, therefore the rate of wear & tear on these machines will probably be much higher as they're probably the main armoured workhorse against BH.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE OFFICER BAGS COMMANDANT’S AWARD AT NAVAL WAR COLLEGE

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officer, Group Captain David Babalola recently bagged the Commandant's Award for the Best Research Paper during the graduation ceremony held for the first set of participants of the Naval Warfare Course at the Naval War College Nigeria. The award winning research paper is titled 'Health Care Delivery and Human Security: An Assessment of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the NAF'. Group Captain Babalola also received the Chief of the Naval Staff's Award for emerging as the Second Best participant on the Naval Warfare Course. The NAF officer received both awards during the College’s first graduation ceremony, which was held on 15 December 2017 at the College premises in Ubima, Rivers State.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the graduation ceremony, tasked the graduating participants to bring to bear the knowledge they had acquired in the new responsibilities that would be assigned to them in their respective Services. In addition, the CDS acknowledged the continued support of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was represented at the occasion by Air Vice Marshal Stephen Onuh, who is the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command of the NAF.

Participants of Naval Warfare Course 1 were made up of 12 officers from the Nigerian Navy in addition to one Nigerian Army and two from the NAF. The participation of two NAF officers in the Naval Warfare Course is in line with the CAS Vision, which focuses on inter-Service cooperation as one of its key drivers. The performance of the award-winning NAF officer during the Course is in keeping with the excellent tradition for which the NAF is renowned. Besides, it is seen as an attestation of the fact that the efforts of the CAS to promote excellence among NAF personnel are yielding fruits.
