Hi Stepo07,

My result was okay. Before the test I was worried I hadn't done any mock tests and wasn't sure what to expect. The most difficult parts for me which came as a shock / rude awakening were the re-tell lecture and describe image areas of the test. I employed Jay's (E2 Language) method of Title + x-axis (for Describe image) however some mixed charts caused me to just talk (fluency) whilst not properly interpreting the right data on the chart. As a result of just wanting to apply proven methods my vocabulary was poor, got lowest marks there. The others were pretty okay (Read Aloud, Fill in the blanks, etc). Essay was standard.

This was on the 19th of December. Left the center feeling down due to the few mistakes in my speaking. Hesitated once and the mic got cut off after 3 seconds. On another occasion I used up the time and was also cut off.

As I read earlier here I expected my results in two to three days but was shocked to see an email telling me my score report was ready less than 24 hours after my test. Long tori short see my result below:

Listening - 84
Reading - 90
Speaking- 79
Writing - 90

Seeing the result above, I now realize how lucky I was to have escaped with a 79 in speaking and run away with "Superior English".
I quickly logged in to SkillSelect, withdrew my Visa 190 application, and then updated my 189 points which stood at 60. At the end of the update, the new score changed to show 70 points.

Came back here on the forum to find out that I just missed out on an invitation round and that the next will be on the 3rd of January. I can't wait.

Breaking down the process so far:

Age: 33 - 45.
Work Experience: 8 years +
ACS - Positive Assessment in October (Acknowledged 6 years, swallowed 2)
IELTS: LRSW - 8.0, 8.5, 7.5, 7.5 (should have remarked but didn't have a clue I could do so with these scores)
PTE: December 19th, Got superior English
Total points - 70.

My advice like many here have given for the PTE is to keep practicing with Jay from E2 Language especially on the speaking part which a lot of folks have problems with ( I know I did). If you have the time to do practice or mock tests (which I didn't have due to a crazy work schedule) then by all means please do so. 79 on speaking was me pushing it. Could have gone terribly wrong.

All in all I thank God and am now waiting for the ITA. Also a big thanks to everyone here that has shared stories on the platform to help others. God bless all of una.
Wow really a narrow escape. thanks for the encouraging advice.

You will definitely need more years of experience. however, there might be another option of accessing as a hardware technician but this profession is only on the 489 visa. @eladua can help with this or search his moniker and you'd see his posts here and how he went about getting his grant as a hardware technician.

Why did you withdraw your 190 application?
You never know, that ITA might come first. @fizzywah

Oh really!!! Just felt it would be best to avoid getting tied down to a particular state for 2 years going the 190 route.

But if there is any reason I may not be aware of please let me know. Honestly having made up my mind already about this movement the ITA should've come like last week. Kindly advise.

It is the normal GT MasterCard you have,If what you are paying for is not more than 1000 USD. Are you assessing your work experience? If you're going to assess work experience, that means it will be more than 1000 USD.You will need dollars MasterCard. They deducted #282.5 for 1 AUD.

Thanks.
Is there another way I can pay for the assessment because I do not have that dollars MasterCard?

With the current trend, you wouldn't get an ITA with a 70 in next round. People have been waiting for like a month now with a 70 point.
The number of invites was reduced drastically to about 700 and even less in December.

@Trastar,
Good evening, please I would appreciate if you could answer the following:
1. Have you gotten a grant?
2. Did your husband still access with ACS using a statutory declaration and if yes, did it go successfully?

Expecting your replies.

Thank you so much!!!

No we haven't, we had to repeat our assessment to included experiences we assumed we couldn't include before. The accessemnt outcome just came out last week and that's when we became a 70 pointer.
He accessed with ACS using reference letter from his office.

So someone can get 489 visa easily with 60points?

TRA and ACS are not the same thing.
You don't just decide which to access with..
You were advised to go go the TRA route as a hardware technician because your years of experience is not enough to give you a positive outcome with ACS.
Hardware technician isn't as competitive as other ICT occupations hence you can get a grant with 60 points however, it's only available on the 489 visa.
Merry Christmas.

A special greetings to all the elders in this thread. Please I need your advice on how to go about this Australia work permit, I was introduced to one agent and she told me that she is going to help me in processing the visa but she will take 1.8m but first I will have to make a deposit of 200k for a start then when my visa is out I will pay the remaining money.

And I also have another person who told me the same Australia work permit at the same rate of 1.8m and Australia employment visa at 1.750m but I will have to make a deposit of 60k at a start. And he also tell me about New Zealand visa at the rate of 1.5m with a deposit of visa fees 60k. But the problem now is that I don't know how to go about it do to what is happening now in Nigeria through some so called agents. So please if there is any one on this thread that can help me with a good advice on how to go about it because am a kind of confused right now thank you all Waiting to get a good reply.

This thread is do it yourself thread and I believe you can do it yourself too. Over 50 people and still counting have done it on this thread.
Read page 0 of this thread to get started and ask questions/clarifications afterwards. People would be willing to assist you after you have made efforts yourself.

That your 200k or 60k will be gone before you know it. Shine your eyes oo. Like Zany stated, read from Page 0 to 10 and then ask specific questions.

The first Red flag should be the fact that what they are promising you is a work permit.
A lot of people have read this thread and did the entire process themselves and gotten a Permanent Residency Visa. Not Work permit.
Read the first 5 pages and you will see you don't need an agent.

It depends on what they rated your qualification to be. If rated to be equivalent to Australian Bachelor degree, you get 15 points.

Thanks Zany, please let me clarify, are you saying that if the outcome of the assessment is Technologist instead of engineer that you can still get 15points?

The degree is B.sc Physics Electronic Technology.
thanks so much for your time.

Irrespective of what you are assessed as, (PE or ET) you can claim 15 points if your qualification is rated equivalent to Australian Bachelor's degree. Your qualification equivalence will be stated in the outcome letter.
