It's a fantastic deal actually for a TM Lewin shirt, especially if you are looking to replenish your wardrobe before the new year. I normally use them, as well as Next and Mark & Spencer for my daily wears to work. I prefer TM Lewin due to their amazing replacement policy. There was a time I bought a set of 2 shirts from them and the delivery was delayed by the delivery company. I told TM Lewin about it and they not only sent a replacement, but they also told me I can keep the one I initially ordered if it finally does arrive. I ended up having a set of 4 shirts for £40 in total, meaning each corporate shirt cost £10.

I only wear scrubs for work at the moment and little or nil social outings, so really no where for me to wear fancy shirts to! For the past year! Boring life, that's just me sha

Actually at the first instance, your username looks familiar.

You don't need it at least for now then. The only time I wore a shirt without a tie to work, my current manager drew my attention to an obscure part of the company policy that says 'All employees wearing a shirt with a collar must have a tie on'. So, I asked him what if I wear a shirt without a collar, the reply was that I would be signposted to the nearest Job Centre because that will be the start of disciplinary proceedings. grin

Sorry for derailing, UKMigrant.

Sales! sales! sales! Today, there was massive discounts offered by various stores and a lot of people trooped out to have a good deal and save money but guess what, I bought nothing grin cos I couldn't think of what I really need.

If you smoke and you are looking to quit, I fully recommend this vaping device. I started using it about 6 months ago, and I haven't touched a cigarette ever since. You fill it up with vaping liquid which basically contains nicotine and some flavouring, and you smoke it like normal. I know a lot of Nigerian immigrants do not smoke, but for those who do and are looking to quit without withdrawal symptoms, vaping is 95% safer. No smell, no carcinogens. It's basically smoking without all the bullshit.
that's the shit mehn
looking to get one here in naij... do you have an idea on cost?

well, it depends on what you earn first.... Do you earn over 2,000?

Let's assume £2100 is earned pcm (after tax). How could he save £14,000 per year?

find someone to squat with or don't pay rent, pack your lunch to work, buy a bicycle...I dunno, different strokes

Should be easy then.
Just make up your mind to save 1,000 pounds consciously every month and you'll be surprised how stingy you'll become

£2100 - £800(rent) - £600(train pass) - £200(HP) - £150 (Road tax, car insurance, fuel etc etc) - Council tax (£110) - Electricity & Gas (£100) - Feeding and drinking (£80) - Mobile phone (£50) - Land line + wifi (£45) etc etc etc.... Parking tickets etc etc Assuming this quotation is for a single person .......

Falzdbadtguy, some me a light way of saving £1000 pcm......

So the host pays rent or mortgage, while the squat lives free?
Don't pay rent and get evicted (and end up sleeping in bags @ shop fronts)?
How far can he cycle?
Pack lunch to work? TRUE (saving about £5 per working day)

On this breakdown alone, I can clearly see how at least £1000/month can be saved. I will type a reply later after work.

When a full family structure add to this mix, you would understand that moving up and down like a mouse, unsettles so many things.....

The person in question owns the property or a council tenant?
Does this person sell up or hope a non existent council property exists at the intended location or join the housing list, that is as long as from Nairaland to Mars?

Getting a job close to home is a good thing, what about if the options are not available within reach?

Continuously work overtime till infinity?

For a single guy, most of these expenses are unnecessary. He will comfortably save 1k a month.

And what would it take for a single guy to eventually become double, triple or quad?

Back in the good old days, a single room was £20 per week all inclusive......

Flick the switch 25 years later, the same arrangement would cost about £180 - £200 (location dependent) per week..........

Well, i am JJC here and most of my senior colleagues and married colleagues usually advice i remain single and avoid extravagant spending
I was also adviced to get a shared apartment initially, or remain with the aunt who accommodated me when i first came.

But, i enjoy my free space

I know some people that accommodate an in-law and niece in a posh neighbourhood , i found it hard to understand why working folks would be okay living like that! But, this UK i guess, is more than meets the eyes. Most people probably just live on credit here. Its really interesting

The other day, a girl i was chatting with online was asking if i would like to go on a trip around the world for over 6 - 8 months and i was just wondering about the money needed for that. I thought she was silly, guess that's their own fantasy

Upon travelling around the world, doesn't make them a little bit tolerant of foreigners, yet you want to go around the world and see different cultures...How weird!

Was always happy to send money home to Nigeria before, just realizing how silly it is now. So i'm less generous

All these savings we talk about only apply to single guys with no responsibilities. When you're married with kids in this country, it's a different ballgame. How easy your life would be would depend a lot on what part of the country you live in and what your average lifestyle is. You could be living from hand to mouth for years despite having a stable job.

The point I was trying to emphasis.......

But send, you still must....... If you have parents in Nigeria. You would always want to send a little something, on the regular (funds & bills permitting).....
