There a few websites out there to use. https://flatmates.com.au/find-place and Gumtree are very common ones. Download Gumtree Australia app. Register and search for Flatshare & Houseshare in your location of choice.

Do not pay or sign for a long contract as you are not sure if you will end up liking the house in terms of proximity to school or work. Ask to pay by the week to enable you look for better opportunities.

Rather than paying from Nigeria try to negotiate payment upon arrival or better still leave a $10-$20 secure deposit for the said room.

Hope that helps.

If your sponsor indicated that he or she owns a business company that he or she runs, it is advisable to show company registration documents (CAC documents)and tax clearance to show the genuines of the company, source of income on the part of the sponsor.

Does anyone know how long tourist visa processing takes these days? The website says 16-29 days, but we all know it is different in real life.

Any ideas anyone?

@ RoyalBlessed season greetings to you.
To be frank with you non of us in this forum works in DIBP, now known as Department of Home Affairs (Australia ) effected on the 19th December, 2017 as the superseding agency.
Changes have really taken place in Australian embassy of recent.
So, I will advice you exercise patience after the new year holiday, they will resume on the 2nd of January, 2018.
You can write to them after that if your application have surpassed the processing time base on when you submitted.
I believe enough Visa grant will flow in this month of January.
May Visa grant fall on you!.....

Thanks a lot for your response. It's actually for my mum, and it has been about 7weeks now. They said pretoria is processing triple volumes. Was just hoping someone who has applied for a 600 visa here would know.

Copied from "Didokev"

Log into your immi account and click on the view application. Then click on View Health assessment and answer questions regarding your health history. Save and submit your answer to get your HAP ID. Remember to do the same to arrange for your biometrics. Do not forget to click INFORMATION PROVIDED after your biometrics and medicals.

If you are using an Agent, the agent will do it.
Provide for you the four pages of the biometric details that you will go along with your international passport for the biometric proper. Thumb print, face and voice recognition.
7500 fee for the biometric.

If your mum application have surpassed the processing time base on when she lodged in her application.
Let her write to them or probably call them to make enquiry.

Each application have its own peculiarities and as such no need of comparison.
We have seen application submitted in June but was not attended to but someone that submitted early September his application was attended to.....
so let her write or call them to allay her worry.

Yes I know each application has its own peculiarities, but there is a different processing time standard for high-risk country applicants. Chinese and Indians get their visas faster than Africans do.

Hope you submitted your yellow fever and Polio vaccines. They are very important to the immigration than anyother documents you have submitted.
You can also fill in a complain form online but make sure you outline the importance of your traveling in a beseeching manner so it doesn't look as if you are cranky with them.

The website didn't say anything about yellow fever and polio. They haven't even requested for it as well. All the requested was biometrics.

It will be enough.
Hope the inflow and outflow of the funds in the account is ok not lodge fund.

Have you paid your Deposit tuition?..
Please let him submit the CAC documents and the landed property.

If he has any other form of funds like bond, fixed deposits or stocks he can tender that as well to show his financial capacity.

The Australian gov. look for every means to deny you entry.

Immi Polio Vaccination Certificates
New measures to mitigate the risk of polio transmission to Australia
Threats to public health

To protect the Australian community from public health and safety risks, visa applicants must be free from any disease or condition considered a threat to public health or a danger to the Australian community.

Wild Poliovirus

Polio is a highly infectious virus that invades the nervous system.

On 5 May 2014, the World Health Organization declared that the transmission of wild poliovirus is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and identified 10 countries as being of risk. These countries are Afghanistan, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Israel, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria.

Due to the very high vaccination coverage against polio in Australia, the risk of polio spreading in Australia is considered to be low. It is nevertheless considered appropriate for measures to be put in place that mitigate that risk.

Polio – New measures for visa applicants

If you have spent a period of 28 days or longer on after 5 May 2014 in Afghanistan, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Israel, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia or Syria, or any combination of these countries, you should provide your polio vaccination certificate. If you are lodging a new application, this should be provided at the time you apply.

Applicants attending a medical appointment with a panel physician should bring their vaccination certificate to the medical appointment.

If you do not provide the vaccination certificate at the time you apply, or at the time you undertake your medical appointment, your case officer may request the certificate. Otherwise, the [s]Department may request your certificate separately and this could delay your application[/s]. (THE FACT IS THEY STRAIGHT AWAY DENY YOU VISA)
For more information on polio, see the Australian Department of Health website.

For further immigration about the migration health requirement, including the requirement for evidence of polio vaccinations, see: Threats to Public Health
