My 'painment' here is that the tailor didn't even allow 2018 to go far before she started dishing out this kind of lie to us, maybe she thinks we still wear diapers though.

I like this, this is the best Social Marketing Strategy i have seen in a while, look at this scenario: Mercy's birthday is coming up and she wants her name to trend for long, A desperate designer met with her to get her towear her designer and publicise for her and this idea came up...boom....a relatively unknown person possibly Mercy's distance cousin from Benin with no social media status too want to trend...the trio sat down and made this up and YES PEOPLE BOUGHT IT HOOK LINE AND SINKER.....NA WA O

It is called damage control!! Unfortunately, it is not 'werking.' Is this material so common & popular, that both ladies (i.e. the prospective bride and Mercy Aigbe) would buy the same fabric, sew the same style with the same tailor, all within the same week? When it is not an aso-ebi?

On the date of delivery, the designer stopped picking her calls from the prospective bride. When they were finally able to reach her, after several hours, she gave one cock-and-bull story.

Despite the series of cat calls targeted at Mercy Aigbe, she locked her account & went into 'private' mode, instead of going public to clear the air, by telling the truth. If truly, Mercy had bought the same material and used the same tailor, she would have come out strongly to defend herself and clear her name, instead of going into hiding! It all sounds like a script from one of those dense Nollywood movies that Mercy Aigbe acts in.... with no rhyme, no reason and zero sense!

Ok, lets say we believe for a moment your explanation, lets see the other wrong dress delivered to the bride. Is it equally beautiful? If it is, bridie should just wear it and stop all this noise biko.

At what point did she realize a wrong dress was sent to the bribe? Because the bride said she refused to take her calls? It means she rented the dress with the believe that it would be returned on time for dispatch to the rightful owner. unfortunately, Mercy got engrossed in her rented robe that she delayed returning the dress.

Why did she not explain to the bride, because it was a day or two after that she discovered that her dress was partly shared or co-owned by Mercy.

why did Mercy not realize that her purported material was not the one delivered to her? Or the new one was more expensive so she adopted it?

if the sizes were different, why was Mercy comfortable with the dress?

lastly, how much was the designer paid to rent out the dress and spin this Lai?

She might not want to do that again cos she might have begged and even sent emissaries to her and making bogus promises to her just to make the issue die down.

I think the designer wanted Mercy Aigbe to model the dress on her behalf. She probably was looking for more high end customers because she was tagged. She wanted to market herself, but ended up disappointing who paid her for the job.
