Good day my elders.Please i am interested in studying nursing in Ireland.I got to understand that i am required to go for a foundation program before been accepted to study over there.I have gone through the thread but i can't find any valuable information pertaining to bachelor degree in nursing or foundation programme.Please my Ogas can you help me out with schools over there with easy admission into the foundation programme that guarantees automatic entrance into the university.

For a degree in Nursing in the Republic of Ireland, these are what you need to know:
1.Excellent 0-level results including Mathematics, English and Science subjects- @ As or Bs. Basically they want exceptional students for health science or medical related programs

2. Foundation studies-- which you have to pass excellently
3. Funds- for Foundation @ EUR 14,500 for 9 months and duration of BSc Nursing is 4 years @ at least EUR 17,000 per year.

Getting an offer after foundation in Ireland is not automatic, its strictly based on your performance however, you can study in cheaper European countries like Lithuania , Georgia, Czech Republic etc @ very affordable costs as low as EUR 5,000 per year .these places allow you study and practice as a Nurse in any European country or do clinical examinations in US, UK etc. If you pass the required examinations in any of these countries, you can gain sponsored work permit.

My Brother i am just about to leave but you have time on your side and i will update as it goes....but from research it seems opportunities abound, if you feel griffith is too high you should try other schools in and outside dublin

My little advice to you:

If you don't have a place to stay for the interim before getting your own place, ensure you book a temporary accommodation with any of the backpackers place, because you might be asked if you have a place to stay at the Port of entry.

Ensure you bring basic things you need for the first 2-3 months because you might not find it funny buying some of these things with your naira induced euro. Things like detergent, if you a female, get your monthly uniform - I hope you understand what I mean by this.

As regards accommodation, its pretty expensive here. So it is not out of place to stay in a place that is an hour or less by bus to your school. What I mean is that you shouldn't be too fixed on getting accommodation at the city center as it is usually more expensive. Just ensure you get a place that is on a frequent bus route.

If you are a lover of your naija home made food(s), ensure you come with the necessary food stuffs useful in preparation of such.

This is all I can remember for now. Do feel free to ask any question(s).

Seems like you got a bargain.....just got into london and i will be here till the 20th...my ticket was somewhat complicated

Garri is allowed. Just ensure you have it in your checked in luggage to avoid unnecessary delay from customs. Also, I meant to say home made food stuff. Take note.

You can pack Nigerian foods including Yam, Garri, Yam flour, Egusi etc.

However, be careful when packing Crayfish, dried/smoked fish and spill-able food items such as palm oil...To be on the safe side pack very minimal of such items. Some airlines have strict ban on palm oils while some totally dis-allow Ghana-must-go bags.

Make sure your food items are packed securely to prevent spillage.
For smelly items like fish or locust bean pack securely and place inside Garri.

Finally, be aware of your luggage limit so you don't end up throw or giving away things you won't be able to travel with.
All these food stuffs are available overseas @affordable prices *** not like Nigerian rate, but they are available including Agege bread so don't start fretting that you may go hungry .

Its quite simple,Just send an email to the Irish consular.
The 2 years post study work permit is a recent development which was announced Feb-March of 2017.It was formerly 1 year.

So the earlier the better to jump on board, no one is fooling anyone...use your internet wisely for research.
