“Three, to look at the direction of blanket subsidy for all the importers in bridging the gap which would be like going back to a problem that had earlier been solved,” This problem has not been solved and cannot be solved by a man as daft as Bubu. #We need educated and visionary leaders 3 Likes |

How did GEJ manage to keep the pump price at #97 and exchange rate at #199 while the price of crude oil was over $90? 4 Likes |

Complainants. There must be a local price response to the international price of oil. As long as we don't have local refining capacity we must react to the landing costs. Lament all you want but reality is reality. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I heard him clearly on TV when he said that as long as the price of PMS is higher across the border there will be incentive for fuel scarcity. That statement on it's own suggest someone is thinking of price increment to normalize the price differential. One thing I know Buha is using this man to do the yo man's job. As he used him successfully to increase it the last time after blowing all the grammar yet we are worse off than where we were. We must be vigilant and watch out for his scheming ways to fool us again into another fuel price increase because it is clear they lack ideas on how to generate internal revenue other than to increase fuel price and impoverish Nigerians. 8 Likes |

Everyone shouting Buhari should profer a solution. This is the almighty Kachukwu saying these meaning that there is no solution if you want to maintain 145. The only solution is deregulation. GEJ: crude- 113, exchange- 160, pms- 97 PMB: crude- 65, exchange- 305, pms- 145. Can someone please make the price of crude 113 and see if those values won't return 3 Likes |

Getting our local refineries to work will proffer lasting solution to the root cause of the problem, however, 'alternative solution 2' can engender untold sabotage to the major players i.e NNPC. https://www.thecable.ng/petrol-pump-price-three-possible-solutions-considered-fg |

Teacher1776: Actually, GEJ maintained the subsidy at the expense of our savings in the foreign reserve...and no, i am not criticising him, he saw that total deregulation would be beneficial to the country long term...hence the increase from N65 to N140 in 2012...which was forced back to N97 after protests. If GEJ had been allowed to proceed with his planned deregulation he would have been a much better manager of resources....with the massive inflow of investment into the oil sector that would have resulted. Unfortunately, Nigerians love low prices. But even with GEJ's subsidy, by 2014, fuel was being sold above the recommended retail price outside Abuja, Lagos and a few main cities. This was a justification of GEJ's truncated decision to remove subsidy in 2012. Buhari, by contrast, cannot afford to subsidize fuel for these reasons 1.The low crude prices means lower revenues for the government...and by extension lower revenues for subsidies of any kind. 2.Buhari had to save dollars heavily as a result of the low crude prices...or we would have had N100000= $1 today. 3.Fuel prices went up as a result. 4.Right now we need oil to be at $139 to run a budget where we actually have enough money for everything. Oil is at $66. Bubu....and for that matter GEJ in his time ....really do not have the money either way to pay for subsidies...which is why fuel prices have to go up. 3 Likes |

Esseite: What consideration exactly? Oil is a commodity with demand and supply determining its price. Do we have the capacity to refine? Just like anything you give most Nigerians to run a refinery in the hands of civil servants would not function so the solution is either to import or privately refine. It doesn't need emotions but practicalities. 3 Likes |
