Matthew 26:47-50: Serving Him and later, because of the lust of the eyes, of the wanting flesh and the deceptivity of riches, turning against Him, like Judas Iscariot is a sin unto death. I pray God had an unrevealed salvation still.

The sin unto death can only apply to matured Christians. Before I explain there is need for certain exegesis.
First of all, like it is naturally that there are three categories of human in their living state.
1. Babyhood.
2. Childhood
3. Adulthood

So it is spiritually as Christians. Paul referred to the Corinthians as babes because of their characters. So who is a baby, by characteristics
1. Babies are newly born infants
2. Babies cannot feed themselves
3. Babies are'' just interested in food and can put anything in their mouth even poison
4. Babies depend on milk

Like the analogy baby Christians are they that cannot stand, sit or walk alone. They need milk and not solid food. This categories of Christians can only live on the basic principles of Salvation.

2. Childhood refer the stage at which one is learning and yet to be stable, such that they can take care of themselves without parental support. Children are prone to peer pressure, because of their search of meaning. They always want to know both good and bad and tend to ask too many question. They tend to be pushed to and fro by various wind of doctrines. Anyone that is still confused about new doctrines are babies and children in spiritual things.

3. The third and last category is Adulthood that is the stage of maturity. At this stage you have grown and cannot be pushed by winds of doctrines. In terms of Spirituality and the Christian life an Adult have the features which are listed in Hebrews 6 from 6 to 10. They are the ones that can commit the unpardonable sin of rejecting Christ after doing all that he did on earth. I wish I can explain more but my battery is running flat

Seeing that the Christian community is a group of believers in God, also since all CHRISTIANS know that the topic before us had, has, and will continue to spark controversies between even well meaning believers.
We affirm basically that no one should discriminate the other, every Christian is allowed to explain his view concerning this HIGH-TOPIC
EVEN we ourselves don't affirm that we know it, we only trust God to help in our endeavors

So back to the topic above

1 John 5:16
If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that.

Pls I hereby call all Christian faithfuls to come tell us their views...

No one discriminates the other ..
Views might argued but then ALL KNOWS THAT IT'S ONLY GOD WHO CHANGES PEOPLE..
AT LEAST WE ALL HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON, THAT CHRIST DIED TO SAVE US FROM SIN...

GOD BLESS

hmm ok thanks...

but covetousness is idolatry according to the Bible...

so therefore it must mean that all covetous Christians (since there are lot of them) are actually sinning unto death?

thanks for your view pls I still need answers

Where did it say covetousness is idolatry...

God hates idolatry so much, because it is the very area that makes us lose our connection with him...

As long as the children of Israel in the OT worshipped God and offered the sacrifices, God was cool with them..even though they might have been committing other sins, there was the blood to atone on their behalf.. Not much of a big deal... But the very moment they began to worship other Gods, the sacrifices for sins stopped.. And God had to visit their sins.. Because he is a just God..

By sending Nebuchadnezzar.. That's why God hates idolatry so much

If the soul that sinneth must die, and there is no blood to cover your sin's.. God has to visit this sin upon you by judgment

This can be related to the new testament, where the blood of Jesus replaces the blood of bulls and rams...

As long as your eyes are on him, his powerful blood is more than enough to save you.. But the moment you begin to worship other gods(idols)..probably sth like pagan worship I mean.. Where you get to call on other gods for intervention and help, You stop pleading the blood of Jesus on your behalf..

At that very moment, you're very vulnerable..

Note that this sin however is not unto eternal condemnation.. Verse 16 says Zoa..which is used for physical death

. And not the same with ionos Zoe which is eternal life in verse 13

This was the insight God gave me.. May God bless his word

That's true

Yeah thanks, though I read it that after the children of Israel came from the 2nd captivity ,,, they never did idolatry again, yet they were condemned for not accepting the Messiah

alright thanks sir
let me touch this before I kill my ba3.

John 5:16
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not
leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him
give life to those who commit sin not leading to
death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not
say that he should make request for this.

if any one take a look at this passage the first thing that stands out is that apostle John says"sin leading to death"and sin not leading to death".

those two terms are actually legal terms used in the Jewish synagogue and we know John is Jewish...so we may ask what does that mean?

the Jews divided sins into two categories the distinctions in the Jewish law, where there was
למיתה חטאה chattaah lemithah, "a sin unto death;" and למיתה לא
חטאה chattaah llemithah, "a sin not unto
death;".

literally it means a sins the law prescribed death as the punishment and other were the minor fault that didn't require death.

here I believe that the apostle John likewise is stating a distinction in sin one unto death and the other not leading to death.
death here though is not physical death but spiritual... if we read John we will hear him mention death mainly as that of the spirit example

We know that we have passed from death to life,
because we love each other. Anyone who does not
love remains in death.
1 John 3:14.

in fact in that passage he lays the criteria for been in death... the sin leading to death are those sin characterized by such lack of love that scriptures say those who do them shall not partake in eternal life, st Paul give a list of such sins.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 English Standard Version
(ESV)
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will
not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice
homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy,
nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will
inherit the kingdom of God.

Alright thanks a lot
Actually,, idolatry was the major problem the early apostle's had with believer's... Some Jews were still practising the Karbala, black magic, and were even making sacrifices to the sun god,all in the name of worshipping Yahweh.. And these same people would still often come back under the roof of the early Church then as Christians..

There are two ways defined in the scripture in which an unforgivable sin can be committed:

1) Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit:
Mark 3:28-30
"Assuredly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;
but he who blashemes against the Holy spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"
because they said, "He has an unclean spirit"
.
What is this portion of the Scripture telling us;
You do not give the glory of what the Holy Spirit is doing the devil. Jesus was doing miracle and they ascribed it to beelzebub and some othere unclean spirits.

2) Backsliding of a Knowledgable Christian (Generals):
Heb.6:4-6
The kind of person who commits this is one who has an indepth knowledge of Christ and have partaking in heaven gifts and power.
This kind of person knows what is right. Forgive them for they do not know what they do, but this set of people KNOW
So no excuse

my dear I know people gave and will still give interpretations different from mine.

I have given mine and I did explain clearly why it is so. unfortunately I don't have time for a protracted argument on this.

but still I'll drop this.

many people here are linking the "deadly sin" with another passage that says "unpardonable sin" and I don't believe they are talking about the same thing.

apostle John says if you see someone committing a deadly sin don't go praying for him, he never said the person will never be forgiven, nope, all he says is that when u see such sin don't go thinking just by intercessory prayer the person will be be forgiven as in the case of not deadly sin.

The thrust of the passage is about leading or not leading to death and death in this case is spiritual death, and he already explained earlier that what causes spiritual death is not loving. Paul does list those sins that are so unloving that he says those who do them will meet eternal death and I already quoted that passage.

but again its your choice what you accept. I only responded because u mentioned me.
