That might just be the school..changes currently being looked into are wrt H1-B extension. I haven't anything concrete about OPT yet.

The OPT is being actively looked at. It will most definitely be scaled back to 12 months. The OPT is not the prerogative of the school, it is a USCIS rule.

DSOs (really the school) still have some role to play..such as recommending OPT-eligible students for the program in SEVIS on time before those students can apply with USCIS, determining what jobs relate to the course of study in cases in cases things are not well defined etc.
If what's being looked at is the duration, then sure it's out of the control of the school for the most part.

Depends on the school. Some are so competitive that they have equally excellent students on waiting lists. In addition, we Nigerians are used to simply making decisions on the fly, no plan, no respect for others plans and time. That doesn't work elsewhere. A lot of schools like to be prepped. If you can't make it on resumption day, you should have known well in advance and informed them so they can make necessary adjustments. Unless you died or fell seriously sick and thus incapacitated, you should be able to know if you can make it on orientation day or not.

This is my point. There is always room for consideration provided that one communicates with them adequately or on time. Even a missed final exam is taken as a make up. School admin are not bunch of saddest that are there to yank away admission or supports because of missed apartment. And to think of it, this is just an ordinary orientation not even the important resumption date.

Use wes.org to evaluate your OND and HND transcripts. Then you can use the equivalent to apply to most schools.

Thanks man

Thanks ma'am, I carried it in moderation, currently at Qatar waiting for my connecting flight to US
LagosismyHome:

If you are carrying in moderation that fine but if you are carrying a lot then that raises flags . Paracetamol, and Ibuprofen dont need prescription in the USA

So in everything do it in moderation .

In my opinion, you are totally wrong because the Vo has no time to look at what you are wearing or how beautiful/ugly you are to get an approval or denial. Moreover, this write up of yours makes no sense and is uncalled for. [/quote]

Monsieur Twoods, I have Not seen this news anywhere, it's only the H1B Extensions that is being talked about, which has been rejected.

Please House, I have a Cousin who graduated in 2012 with a GPA of 3.52/4.0 for his Ordinary National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication and has been working with a media outfit since then. However, he is 29yrs of age now. Considering his age, I want to know if he can get a scholarship to pursue his Studies in the US? Thanks!

If you really care so much about this your "cousin", then show that by teaching and encouraging him/her to register on NAIRALAND and make his enquirers. We'd be delighted to answer him.

Well, that seems to be the cheapest option for him.

Yea.
But I actually blamed myself for taking greyhound from New Jersey station to Minneapolis

I landed in New Jersey on the First and I got to my destination which is Minneapolis via greyhound on the 5th of January..
The way they delayed me ehn, I'm not praying for that to happen again..

Even Jefferson transportation is better than greyhound, cos I took Jefferson bus to Moorehead and they were very proactive than greyhound...

So, he should think very well before making that greyhound decision..

When I traveled, I didn't carry my laptop with me tho.
But others in the plane are with their laptops..

NB: I flew via Ethiopian airline

So, I'm not sure about others..

Laptops are generally allowed to be in your hand luggage so yes on board... however when Trump first came some airlines not all were banned and told all their passengers need to check in their laptop . I dont know if that ban still there

So it best to do a Google search or check the airline website

Hello house, kindly help your sister out of this situation.

I intend to pursue an undergraduate degree in the united state but the problem is my O'level result. I have a good grade in every other subject but have a pass(D7) in English. With this result can I still apply for admission and support it with TEOFL.

Pls I need your response because am planning to apply this month

The D in English is not so much the problem as admission is more about the overall grades and not by a particular subject like how it done in Nigeria.

Calculate your gpa...if it above 3.0 then you are good to go for admission. If it 3.3 or close to 3.5 then even funding is possible. So the first step is checking what your gpa is

Time is very important. Why do people assume most application deadline for fall 2018 ends last year. There are countless of schools with deadline extending to May, so long you are not looking for scholarship. And even if Scholarship is your target, there are still school that gives GA, though that may not be cover the whole tuition.

Other than that, statement of purpose is very essential. If you need to write a perfect one, I will advise you to assess yourself first. What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years, and what do you see yourself doing? Using the information from this assessment, you can begin to work on your statement of purpose. bit by bit! Other than that, if you want a powerful statement of purpose and you still doubt you can deliver that yourself, find expert you can pay. I do that for graduates, both within Nigeria and in the US!
I pray God helps you. Amen! But stay focus!!!!

You fall into wrong hands and I guess that is why you are used! You got the necessary experience now though.

I came back to U.S on Dec 23 via Dubai. My big gaming laptop was in my carryon all the time. Only in Dubai airport they scanned it with a special electronic scan before boarding. At JFK, no one cares about what's in your carry on than if you're bringing in food into the country or not. Even at baggage claim, no one is there to check if you carry the right bag or not shocked and all bags already arrived before you get there. So poor!
