FYI...

From February 4: Certificate of good conduct must for UAE work visa applicants

Expatriates applying for a job in the UAE must first obtain a certificate of good conduct in order to be issued a work permit, a UAE government body has announced.

The new rule will take effect from February 4, 2018.

The official news agency WAM reported on Monday that the UAE Coordination Committee approved a Cabinet Resolution issued in 2017 stipulating that expatriates who apply for work visa in the UAE must first obtain a certificate of good conduct — issued by either by his home country or the country where he lived for five years.

The certificate must then be attested by UAE diplomatic missions, or oversees Customer Happiness Centres at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The committee, which consists of members representing relevant UAE government bodies, said the move comes as part of efforts to create a safer society.

The rule also stems from the UAE’s belief in the importance of protecting community members and ensuring that they enjoy a safe life, making the UAE as one of the most secure countries in the world.

The committee clarified that the certificate is not required from those who come to the country on a visit or tourist visa.

FYI...

For those that might need to attest federal marriage certificate (Form-E) for spouse sponsorship, UAE embassy will ask for a court-sworn affidavit of marriage. The affidavit must have the husband and wife's passport photographs on it, both stamped by the court. The affidavit will also be attested by UAE embassy, and paid for. As usual, both documents must first be attested by the MOFA Abuja.

Best wishes...

Please read.

For all you Dubai prospects. It's better you gather accurate information before you make a step that will jeopardise your life.

The best way to enter Dubai is through a job offer i.e an employer applying for your work permit.

Don't believe these agents that are looking for money all over the place.

They will do a 3 months visa for you and leave you to your fate when you arrive.

And you can't hustle in Dubai like western countries. it's highly controlled.

Have counselled so many people who fell into the hands of these agents.

I met a guy on the metro one day who walked up to me asked if I was Nigerian, I said yes and he asked me to buy him a meal. My heart broke into pieces. He had a good job in naija before leaving.

I know of a marketing manager who fell into the hands of an agent. Got to Dubai after two months ticking on her visa she had to take on a maid job for two years.

So many girls forced into hard labour in hair salons at Deira for a paltry sum of 70000 naira upon conversion.

They live in unhealthy conditions, no standard medical insurance? Cant open bank accounts cos their salaries are low

Is it worth it I dare ask?

My advice if you want to go to Dubai. Don't zero out Nigeria till you are certain of a job in Dubai.

Go there for a month with your attested certificates and money to move around. Remember you can't do a side job there.

See for yourself and apply for jobs. If it clicks then your employer will process work permit for you.

If it needs for you to exit for the visa processing your employer will pay for your ticket. You get to go home and say goodbye properly without any cost on your part.

you're right and also wrong, I will advice him to do the attestation before coming over, you don't know where his own ship is sailing to, some categories of job (mostly menial jobs) doesn't require attestation of result .

Moreover, he has 60 days grace period to still remain in 9ja after the issuance of the visa, 2 months is big enough to get everything done.
You make sense shaa. The catch here is that he has 60 days left before taking off for Dubai, so unless he's attesting his whole department's certificates, that should be enough. Kalas

Congrats man because you're so lucky you pull through before the mail was sent to the UAE embassy by the MOFA. I was actually delayed at the MOFA because of the meeting were this resolution was made last Thursday.

Pursuance to this, the eligibility letter issued from the MOE will cost you just #500 & 5 working days to be ready..but if you beg the woman in charge she might sort you in 2 days (submitted mine last Friday n got it today).
NB: no extra charges!
More so, if you fail or have any grade less than C5 in English language and/or mathematics in your O'level, I'm sorry you're doomed to go rewrite your O'level nii ooO
..no begging or wuru wuru here! #beGuided

MOFA: I got there past 12pm n as stated above, I connected the man that did the signing on my initial authentication, he said "it'll take 2 days to be ready. since Friday everything has changed. we have a new Director now" pleaded buh to no avail..!
..to be continued!

Hello house, this is the dilemma I found myself. I'm in Abu Dhabi working in food and beverage service. I'm about attesting my certificates . I've C in English but pass in mathematics. Will this be a problem?

This upcoming new law let's look into it a bit.

The Certificate of good conduct
For those that already have their visa like me and yet to enter UAE, rushing in to UAE to beat the dead line may not really be the best decision.
As it stands now 24 days is left before it comes into effect
Let us be realistic here, if 50 persons should enter UAE today, not all will get a job quickly enough before 4th February.

So if the date catches you and you don't have the certificate of good conduct then where in UAE will you get it from? Can you get it from Nigerian Embassy in Abu Dhabi?
Even if you get it from Nigeria Embassy can you attest it in MOFA UAE?

If the answer is No then every every should be done in Nigeria.
Now in Nigeria must it be issued by MOFA in Abuja? Or any other entity like state/Local Govt, Court etc.?
If it can be issued by other entity will you take it to MOFA Abuja for attestation before taking it to UAE embassy for final attestation or just directly to UAE embassy?

So guys let us reason for this matter on how best to go about it.

And what is not applicable anymore? The jobs are waiting for you on the streets to be picked up?

Hello house, I've gone through the attestation discussion pages of this thread and 'i think' I understand grin

No it won't be accepted, they have to see the original before your photocopy and original will be attested.

They recently said the minimum grade for Maths and English should be Pass, i stand to be corrected though. Before your certificate can be attested.

FYI...

Certificate of Good Conduct is called Police Character Certificate (PCC) in Nigeria. It may have another name in other countries e.g. Police Clearance Certificate.

As far as I know, you can only get the PCC at CID Headquarters, Alagbon, Lagos. Thereafter, it should be attested by MOFA Abuja and UAE Embassy Abuja before coming to UAE.

Please see below for more clarification on the new law coming into effect February 4.

Update:

Certificate of good conduct which is Police Character clearance here in 9ja can be a applied online just like the tinted permit procedure.
Go to npf.gov.ng
Click on character clearance and register, note your application id.
Make sure you fill in what you can defend just incase.
Print the printout page
Take the printout to the police state command for Biometric capture in the state you reside no need travelling to another State.

Note: You need your NIMC number to fill the form

I just applied cuz I will likely be in UAE from Feb

For those that have been contacting and disturbing me or anticipating to do so on how much I did my UAE 3months Visa and the agent who did it pls take note:
1. A travel agency did it for me @ 240k(price may have changed) 110k initial deposit and 130k when visa is out.
2. The person who introduced me to them charged me 20k
3. Total 260k
4. They asked for scanned copy data page
of my international passport and White background passport photo. When the visa came out they sent a guarantor form that will be filled by 2 guarantors in case you violate UAE visa regulations(over stay etc.) a fine of $2,200 will be paid by you or the guarantors.

Biko if you have your own agent/agency use him or them or look around for one.

But if you insist on contacting me for the agency you know what is involved.

Please, for how long did you wait for the visa (how many weeks did the agent use to process it)?
