It's only on Nairaland you see such. Islam is the reason the North and South-west feel comfortable with themselves. Yoruba's even like Igbos. What part of Yoruba land aren't Igbos everywhere? There're even Igbos in farmlands all over Illesha, I believe in Ogun state. There've never been an ethnic crises between the two. I have lived in Lagos for over 20 years and never quarrelled with a Yoruba man. They don't even care where you come from or what you do, once you pay him the house rent on time and you don't make trouble. Islam is the only reason they work together, exactly how a Christian from the North,South,East,West would want to work with fellow Christians everywhere. Unfortunately, Christians in the South-west aren't the ruling class. |

The people up north understood this so long ago by using the British method of divide and rule long after the end of colonialism. It's both only between the ibos and Yoruba, but all other tribes in Nigeria. They gain power and easily have their way by causing divisions among ethnic, religious and sectoral lines. It is called divide and rule. The moment all tribes rise up above this, then this country will have hope. |

Boleyndynasty2:The Igbos Hold A Grudge The Fact That They Dont Pay It Back Bloodily Like Fulani's Doesnt Mean They Would Let Things That Happened 50-60 Years Ago Just Slide, It Information Has Been Passed Down For Generation To Generation. Until The Yoruba's Are Truly Remorseful For What They Did, There Is Not End In Sight For The Grudge. The Case Of Hausa Fulani Apologetic Or Not The Grudge Has Been Buried Deep Within It Can Never Be Erased. The End In Sight Is When This Shithole Republic Split. Which I Think It Will. |

musicwriter:You see, you people think you know the yoruba culture. By the statement above, it show you know very little or maybe you are young. Let me educate you a bit. Uptil this very moment, there has never been a Muslim governor in both Ekiti and Ondo. Before Aregbesola became the governor, Osun has never had a Muslim governor. Oyinlola was the last governor of Osun state. himself and his deputy were both christians. Similar story can be said in Ogun state. Before Amosu, all Ogun state governors from 1999 were christians. So you see, your point about Christian have not been in rulling class is completely false. In Oyo, the governors have been alternating between Muslims and Christian. Lagos is the only exception with Tinubu and Fashola both being Muslims. Also, tell me 5 Yoruba muslim ministers since 1999. Most ministers from SW have been Christains. BUT there lies the beauty of Yorubaland, did you ever hear the Muslims in the other Yoruba states complain for all these years? WE JUST DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE RELIGION of the governor as long as s/he delivers. If you don't deliver, you get booted out irrespective of your faith. We don't see it as injustice and it is not an issue for us until FFK tried to plant the evil of politics of religion in 2015 This is what flat-head ipob yoots are now trying to catch on by saying its the yoruba muslims that are the problem. They try to warm their ways back to the hearts of Yoruba christian by stylishly instigating them against the Yoruba Muslims. But it has failed and will continue to fail because in every family in our land both religions are very well represented and naturally we tolerate one another. A virture that no other region in country is blessed with |

gists:You missed the point. I' am not even interested in religion. What I pointed out is the reason I think it's easier for North to work with South-west and vise versa. I' am not talking about or even interested in intra politics in South-west. Every ethnic group love themselves as much as Yorubas love themselves, though Yorubas seem to bond more with each other. |

Oblang:Christians in South-East and South-west haven't exploited religion to pursue political gains. Unlike, Islam. Buhari himself is credited as saying "Muslims should only vote for Muslims". Indeed, people like Fayose, FFK, are pro-South-East because they're Christians. Get it? |

zendy:By "common destiny" I'm guessing you are referring to the common attributes of laziness, street begging, illiteracy, religious violence and intolerance, corrupt Babanriga wearing kleptomaniacs. I agree with you. It's hard to say which of the two between Yorubas and Hausa excels in backwardness. Yorubas should be made a case study in proof of the theory that education will not stop a people from embracing ignorance, if ignorance happens to be their natural genetic inclination. How else can one make sense of the mindless support Dullar-dinho still enjoys amongst the supposedly educated Yorubas, inspite of all the crimes against humanity that have happened on his watch. |

musicwriter:Another stupid attempt by a bittered Igbo to incite Yoruba Christians against the Muslims. Now explain these: why no Igbo Christian leader blasted nnamdi KANU during an onslaught on the Yoruba pastors why Azikwe an Igbo Christian worked with tafawa balewa how do you explain Yoruba Muslims overwhelming vote for GEJ in 2011?........ how many southwest governors are currently muslims and Christians.Don't forget that the second most powerful Yoruba man alive today is a christian. |

musicwriter:Your thought is wrong! GEJ loss and the voting pattern that led to it really pained you Igbo people. You started popularizing this thought among you shortly after GeJ lost election which is the first time Yoruba and the north will work together political ly! Going down the history it has always being Igbo people and the north working together... 1959=Azikwe/balewa versus Awolowo 1979=shagari/ekwueme versus Awolowo 1983=shagari/ekwueme versus Awo 1983=Ojukwu (the political leader of Igbo people) contested as senator under northern party of NPN. 1993=Tofa(Igbo voted for Tofa against Abiola) 1999=Igbo voted for OBJ,a northern candidate not Olu false, the Yoruba's candidate 1995=Arthur nzeribe was busy campaigning for Abacha |

@ Mariangeles, maestroferddi & adeolakemi, You attention seeking mooks have now crawled out to play because you saw a crack, get back in your hole, I'm on a mission to separate boys from men. You have been fed hatred from wombs and can't know what truth is. You better believe it, once you draw the first blood by kicking first whether low or high, you know longer have control over any response though the owner of nairaland who happened to be Yoruba has made it possible for you to do this and get away with it. Enough of your gutter wash, I'm about solution to your lunacy now and fast. |

Danladi7:Igbos voted for Abiola. In fact, he won convincingly all over the nation. What the data you sent in actually proves is that Northers understand how to play politics more than any other ethnic group. In other words, they know how to use South-East or South-west whenever it would help them climb to power. The question is; how are they able to do that? I suggested religion. If not religion, let me know; how are they able to use the South-East or South-west? |
