Guys please don't be angry for the long post but this are trying times for me as well as "matters of the heart" concerning me and IELTS and they said "a problem shared is a problem solved"

I keep getting 7.5 on listening and 6.5 on reading even though I read/practice/prepare as if I'm going for MBBS exam. My practice score for both listening and reading are most often within the range of 38- 40 but "I still dey gbagaun for the actual test " dunno y cry

Here is list of things I think might I be doing wrong when it comes it to the listening section:
i. I write all my ans in caps.
ii. I go back to correct the tenses and more often change from singular to plural and vice versa as the sentence required.
iii. In the last test I took; the question required you answers be written in two words and a number; the speaker called out a date of birth as "22nd the 7th 1985" and I wrote "twenty-second July 1985" was I correct? cos i'm thinking this contributed to my downfall and wouldn't want to fail such a question ever in my life.

In reading, I knew my weakness was T/F/NG; Y/N/NG and matching heading so I took out time to practice question on this alone until I started acing it consistently yet "I still enter 6.5 bus" lipsrsealed aside this I can't point a finger to what could be wrong with the reading section.

I planned on taking the next available test as "e dey hot" but on reading canadianfly's write up, I had to take a second guess cos she really made a good point; but my problem could not be practice as I invest good time in it.

Lastly, could it be BC

Your post called out to me. I thought this may be useful for you. The following links are some materials i used during my IELTS test and they were most helpful. I also had problems with the Y/N and matching question and i remember calling a friend (who had passed ielts) repeatedly and complaining bitterly. I always had very low scores there while i was practicing. I had issues too with the matching headlines until i watched the video of this lady Darian Sandmartin . And the whole thing was demystified for me. Please be calm and go through this links and others which may help you. Also, give yourself sometime to prepare. Practice and practice again. It is well with you.

Something also helped me though some people may not agree with it. I practiced with Academic test, I did this partly in ignorance for sometime before i realized I was working with academic instead of General test! The end result was that i mastered the harder tests (for months) and by the time i was doing my mop up reading on general test (this was about 2 weeks to the IELTS exam) it was like a walk in the park. Please do remember this took about 3 months for me so i had some time to play with.

I am not asking anyone to do this as my technique may not be what will work for you but this was something that seemed to work for me and it definitely helped me with the reading test.

I think they usually allow extension is some cases.. if you send them an email with evidences why you can not make the 15days allowed. Some people on this thread have done that before
But how long do you think UK will take to release your passport? You can also pay the UK embassy some money for fast track, however, if the UK visa is not so important than your Canadian PR, withdraw your application for the UK visa and get you passport back within 10working days.

cc: Cochtrane please advise accordingly.

My brother, me I believe that all you have is performance anxiety. But then again, I could be wrong. I'm surely not the sort to say for sure, cos thanks to God, I have always aced English tests. One thing that did help me while taking my test though, was complete concentration on the recording. I always closed my eyes and wrote down the first answer that came to mind without over thinking. I am sure I missed some, but almost all the time, my answer was right because i have carefully followed every word. Got 9 in three consecutive IELTS listening tests working this way, so it's no fluke. From your practice scores, it sounds to me like you have it in you. Just be calm, concentrate and trust yourself.

1.....has anyone ever gotten a positive assessment with RN/Rm?....without a Bsn certificate.
2.......which company did you use?
3.......if I happen to select a 2yr cert course (biz admin) obtained in canada as my highest qualification, does that count towards my application? Meaning I won't have to evaluate my Rn/Rm but just state them.
All these is knowing I am applying with my nursing experience.
I just paid for WES and I am scared that I may have just flushed my 250 dollars down the toilet. If so I just wanna pick myself up and know what's the next step.

With these scores, what is the projected Crs?
2. Does ur spouse have masters?
3. If 2. Is no, then u stand a better chance, mind u Dr evaluation doesn't take that long at all, and when u eventually do ur Crs is usually high enough to fetch u ITA in no time with good ielts score atleast 8777 and 3years work experience

4.If ur scores are good with this present ielts scores 7777,then u mustn't evaluate ur degree, however, if u must practice u still need to do so.

Yes he has masters degree with 5yrs exp,I have two years working exp
Thanks

Na wa. grin Any how, it's your lucky day....I'm in a Christian mood this night grin

First thing you need to know is if you are eligible for Express Entry - Federal Skilled Worker.

Visit the CIC website and to understand more about the Express Entry system. An excerpt from the page below:

Express Entry manages applications for three of our key economic immigration programs:

Federal Skilled Worker Program
Federal Skilled Trades Program
Canadian Experience Class
If you’re eligible to immigrate under one of these federal immigration programs:

we’ll place you in a pool with others who are also eligible
we’ll rank you and the others using several factors
if you’re a top candidate, you’ll get an Invitation to Apply to a specific program
if we invite you to apply, you can apply online for permanent residence

Find out what your score could be here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Once you determine that you can get a reasonable score, go to the British council website and register for the IELTS, also start your ECA (Education Credential Assessment). You have a choice of agencies to choose from. Once you have these two, jump into the pool and wait for ITA.

On the real though someone can't explain the process for you in one post. You will have to read the CIC website and this thread to understand the process fully so you don't make mistakes along the way. All the best. [/quote]
