All these U.I. people cannot be trusted.

Please, my Unilorin guys, lets strive to show we are Better By Far.

U.I. must not be allowed to win, no matter the cost.
LOL.

my apologies if I sound self centered, this is a jungle right now, every man for himself

I am just being a survivor brother

This way you go about surviving makes you appear very self centered.

But you apologized, and that is a good thing.

It's not a jungle, it's a competition. If the organizer had this jungle mindset he wouldn't put it together because I know he must definitely have other responsibilities too.

The more, the merrier. And may the best man win.

see this one, currently I know 3 different people in UNIBEN school of medicine that scored 74% each, another scored 64% and I'm like the fifth position with 54% . . so you see the trophy is coming to UNIBEN again grin grin grin

the way you social science/arts guys go about this mathematics thing is so so sickening. for crying out loud we did same maths and English from Pry1 - SS3 so why the fuss??. I'm a medical student hasn't done any maths related course for up to four years now too, even SAT is maths and English. No one should be responsible for your weakness in maths and strength in English . . please the organizers, continue with your strategy because I don't find any fault in it since the maths questions being asked are basic reasoning questions and not dy/dx

I wonder how you came about these voodoo statistics; 74%,64%,and 54%?, this just looks like an arithmetic progression. What are the odds that all the Uniben students managed to get scores with 10% difference all through?.

Well, I can still congratulate a Unibenite's victory in this competition, but a Uite?,absolutely not!.

How do you know those complaining are from Social Sciences/Art? You don't need to crucify others to pass ur point. I m a social scientist and I have no issues with the mathematical questions

Some people are concerned about where the trophy would go to, my case is different. I just want to be among 2-5 with my current hard-earned score of 52% cheesy. By the way I rep MOUAU!

I think it isn't just a social science or arts issue, I am a MCB&V(Microbiology and Virology) student and I find the mathematics to be unnecessary. Though we have no right to tell the organizers how to conduct the competition, I sincerely hope the maths is reduced in stage 2.

See the way you just jumped into conclusions.

Encouraging someone to be more accommodating and tolerant doesn't mean I am academically weak.

I'm certain you didn't see me posting anything about how I want the examiners to set the questions, because that is their job. And that is why we say, "may the best man win".

And just for the record, I'm a core scientist. (which really doesn't matter, but just to let you know that higher aptitude for verbal or quantitative reasoning has nothing to do with your course of study)

Those are not maths but logical quantitative reasonings now. What's the faith of those who have their strong point here and weak point with the verbal reasonings then? cry
.....so being given one ....no, two questions on some equation requiring to find "x" and "y" is not maths abi...... so, finding some perimeter and radius is not maths abi? .....Like I said, we're not championing for a total removal of maths questions but at least a reduction. Let it be an equal playing field for all....at least 15 maths questions, 15 English questions and 15 current affairs with 5 miscellaneous questions. C'mon, what's bad in that?

This scholarship is biased. Twas only set to favour science students.
Not a single arts student made it to the second stage due to their mathematical infested questions with ridiculous time limits.
I couldn't scale through with my 40% score.
We art students have always been marginalized from time immemorial.

No Bro, that's not true. Just see this as a wake-up call to sharpen your maths skill. Maths isn't peculiar to any field of study. Maths is not just science; doing maths is an art too. Everything we do everyday involves maths.

By the time you graduate and start applying for jobs, you'll be required to take aptitude tests. And, I can assure you that, regardless of the course you read, the questions will be--according to you--mathematically infested.

I have read stories of intelligent graduates who struggle to get interview invitations because they couldn't scale through the first stage of passing aptitude tests-- and this is mostly because of the 'mathematically infested questions.' Please, don't make the same mistake they made while in school by thinking maths is only for science students.

I don't like maths too, grin but I still do it sometimes because I know it's a necessary evil.

I believe everyone did maths in secondary school. By professional standards, you're expected to hold the knowledge with you forever.

These said, I don't think the problem here is the maths: they are basic. The trouble is in the time given. grin Not everyone can solve 'story problems' that fast. I can't grin... well, for now. With practice, I know I'll get faster. smiley

psychometric tests are often like that.
