Good day everyone. Please I need your advice. A friend wants to give me his Acura mdx 2004 vehicle for 30k a week and he will be the one to fix any fault that shows up. Please what do you guys think. It's my first time. Thanks.

Collect it on trial for two weeks and see if it pays. No harm in trying. Someone picked me up with a 2008 Lexus RX350 on uber last month. I'm sure he's not stupid.

On the long run, such cars ( Suvs ) are not ideal for this business.

You would be surprised it's still possible to make the 40k( or more) the driver delivers to the partner if you're driving your SUV yourself.

You just have to try it for a couple of weeks, if it doesn't work, no problem

Some people must have tried it before saying it is not advisable. You'd spend more on maintenance and fueling. Long run its not worth it. Get a smaller engine.

Thanks. Yes I intend to do it for like a month and see how it works and what comes out. Though the owner will fix the car when there is fault. There was an option of me paying 25k weekly but I will be the one fixing the car but I declined.

Thanks bro. Owner will maintain if I pay 30k weekly. I declined the option of 25k while I do the maintenance. I plan on doing it for a month and see how it works then I can arrange for something else.

It's not advisable for rentals... But if it's your personal car and you're driving yourself, it may just bitok.

Let's do a simple worst case scenario calculation.

Mpg values for that car city driving is 15mpg or about 6km/liter of fuel.

I remember Chief Gazzuz said a car does an average of 1500-2000km per weekly

Using the lower value of 1500, that will give us 250litres of fuel weekly

If we assume fuel is N180/litre that gives us N45,000 total cost on fuel

Now let's use N60/km to calculate income, @ 1500km that's N90,000 income... Remember we did not add any income that could come from minutes driven, we used just distance... We are looking at worst case scenario

If we subtract fuel expenses 90k-45k, we still have 45k left. He can decide to set aside 15k as weekly budget for maintenance.

So at the end of the week, he's left with 30k as take home which is not bad for a car owner.

This is just to show you that it's still workable for a car owner driving himself, but obviously it's not advisable as rentals

You left out distance driving when there's no rider in your car, i.e on your way to pickup, on your way home after close of work

I also left out income that could come from minutes. N11/min
I also used N180 as fuel
I also set aside 15k weekly as maintenance, that 60k every month, which I think it's a bit on the high side

So it will balance out

Also imagine if the driver is a machine like Romeo3 grin

All advice to stay away from the ride are in order. But, their is no harm in trying. For one thing, if the ride is neat and engine still sharp, you will get plenty offline clients who will like the comfort of the ride. Acura MDX is high-end Honda. Just like Lexus is to Toyota.
But you have to be smart to know where to get premium clients. One pointer is International and Local Airports.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes by feeding us back on your experience.

I'm having a problem. Sometimes when I drop off a rider, Uber will send me sms and email that they adjusted my fare and when I check my account, I'll see they've deducted the money. It will be N0.00.
This happens especially when I have short trips or receive cancellation fee.
I did like 3 short trips today, received two cancellation money but all cancelled.

What's the cause of that, is it that the riders are up to something because they're all card trips except one that was cash Trip.

Questions
1. What device are you using
2. Did u always choose recommended navigation from uber
3. Does this happen to your card trips alone or cash as well ?
4. There are new uber update in the play store, have u tried updating ur app
5. What android version are u running on ur device, remember that u can upgrade ur device to a higher version.
