daremum:There is transit. All depends on where you are. The lrt will usually get up to Tuscany and Dalhousie in the NW and then it's d bus from there. So it depends on whether the community you live in is closer to d lrt or farther away. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Please do not benchmark CPA with ACCA people abeg. In terms of customer service; "ACCA on ki n se egbe iyalaya anybody". The organisation is too organised, too professional. I was at a meeting of another professional body recently, the CEO of the body came from America to Nigeria for that meeting and every question was like 'ACCA does this, why can't this body do this?' Guy had to say they would benchmark ACCA since they seemed to have everything on point. vascey: |

AZeD1: Lol JJC behavior. It's allowed. Companies in Canada usually pay biweekly. Never heard of bi-monthly. And I doubt that exists. How do they want you to survive by paying you every two months?? You no go pay mortgage/rent? Na your blood dey hot. All you're seeing is dollar signs not the work 3 Likes 1 Share |

Hi Virt, i've been following your exchange with rainazoe. Quick one about Ontario CPA. is it fully confirmed that i can start the process while still outside Canada? cos my hubby tried and he keeps telling me we'll just have to wait and do it when we land.He vehemently doesn't want to go through the BC route. Thanks Virt: |

AZeD1: Twice a month = biweekly. Bimonthly = every two months/every 8 weeks. Which is impossible. English na the problem here. 1 Like |

AZeD1: That's wonderful. Bimonthly is usually used to mean every two months. But I see it also means every two weeks, like biweekly. Any which ways, you're saying the same thing. Getting paid every two weeks. An event of getting paid weekly that is every Friday, is usually if contracted under an agency like Ranstad etc. But direct employment under an organization would most likely be biweekly. Every two weeks. |

Canadianfly:Some months have 5 weeks that's why you can't use bi weekly for something done twice a month. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Canadianfly: 11:28am On Feb 05, 2018 |
AZeD1: Says who? That is the best time to use it, as an adverb. Regardless of whether a month has 5 weeks or 10 weeks in it, biweekly payment would be made every two weeks. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by happytbaby: 11:31am On Feb 05, 2018 |
Well, it can be used to mean both twice a week and every two weeks, it is an ambiguous phrase abi na word see below: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Biweekly may refer to occurring twice a week.[1][2] Due to this ambiguity, many style guides recommend to never use the term and to replace with unambiguous expressions.[3] There are 52 full weeks in a year of 12 months (ISO 8601 defines a year as containing 52 or 53 weeks), making for a possible 26 or 104 biweekly events in a year. This is a greater number than if such events were held twice a month, because most months have more than four weeks (28 days). In the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, the term fortnightly is more commonly used for an event that occurs every two weeks. In the US, a biweekly publication is issued every two weeks and a bimonthly publication is issued every two months. New York State SNAP refers to a biweekly paycheck as every 2 weeks.[citation needed] Canadianfly: |

Canadianfly:If you use the term bi weekly for something that should be done twice a month, you'll run into trouble. 52 weeks in a year. A Bi weekly event will occur 26 times. Twice a month (12 months in a year) A Bi Monthly event would occur 24 times. PS: I know bi weekly payment is every two weeks. Bi weekly payment is different from bi monthly payment. 7 Likes 1 Share |

AZeD1: All my Canadian employment letters have the term bi-weekly on them. Could do you a snapshot, but I risk disclosing the organization coz of the paper used. I have never come across an employment agreement with "bi-monthly" written on the contract. Not that it doesn't exist, but to the best of my knowledge, you'll be usually told bi-weekly. Because payroll is processed EVERY TWO WEEKS, every other Friday not twice in a month. 1 Like |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by AZeD1(m): 11:43am On Feb 05, 2018 |
Canadianfly:Most employers pay bi weekly, but I know some who is paid on 15th and 30th (hence my bi monthly). I also know someone who was paid monthly (Indian employer). |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Canadianfly: 11:49am On Feb 05, 2018 |
AZeD1: The friend with 15th and 30th payment is bi-weekly. There are two weeks apart, however you look at it. Except there's a month has 40 days it it but it's 14-15 days payment. The letter usually says: Salaries are paid bi weekly on the 15th and 30th of every month. Monthly payment is common too, especially with non North American companies. However bi weekly is more what you see than weekly or monthly. |

@ aZedi Pls I noticed you are in Ottawa. Though I have asked this before here, pls where can you advise a family ( teenagers and children inclusive) to settle in Ottawa considering schools, cost and most importantly safe neighbourhood. Pls I naturally like very quiet places ( I am not the happening place type). Will be attending Uottawa in Sandy hill, though I don't mind a reasonable commute. Lastly, what is the child law in that area like? Can my 14yrs ( one month away from 15yrs) old son mind his brothers for a short while; like from the time the come home from school to when I get back from school. Pls this is to enable me make good arrangement before applying for study permit. Abeg any other person with advice can contribute especially with regards to the child care part. Have to get my acts together as children are involved. Thank you and may God bless you all. 1 Like |
