Re: How Federal Universities Are Covering Up Corruption And Sexual Harassment-SERAP by Yankee101: 11:01pm On Feb 08, 2018
Lecturers demand for money and sex in exchange for grades in the tertiary education system.

Those who do not compromise are given low grades or forced to repeat classes.

The object of who graduates as best student (usually comes with prestige, prizes, cash and job opportunities) has been religiously and ethnically politicised too.

E get one for my uni dat tym. Watin d man go tell d girl be say "I NEED YOUR LAPS"

Also my friend called me last year November that she needed 12k to sort a couse and she doesn't have 12k. I told her to call her parent and I can help her with 4k. After dat she said 4k is too small.
She was now telling me different thing that the lecturer said if she doesn't have 12k that he could sex her.

12k or we have sex. On hearing this,i felt deranged and it seems she is more focused on the sex stuff. I just switched my phone off.

But before that, the last thing I told her was to use CD and that even after d sex the lecturer would continue to use her till he is tired of her.
I dnt know what happened later cus I no wan put my hand for evil.

Another one was a friend of mine whom lecturer called her and told her to by one alcohol drink like that and she should come the next day by 7pm.

I was like, what da hell is wrong in our education sector?

Na all dis dem lecturers get disease pass sef.

Sexual harassment is getting out of hand. You won't believe how many lecturers have interest to sleep with my GF which we are in the same department. I see this girl as a gift from God to me because she is very to me and we relate with each other so nicely but these lecturers would let her be. Like today alone, at least 4 of them saw her in different locations and all invited her to their respective offices and did nothing than toasting her and asking her for contact number and other funny funny questions like "do you have a boyfriend?", "When did you have sex last?" "Can we have a dinner tonight?" What useless and shameless lecturers do we have in our universities these days? How do we tame and curtail this ugly behaviour of lecturers? Or does it mean being a lecturer now entails sleeping with all fine girls on campus?
Don't let them know you are the boyfriend o so they don't start facing you.

Mine is a heartbreaking experience, I merited a first list admission into A.b.u Zaria with my good scores in Utme and putme. But alas the school senate denied me the admission for a reason best known to them .I tried all I can but since I have no one at the top all my hopes were dashed to a rock. Today I encouraged myself and went back to the school to register yet for 2018 Utme though it's late but thanks to the extension by Jamb. During my registration I met a staff of Iya Abubakar (a computer center in A.b.u Zaria ) who assisted me during 2017 putme registration. He was surprised when he saw me and asked what brought me there. I told him I came to register for Jamb. He said that's not possible, that he saw my name second to the first person in A.b.u Zaria first list before it's was taking to the Senate for consideration. So if I'm to understand him, the Senate unjustly remove my merited admission and traded with it. So Nigeria is this a country we want to build for our future generations? . So if admission can be traded with, then where is the hope of those innocent Nigerians that merited a good job in federal agencies but were denied due to their region or ethnicity . May God have mercy.

I speak from experience.
I know a classmate who missed the Continuous Assessment for a course in our 3rd year, no make up test, yet he got an A. I wrote for my ancestors and my entire generation, yet I got a B (I am still pained till this day because, in that semester that was my only B).

The lecturer in charge of the course is a relative of the said student. The worst is, this lecturer knows nothing about the course, and is not even fit to be a lecturer.

Recently, there has been an influx of graduate assistant with marginal 2¹ grade which was hitherto not the case. Only first class graduates were retained, now it's a thing of knowing the VC.

Public Education in Nigeria is dead! The crop of lecturers being absorbed into the system is a disgrace to Academics. I spit on Nigerian Public Tertiary Education.

P.S: I chose not to mention the school. But it is a Federal University, a supposedly renowned Federal University!
Keep the name in your pocket. how will that help the matter?

A certain professor Cookey in Economics department, university of Port Harcourt collects 40k before you pass his Econometrics exam.
Professor Cookey does not care if you wrote well or not, if you fail to give him 40k then carryover will certainly be beckoning on you. And if you have the course carryover then you will need to pay 60k at the second attempt. The above not legal fees is for postgraduate students, the undergraduate students of the department have already legalized Professor Cookey's criterion for passing his exams.
The sad thing is, everyone knows about this, both academic and non-academic staff, but nobody is doing anything, nobody is saying anything, even the supposedly good lecturers. Professor Cookey is ruining lives of brilliant young men and women who do not have money to 'sort' ; they get frustrated, suffer depression and ultimately abandon their dreams. The ills of this nation stems from the school system where monsters called lecturers hold sway and feel they are demigod. I watched a young man who is arguably the best in his class, he solves assignments for all to copy, being from a poor home, his only chance to life and success was his brilliance. Professor Cookey ruined that young man because he could not 'sort'. How can someone who can't pay his school fees 'sort'? I can't believe that in a federal university lecturers and non-academic staff alike will be advising you to give Professor Cookey his money to avoid trouble. Evil indeed prevails because of the silence of good men.

Please any well meaning Nigerian reading this and in a position to do something about this should please investigate this and save brilliance from extinction.

It is not about having a few good ones, it is about how do we rescue a gradual systemic decay of our education system. If the university rots, our country goes to the gutter. These citadels of learning are suppose to be grooming ground for leaders with strong aptitude for sound academic discourse. As a product of the Nigerian tertiary education system, I can relate to many of things wrote above. My postgraduate project supervisor is lazy, inept and totally empty. I often wondered how such a character found his way through into the system. To cap it, he is a PhD. holder, It stinks. There was nothing you give this man that he reads. He loses whatever write-up you gave him, and when you turned up with your laptop to show him the progress you have made, he pretended to be dozing off. It was a very frustrating experience, one I can never forget.

About time all these issues are addressed.
Those who ask for sexual favors or fail students.
Students who dont deserve to pass but give sexual favors instead.
Students who sort to get good marks and lecturers who demand sorting should be jailed, anyone who fails or passes a student for refusing to give or for giving sexual favors should be jailed.
We need sanity in the education system.

lol.. Anytime I remember this all I do is laugh. On my project defence I scored 31/40 from the panel and the other 60% was to be decided my my project supervisor. This man asked me to get a bunch of plantain and 10ltrs Palm Oil, I noticed this was the trend then in my school. I told my friends I won't buy even a pencil for the man because I have fulfilled my part going by the school regulations and paid my fees/dues so I see no reason giving gifts conditionally.

Like joke this man gave me 12/60 making it 43/100 and my CGPA dropped dramatically, funny thing is, everyone was blaming me for not doing the needful. I was just surprised and laughing. Told them it is well. So the whole thing is really a menace because most of these lecturers are worst than the students themselves academically but alas they have their godfather.

This is the norm in most federal universities...and we expect Nigeria to become an el dorado overnight...Nigerian can never see the light of day if it buildings roads in the sky, fills drainages with free food and becomes another paradise but its educational systems are in shambles!
